Maybe it's just me.

Or in the spirit of what I'm saying, "It isn't you, it's me."

It's not just you.

It's especially grating if you don't buy into the romance angle that season 2 seems to be actively courting.

Then again, I REALLY don't like Tailgate's capering for attention post-Dark Cybertron, so most of the storylines involving him feel forced, if only to appeal to the "OMG so cute" fans. :P

I certainly think it's hard when all that's in the preview is this and no hints towards other goodness. I'm a bit over the relationship thing, prefer to see more familial relationships explored like spark brothers, split sparks, shared sparks, etc. it does at times feel a little over the top and In our face. I too have been enjoying the main Transformers series more lately... The art has been better, the themes have been far reaching, and the character development is less focused on finding your conjux.

Still reading, and enjoying parts of it, but grimacing and feeling somewhat uncomfortable when scenes like this pop up.

How does Getaway drink? I know his faceplate probably goes away, but he's drinking and talking, nursing his drink, and his faceplate is closed.... Anyway...

He might drink like Brainstorm, through a hole in his arm. It might be a common thing for faceplate wearers.

Just thought of this: When Tailgate eats and drinks, that little spot on the bottom of his faceplate actually opens so he can access his mouth and Getaway has that same spot. that's how he drinks :BOT:

I'm not bothered by the romance aspect I just don't like Tailgate.

I never liked the visor/faceplate look. It's boring and half this cast carry the look.

I'd also rather see characters like Siren and Hound developed than the likes of Nautica and Rung both of whom I find uninteresting.

Pity they killed off poor old Trailbreaker.

Sales for MTMTE are very high right now aren't they? Roberts has been bringing in new audiences across a diverse range of demographics that are attracted to these storylines. It's impressive, it has to be said.

Season 1 was sensational and Season 2, following the Dark Cybertron mess, started quite strongly too. Since then, I can feel my patience wearing thin waiting for developments in the series' myriad, static plotlines.

Previously I had championed Roberts' placement of character above all else. However I couldn't help but laugh when I noticed my cheer at the first punch in an absolute AGE being thrown last issue; it occurred to me that I was either turning into a troglodyte or I had become somewhat bored. Maybe both.

I think it should be said that it's ok to like something and still have criticism of it.

With an active plot and monthly story, writers and readers have the opportunity to listen to one another about what is working or isn't, or why something was done or wasn't.

I for one was glad to see that it wasn't just me feeling like the plot was going off track or stagnating.

I usually only notice these things in retrospect when I'm reading the trades and a particular volume drags on or I don't go back to re-read it.

I think everyone forgets that the IDW transformerverse is now monogendered. It has a small amount of ladybots and a huge amount of genderless, sexless mechanoids who never even think it about.

If they were mono gendered, they wouldn't be referring to each other as "he and "she"! IMO Transformers is the wrong place for male/fembot relationships or Slash fiction. The Springer and Arcee thing in '86 wasn't very interesting. The Hot Rod/Arcee/Springer love triangle in DW would have been interesting had DW survived. But it would have been less interesting if there was another love triangle going on with another group of Transformers in the same book! This is what is going on in IDW. Several Transformers are hooking up and it's turning MTMTE into a Slash piece that overshadows everything else that's going on in the book!

This is what happens when authors are allowed to deviate too far from the source material.

But said source material must be allowed to change. if it remains stagnant it will become boring and repetitive, and if that happens no one will want to have anything to do with it.

I think we need to consider the whole aspect of transformers as a whole: They change. Transformers change shape, shift from one mode to another. they need to change. Change enables them to survive and thrive. I am a fan of many different transformers families since they all bring something different and unique to the table, some more than others.

This is a transformers book for a different age and audience, and it will change down the road too. there will be a completely different feel for them in 10 years. You just have to go with it. the original will always be the origin, but things need to grow off it, and as seen, many do enjoy the growth and the change. It keeps things interesting :BOT:

In the comic, they canonically they had no gender. I know people didn't that storyline, but Arcee was an experiment in adding that concept into their species (which in my opinion was Furman over thinking it). The reason we say 'He' or 'She' regarding robots, is cos we're humans that need a familiar word to give to our fictional characters/cars/boats/guns. It's either that or call them 'it'.

There's nothing wrong with having boy/girl looking mechanoids in fiction. Other franchises do and just get on with it. I just think it's really funny that there are people upset/super excited about the 'gay transformers', that canon wise have neither gender or sexual orientation.

Aide from all that though, there's still no excuse for 'shipping. That's what Deviantart's for :D

Jokes aside, shipping and the like is usually more of a fan thing, pairing up personally preferred couples and what not.

Now, creating subplots that seem to court and encourage that shipping community? MTMTE is most certainly guilty of that.

I always found mtmte to be a more character driven story which I suspect was intentional to further the difference from its sister comic(s). Now as for slash remark, people obviously do like this as the issues are selling from what I hear. So what if they don't conform to your idea of what you interpret the franchise to believe then no one is stopping you from making your own stories or comics.

MTMTE is selling. But when you compare it to sales of Dreamwave and even the late days of the G1, MTMTE would have been cancelled. I actually stopped buying this book 2 issues ago so I won't be joining you guys in viewing Roberts test the waters of pedophiia.

Any actual figures for that? Plus from what I'm led to believe, sales aren't what they used to be for any of the big two publishers since the days of the g1 comic.

As for that last comment...stretching much?

Comics are not as popular as they once were, especially with internet comics. And your comments about pedophilia are out of line here. That's a bit excessive.

And please: we thought you were done reading this a long time ago? so why are you still here? Especially if you quit 2 issues ago... :BOT:

Ask the guys that claim MTMTE is doing soooo well for their numbers first.

The pedo comments are not out of line. Both Rewind and Tailgate resemble young boys in height and head size. Tailgate's avatar was a baby!

What we are seeing is someone who hates anything past 1984, continues to post in threads that should no longer apply to them considering they pledged forever ago to stop reading this book, continues to do anything they can to undermine the book, even going so far as to bring in topics that are no where near applicable or morally right for the book to bring in, and create a firestorm out of said comments.

If you do not like it, stop reading it. Otherwise, you are still buying it, still reading it, and just complaining it away while still supporting it. :BOT:
