But as complicated as it is, it makes sense though.
Personally, I say make everything a one-off purchasable upgrade at a specific higher level, limit them to 1 'evolution' per bot/con. This could tie in very well with the tactic slots that QuietStorm was talking about...
Nebulons/Minicons/Storm Troopers/GI Joe/My Little Pony/+1 Generic Minions = pre-picked preset addition to a single stat. Wanna change that stat? Reset and re-pick a new minion.
Triple/Quad/Hex Changers/Multiple alts = only 1 alt picture shows up per battle (chosen randomly from however many you have.) Gives you an extra tactic slot and any knock-on penalties. If you reset, you have to buy the lot again.
Combiners/Powerlinx/Gestalts:
Just taking this stat means you can 'combine' with 'anyone', but the lower your score the less likely it is to work (well).
Im aware that tactics go up to 10 and the finer details can be ironed out by those with 'the knowledge' etc., but otherwise it seems to become so complicated. This way it follows the current system of tactics and works in my head...
