Let the dude be snarky, yo. :-P

This beast is amazingly beautiful. TB it's :TAKARATOMY:'s, though... never have been willing to ship overseas for a product I can get hear, cheaper.

Well your in luck because so far it looks like this beautiful beast will look very similar coming from Hasbro. so much so that there is still debate over whether or not the toy in these images is indeed the Takara version or the hasbro version.

What makes anyone sure that what Takara has been showing off for their Legends Trypticon isn't just the Hasbro Titans Return version? All of Takara's promotional pictures and in-hand samples look identical to their Hasbro counterparts. September is still a good 5 months away. It's likely Legends Trypticon isn't even in production yet. I'd bet Takara is still finalizing their plastic colors and paint apps for their version. They want to build the hype up now, though, so the enthusiasm for Legends doesn't die off during the short hiatus it'll take to squeeze in the new movie toys this summer. Hence, they're just borrowing the Hasbro version of Trypticon to show off to their fans what is in store with a product that, in all honesty, still looks fantastic no matter what personal touches Takara will add to it before they release it.

I dont know man, Hasbros is getting released close to the same time as Takara's with a street date of August (or so I heard), so both would be at a similar production stage. Plus it would be really odd for Takara to go all out marketting and preselling a toy by not showing the right one. People thought they were also doing that with the last knight line since it looked the same as Hasbro's but it turns out thats because they are the same toy. So there is precedent this year for both companies to sell the same toys.

The top image is Trypticon from Toyfair; the middle image is, of course, the glorious scale comparison Takara showed off with the calculator; and the bottom image is a specific crop of the CGI render Hasbro put out. There is a circle on Trypticon's missile assembly thing on his back - it is coloured dark grey on the Hasbro version, but goes as the same colour as his missile assembly on the picture shown off by Takara. This isn't just a Toyfair show floor thing either where it's better painted; the CGI render shows off the circle as being coloured grey as well. From a quick search through the news section, this same-colour-as-the-missile-assembly-thing is consistent on all showings Takara has made of Trypticon, and the circle being grey is consistent on all showings Hasbro has made of Trypticon. This is proof that the Trypticon Takara has been showing off is, indeed, the version they will be releasing and it has extremely minor differences to Hasbro's.

Thanks Kurona, the video that showcased Legends Dinosaurer also has that part left unpainted. So these are indeed two different releases that are nearly identical with Hasbro's having that extra paint app.

I didn't check over the whole figure; so for all I know there are other sections of the toy where Takara has applied a bit more paint - could go either way. Though at the end of the day, the fact is that these are two different toys that are nigh-indistinguishable.

If I recall though, their Full-Tilts had more significant differences? I think Takara's used a different shade of purple.

Talking about different shades of colour on a Titan Class toy though, for all we know Takara's shade of black could be different to Hasbro's... in the same way the shades of green between the Devastators were, to the point you wouldn't even realise the difference unless you literally put them right up next to each other.

If you've went ahead and paid extra to pre-order Dinosaurer... well, I hope dearly for your sake that he has a really, really, really, REALLY nice box.

I never liked that comparison to Smokescreen and Starscream, since the intention isnt there and that makes a big difference. Its more of a coincidence rather than Hasbro cheapening out by reusing a design in some way.
Well, Hasbro did reuse the G2 Smokescreen transformation scheme twice more for both 2010 Terradive and the FOC Seeker mold, so who's to say that Energon Starscream wasn't also a deliberate but more refining reuse of that transformation?

That's incredible that there would be so few differences between the Hasbro and Takara versions. I'm impressed. I guess even Takara has to admit this time that Hasbro knocked it out of the park with this Trypticon.

It makes me really wonder what Hasbro will do for an SDDC version of Trypticon this summer (if they even bother). I'm thinking they'd just put some random chrome on it like they did for Devastator. At least Metroplex's SDCC chrome apps made sense and were based on the original toy.

I thought i had read somewhere that hasbro said it was not intentional, But I dont remember where.

Looking at it closer, Takara Trypticon also seems to be missing yellow detailing on the front of his foot present on the Hasbro version. Looks like stickers on the Hasbro version though.

Swapping out some of the stickers for actual paint apps, even if the detailing turns out to be the same, would be a major selling point for Takara's version of Trypticon. Hasbro's sticker implementation hasn't exactly been inspiring confidence of late.

A swap would be nice, but we know thats not happening since Takara doesnt have extra paint where Hasbro has stickers, instead its left bare.

I think it was said somewhere that Takara's toy will come with a sticker sheet.

Takara's Metroplex also came with a sticker sheet, though it was edited compared to Hasbro's releases. There were fewer stickers overall, some of which were unique to Takara's offering. Takara's Metroplex also included more and different paint applications compared to the Hasbro releases. I'm not sure how or if the sticker sheets differ among the Hasbro versions and the Takara version of Fortress Maximus, though. They could be identical, unlike what was done with Metroplex. I could see things going either way with Trypticon.

Takara vs Hb?

Their decal operations really differed from each other. Same same is for Dinosaurer vs Trypticon. More or less. even the plastic coloration will differ.

As for Hbs decal operations, let's just say I'm leaning more to the JP style.

But the only pieces that I think they share... would be their wheels. I'm looking at them, and I think they are the same mold. Can someone with both toys confirm? This is an absolutely insane retool.

I think the circular plastic piece that is part of the cab/trailer connection is the same
Yeah, I asked Powered Convoy about this awhile back and he confirmed that the only unchanged parts shared between Ultra Magnus and Super Ginrai are indeed just the wheels and that little circular piece. If it weren't for Powermaster Optimus Prime acting as the middleman between these two, I'd think they were completely separate molds using shared engineering (a la G2 Smokescreen and Energon Starscream) with a few shared parts (a la TR Blurr and Chromedome), instead of one being a heavy retool of another heavy retool of the other.
dont forget the part right abovr the hips where the front of the trailer hinges to form the robot chest and the hinge section for the chest its self are the same on both ;)

Years of experience K! Only time when Takara's decal operations failed was during their Prime versions.

And if we base the most recent, Metroplex vs Metroflex, The latter looks more scifi unlike the former which was a bit kiddie.

Though in the end, personal preference for the collector at hand.

isnt the most recent example Hasbro fortmax vs takara fortmax? where the difference was colour, eletronics and molding. There is no molding difference her, or electronics, and so far no one has spotted any place where Takara had either extra paint or extra details than Hasbro's. I would love a list of differences that show what the takara one really has that the hasbro one does not. Because right now its just speculation with no evidence and thats kind of a bummer for those who paid more and preordered the takara one.

It's just that precedence simply doesn't seem to have a role here when we know exactly what both look like - and that we know they have extremely minuscule differences. Unless you really don't want that little semi-circle on Trypticon's missile assembly coloured grey, there's no clear advantage to the Takara version this time around I'm afraid.

Well, as far as can be seen; the only differences between Hasbro and Takara for this toy are so minor the two are nigh-indistinguishable. Or is there something else you've noticed?

Years of experience K! Only time when Takara's decal operations failed was during their Prime versions.

And if we base the most recent, Metroplex vs Metroflex, The latter looks more scifi unlike the former which was a bit kiddie.

Though in the end, personal preference for the collector at hand.

Until we get to see a side by side comparison all I can do is make an inference /speculate (leaning more on the former). Regardless, will be sticking to the Takara as

a. Already per ordered
b. Only available venue of procurement
c. Whatever differences from the Hb will just an an incidental freebie and bragging rights
d. 1st two reasons are the biggest reason of staying with the Takara version.

Reveal of Upcoming Takara Legends Toys to be Released in September: Sharkticon, Hot Rod, Kup

Postby william-james88 » Wed Apr 05, 2017 8:09 am

Motto: "'till All Are One"
Fellow Seibertronian Fenrir has informed us of listings of the other Transformers Legends toys to be released in September, along with Trypticon. These have appeared on facebook on both the Loopaza Megastore page and the Planet Iacon page.

Image

For those who cannot read Japanese this translates to:

LG44 Sharkicon & Sweeps (Titans Return Gnaw with an additional Titan master Head)
LG45 Target Master Hot Rodimus (Titans Return Hot Rod with a Titan Master vehicle/weapon)
LG46 Target Master Kup (Titans Return Kup with a Titan Master vehicle/weapon)

The listing also shows that the three most popular Movie the Best toys will get a rerelease: Voyager Optimus Prime, Megatron and Soundwave.

The prices mentionned are incredibly low though, so this may be the cost to sellers rather than the actual MSRP.
If you have any news, rumours, or hot new sightings to report which you feel should be front paged,
