Further Images of Animated Prowl and Bumblebee

Postby i_amtrunks » Mon Jan 28, 2008 10:08 pm

Further images of the Transformers: Animated figures have emerged.

Pascal of the Cybertron.ca boards has posted new images of both Animated Bumblebee and Prowl in robot and Alt modes, alongside comparatively sized figures from previous lines.

You can check out the images, as well as Pascal's short review of the figures by clicking here.

Prowl looks really cool. Very little robot sticking out of the alt form and very litle alt for hanging off the robot. I actually can't wait to get this in my hands and play with it.

I didn't like the prowl figure when i first saw him, and I still don't. BUT..after seeing the show, I think I would consider buying him if they released a variant or remold with a battle mask. Covering that big chin with a mask does wonders. I've always liked bee's look the best though.

Main thing that puts me off about BB is that whole cheat with the chest plate thing.
Its exactly the same as Prime having hidden Windshields that appear on his chest in robot mode.

If you cant model a design to incorporate a certain part in a certain place then dont bother with it. Having a fake 'stand in' just seems cheesy. Reminds me of those cheesy Transformers that were just a fully formed robot and had huge chunks of kibble all over it (like a whole car) that just folded around it.

Transformers should be just that. One form that shifts its parts to create a whole new form. Not something that just lifts bits up to reveal the form hidden inside it.
*end rant*

Prowl is one of the few animated figures I KNOW I will be getting since I have a soft spot for motorbike Tfs. As for BB, the figure in general doesn’t look that great.

I don't know why everybody dislikes BB. He looks pretty good to me. People are complaining that his chest is not his roof. Would you rather he have an apron like Classics BB? My only complaint is his stingers. Doesn't he use them seperately in the show, not together like TM Cheetor? I may wait for a remold with correct stingers and battle mask.

About the fake roof chest.
Actually that's the way he transforms if you watch the show, its only there so that it can look like G1 Bumblebee.
And don't complain about Animated being the first to do this.
Prime's chest in RiD and Cybertron.

Only thing I don't like about Bee is his yellow plastic. I looks a little... lemony.

I also don't like how Hasbro is still using silver autobot symbols, red ones would've been better.

Prowl is awesome.

Meh, I'm still not totally sold on the Animated toys, but I will admit, that, while I wasn't considering getting Prowl before, he has grown on me, but I still can't get over the fact that all the bots have freakishly large chins.

What's wrong with Hasbro.
movie Bumblebee was too small.
now animated Bumblebee is too big!
arghhh.

Anyways, Since the movie and animated lines have bots that are very very different(added second very cause the unicrilogy and beast wars toys were still very different from g1 ones) from G1 styled toys, which do you think mixes in with the G1 guys better?
I'd say Animated. blockier.

I don't like Bumblebee's feet, but that's not enough to keep me from buying it. As for Prowl, I think he's got a great design but his color scheme is awful on the show and doesn't look any better on the figure.

my only complaint about bumblebee is whats with that small clear thing ontop of his supose to make his eyes light up when you put him in sunligt or something sunroof on top of robot head strange.

more i watched the show bit and bit some of the figures are growing on me i still dont like cybertronian prime with a big windsheild for a chest but it might brow on me as well.

i wouldnt be surprised if hasbro does make prowl, and bumbelbee with battle heads if they do as well as the movie line figures probably will just to make money and maybe some repaints to.

How so?

Their size in relation to other lines? The fact that, next to older lines, they look like they're lacking paint?

He means he doesn't like the show, and so isn't interested in the toys. So he won't be spending any money- so his wallet won't be crying.

ah, i thought it could be that but i was trying to figure out what liking/not liking a show had to do with liking/not liking toys which are two totally different entities.

i like a toy for its own merits alone, maybe some people need to like a cartoon first and then buy a toy, i dont understand that. its a bit like when somebody says i hate classics 2 pack megatron/prime but i have to buy them because I love 2 packs! or i hate movie megs but have to buy it because megs is my favourite decepticon, seems a waste of money to me.

I enjoyed the TF movie but I dont like the toys, except for jazz, who i bought.

The roof cheat doesn't bother me much on Bumblebee. I just don't like the plastic (looks a little cheap), I hope that it is just the picture playing tricks on my eyes.

Prowl looks great!

Is it just me or are they bigger than you thought they would be?

The original Movie Jazz is actually really cool. One of my faves to play with.

Yeah, I'm the opposite. I look at the toys, hoping that I love em, and then look at the show. Probably a habit developed from having to watch RiD-Cybertron. Sure, each show has its moments, but generally they are god awful.

As such, my expectations were lowered so dramatically, that the show wasn't important to me anymore.

Thankfully, animated rectified that for me. Show + toys = win. :-P

I'll put it in these terms...

Armada Hot Shot is probably one of the worst Transformers released in modern times. The figure fails in almost everyway. He has poor articulation, is limited by his gimmick, and looks, well, rather doofy.

Everyone knows I love Armada and the like. I can admit to HotShot not only looking 'kiddie' when compared to other Transformers, but even within the context of Armada he looks kind of kiddie.

I could put up with it though. Animated Bumblebee is full out intended to appeal to children and while the fact that Transformers are designed to do this to begin with, Animated seems to go too far.

For instance, I feel that these toys are far more comparable to Fast Action Battlers than they are to any main line in the past few years.

While Animated is the next big thing (and it is, I think this line will be a great big success), I don't think I can take my money along for the ride.

See, Animated is duplicating G1, or even Cybertron in its grand scheme. Characters, character archtypes, direction of the story, most everything (note, I think that's fine, no problem) is being replicated. I don't want to ramble here, so to cut to the point.

When I bought Movie Transformers, I didn't buy FABs. The 'older' standard version of the toy was superior and made it so I didn't need to buy FABs. Whether it's G1 or later Energon/Cybertron toys, I already have the superior versions of these toys.

Hopefully, that explains why I see these toys as unnecessary when compared to the last few years of releases.
