Just to clarify, I do not enjoy ponies.

RhA wrote:But Ponies and face-ripping are not going to mix anytime soon. Maybe the wackywacky world of comics can cater you.

That's absolutely true. But with this expanded universe and spin-offs and what not, they could go literally any direction. Maybe back stories for military characters, maybe Cybertron, maybe Beast Wars, maybe even this wacky-world you speak of.

And if Hasbro wants to sell their toys to kids, I say it'd be pretty weird--if not disturbing--that not at least one of those spin-offs is aimed at that target audience. And maybe, just maybe, they'll spin-off that spin-off into a crossover with ponies, and someone on this board gets something they deem amazing and are looking forward to.

And everyone else can ignore that movie, and watch the spin-off where they crossover with Doctor Who.

Oh, I have no interest in a pony spin-off. I just wanted to point out that I thought KREOFAN85's fantasies were relevant to the topic at hand to JazZeke.

The spin off movies can be away to help explore and flesh out characters from the movies that haven't gotten enough screentime like perhaps focus on Starscream's reign as Leader of the Decepticons during the time set between the 2007 movie and ROTF,a solo movie on the Dinobots having their adventures before or after AOE or even a movie focusing on Drift that looks into his past as a Decepticon before becoming an Autobot then if the movie takes place during the present day may have him face the Decepticon Justice Division from IDw hunting him down for deserting the Decepticons.

A solo movie with five characters is not a solo movie. It's a Guardians of the Galaxy Wannabe. Also, the Dinobots don't even talk in this continuity, so basically it would Jurassic Parkformers, which now that I say it sounds super awesome. Kinda.

And where is it said that this Drift also shares his IDW origin's...origin story?

Although I will admit, I would like to see Reign of Starscream as a movie.

Perhaps solo movie wasn't the best choice of words to describe the Dinobots movie but still it would be cool to see the Dinobots get their own movie. Also who says they won't speak eventually?

Drift's orgins as a Decepticon was mentioned in his toy bio in the AOE Generations line which can be a good start for a story for him.

As for Starscream it would be cool to see an adaptation of Reign of Starscream or at least a story inspired by it be on screen.

If the Dinobots were cooler in AoE, then yes I would like a Dinobot "solo" (a fine enough choice of words, I was just busting chops) movie.

As for Drift, I stayed clear of the movie toys for a while now, so I never actually read his bio. But, I think Lockdown would be a way more interesting character than Drift.

The only way I'll go see any spin-offs is if Michael Bay is unassociated with the movie entirely. No directing, no producing, no ANYTHING.

Writer Robert Kirkman and More Join Transformers Spin-Offs Writers' Room

Postby Va'al » Wed May 20, 2015 5:18 pm

Motto: "Till All Are Pun!"
Via a number of sources, but traced back to movie dedicated website Deadline, there are reports coming in of a new batch of script writers for the expanded Transformers cinematic universe (under Paramount's aegis). Standing out from the reports is the presumed involvement of The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, Pacific Rim's Zak Penn, Iron Man's Art Marcum & Matt Holloway and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Lost's Jeff Pinkner. That's quite the bunch right there - but what do you make of the announcement? Let us know in the Energon Pub!

EXCLUSIVE: Two months after Paramount and the Transformers brain trust of Michael Bay, Steven Spielberg and Lorenzo di Bonaventura picked Akiva Goldsman to incubate ideas for a multi-part sequel and spinoff films based on the billion-dollar franchise, they have finalized their “writers room.” And it’s a doozy.

Goldsman’s four-team roster features some of the top names in sci-fi, I’ve learned: Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, Iron Man scribes Art Marcum & Matt Holloway, Pacific Rim 2‘s Zak Penn and Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Lost‘s Jeff Pinkner. I’m hearing the ink isn’t even dry on the deals, but that is a major-league lineup to join Goldsman, who is spearheading it all for the studio, Hasbro, Spielberg and Bay (Bay and Goldsman were college buddies at Wesleyan). More writers will be added.

This is a major priority for new Motion Picture Group President Marc Evans, who’s tasked with getting more movies made. It marks an intriguing new step as studios put even more of a premium on the care and feeding of tentpole franchises, as is the case with James Cameron’s Avatar sequels and Disney’s process for developing its Marvel tentpoles.

That might be the most exciting Transformers movie news I've heard in quite a while. That's quite a roster of people already familiar with large groups of characters. Very excited about Walking Dead's Kirkman (though he can leave killing fan-favorite characters at the doorstep).
