Thanks for understanding. So yeah, we are both struggling. I just dont want to regret later when takara's Blurr will be like 60$ on e-bay later.

I think I will go for Takara but only because since he is out in august I can combine my shipping from Japan with Computron. Its kind of like a sign that they happen to come out the same month, or at least that is the way I am seeing it ;)

Just like the Technobots, Takara's Blurr blows the Hasbro version out of the water. Nicely done. :APPLAUSE:

Your in australia right? I forget. But if you are, I would think Takara would be a good option since the shipping from Japan would be less than from Japan to North America, no?

Everytime I try to shop online the shipping is so expensive.

BBTS shipping to Australia is like $75.

This is a gorgeous mold. Takara takes it in the colorways department but everyone forgets how awesome Animated Blurr was. That figure knocked it out of the park. I'm kinda hard pressed to purchase another Blurr after having owned the Animated version. That mold really portrays speed in bot mode better than any other.

That toy is pretty good but I did always have a problem with the back being a giant hole with his head.

That is the legit price you would find him at retail in Japan. Hasbro's at retail (if you find him ) would be 17.99$ + 4.99$ for that vehicle and titanmaster. So 22.98$ USD. Meaning that looking at the price, the Hasbro version would be 1$ more and give you an extra titanmaster. And of course, you dont get any of that awesome paint.

So the Hasbro one loses on all accounts objectively, and being as global and general as possible.

Blurr and scourge do not come with the extra vehicle only hard head and skull cruncher do so you are definitely paying more for Takara than Hasbro this time.

Blurr and Scourge don't come with extra vehicles, so they also come with a reduced price. Check for yourself. Willy-J's point still holds. Willy, stand up for yourself more. Don't be bamboozled by flawed logic!

How is it flawed logic? Right now they're available on hlj for $23.69 before shipping which at cheapest will be about $7. That's $30 total for the same figure you can get locally for $17-20

It's flawed logic because it's been proven several times now that the Japanese retail prices for Transformers are comparable to those of Hasbro's prices for equivalent products in the United States. Another flaw is that you're not taking into account the wildly fluctuating exchange rate between the US Dollar and the Yen. Look instead at the price of "Deluxe" sized figures in recent years. A deluxe-sized Transformers Legends figure went for about 3,100 yen (MSRP) two years ago. Now it's 3,200 yen. That's not a big price hike. If you go by US-based importers, the prices aren't going up at all in terms of dollars. Legends Arcee cost a US buyer $29.99 last year. This year, you can pre-order Legends Blurr for the same price. The difference is not what Takara charges for their figures domestically, but what kinds of mark-ups the middle men believe "foreign" consumers will put up with. Now, of course you're going to pay more for something imported through a middle man AND something you have to have shipped, but thems the breaks. You can do a little better in some cases buying directly from Japanese retailers, which Willy-J will be happy to tell you all about. Also, paying shipping for figures is something many collectors of Hasbro's Transformers have to do here in the United States anyway because of wonky distribution patterns. For many fans, they can't just walk into a store and get whatever they want, because the store doesn't have it. It's still got an overstock of the first wave of the latest line, or some other random wave when said store finally decided it needed more stock. Paying retail for all the figures you want is the BEST case scenario, but not the most likely for many.

Yeah that's all fine and dandy but the fact of the matter is you're not paying what Takara sets you're paying what the retailers are selling it for. Takara can set whatever price they want for it but unless you live in Japan that's not what you're paying. So it's entirely fair to say that Takara products cost more, they may not domestically retail for more money but they cost more to the rest of us.

That's kind of a "well duh," though. If that was the only point you were trying to make, why say it? We all know we pay more for Japanese products outside of Japan. For some of us, that's worth it, if it means the product is superior (whether objectively or just subjectively) to what is more readily available domestically. Willy-J was making a statement about the value of what Takara puts on their product versus what Hasbro does, which is to say they are priced about the same for their respective markets.

I'm not saying that it is or isn't worth it I was saying that he doesn't come with an extra vehicle and now because of the exchange rate it is more money than it was before. There was literally no reason for you to argue with me about something I'm right in saying. Even ignoring shipping costs Takara Blurr will still cost more money than Hasbro, simple as that.

Wait, what's being argued here? Plus don't forget the exchange rate could easily work against you as much as it benefits you. The market is a fickle beast.

Well, this is one nice thing about a preorder. Personally, I find the Takara options most tempting when it's a deco I'd be tempted to repaint myself. Factory paint and molded plastic beat what I could do and the price difference is less than I'd spend on supplies.

Plus customs are tough to resell if ever one ends up in a tough situation and must sell their collection, or if one is simply done with collecting for whatever reason.

And zerowolf, it wasnt that drastic an argument, just a debate in semantics and me making a mistake. By defintion, the price of toys in Japan is similar to the price of toys in the US, especially when its the same toys (kind of like how a mcdonalds meal would be around the same price anywhere). I was saying that not only are prices similar between Takara and Hasbro but they were the exact same to the dollar, which was a bit foolish. So yes, today due to exchange, a Hasbro deluxe at retail is a few US dollars cheaper than a Takara deluxe at retail. But only for the Legends deluxes. The TAV deluxes (which include some generations toys) are practically the same price.

Anyways, the main idea is that prices are similar in their own countries of distribution, but given some differring factors the exact price might be higher or lower from one version to the next, but at the same price point (which is what Wolfman Jake was saying). And thats just price. Cost is a totally different conversation and almost not related since it just depends on where you are in the world and if Hasbro distributed to you.

TO me, its kind of like this: the Takara version is practically a platinum edition version of a toy coming out (with nicer deco) exclusive to a store chain that I dont have in my area. So I am stuck ordering it online. Luckily though this edition isnt priced crazy higher than the retail version and is around the same price. I am just stuck paying shipping.

Cheers everyone!

New Images and Revealed Functionality for Takara Transformers Legends Blurr, Scourge and Shockwave

Postby william-james88 » Mon Apr 11, 2016 8:03 am

Motto: "'till All Are One"
We finally saw some colour photos of Takara's Legends Blur(r) last week and with the Takaratomymall listing up now, we have some new images. One of these reveals a new functionality that has yet to be known. The front of the vehicle, which is used for a shield, can also be flipped over to become a smaller vehicle for the Titan Master to ride in.

Also, Takara Tomy Mall has revealed colour images for Legends Scourge and Shockwave.
