TF:Movie Era - Picking up the Pieces

Postby NickRyder » Mon Jun 15, 2009 5:49 pm

Just a little story that takes place immediately after the events of the Battle of Mission City and the end of the movie. I might add to it a bit, maybe have a 'Con pop up later in the story.

Enjoy!

Mission City - Earth - Aftermath of the Battle

Optimus Prime had painfully transformed back into his alternate mode. His shiny paintjob was marred by the scratches, blasts and damage he took during the battle. He didn't realize just how bad it was until one of the brave soldiers that fought alongside them made a remark.

"Uh oh, better call Maaco!" Epps said with a chuckle "You alright Optimus?"

"I am fine, despite the death of my brother, Megatron and my lieutenant, Jazz." Prime said through the speakers inside the cabin. "At least the Allspark is destroyed, save for the long shard that I am still deciding what to do with, and Earth is safe."

"So do you uhm... Autobots actually die?" Epps inquired as he examined some of the damage, still amazed how closely it resembled an actual semi and not an alien, shapeshifting robot.

"Yes, we have a... spark within us that can be extinquished. Sometimes we can be rebuilt, even from massive damage, but extensive damage, like being torn in half... can sometimes overwhelm our spark." Prime replied as he rolled over to where Ratchet was trying to revive Jazz, futilily, but he felt he had to. "He is offline Ratchet, you did all you could."

"I know Prime, but... I had to try and put him back together. If only the Allspark was not destroyed." Ratchet said wistfully.

"If only..." Prime said softly, barely audible over the sounds of army helicopters and Hummers that arrived in the area to try and contain the damage.

Sam and Mikala approached Prime in Ironhide, "So that's where you went off to Optimus." Sam said as he jumped out of the pickup truck. "After the battle, we saw you go off somewhere."

"I had to think Sam." Optimus said as he shut off his engine. "Find a trailer for me, I'll transport you and Bumblebee and Ratchet back to your home. Rachet can finish his repairs to Bumblebee on the way."

"If you don't mind Prime... I will need to... borrow some of Jazz's parts to effect repairs, as we're nowhere near our own base and many of their parts are similar."

This would normally have upset Optimus, as he always refused the request to cannibalize fallen Autobots or Decepticons, but given that the source of life from their Planet was destroyed... they had to do what had to be done.

"Take what you need. Only what you need. We must try to find ways of repairing ourselves with native materials." Prime ordered "Now let's transform... and roll out."

Meanwhile --

Ironhide slipped away and managed to locate and collect some of the spent ordinance, damaged weaponry and scrap parts from the battle. His optic sensors caught sight of something and when he reached down to grab it, "Huh, so that's where my knee plate went." he chuckled and put it in place, using his finger torch to weld it back into place. "What else of mine did I lose?" he muttered as he picked up one of Brawl's cannons. "Hmm... this could be handy."

"Ironhide, Prime gave the order to roll out." Ratchet said as he drove over "What are you doing?"

"Picking up some pieces I lost during the battle, do you think this cannon will work with my systems?" he held up the shoulder cannon he tore off of Brawl

"Possibly, but do you really want Decepticon tech?" Ratchet cocked his head

"Might come in handy someday, or at least to see what they did to it, how we can duplicate some of the patterns for our own use." Ironhide said as he scooped up the scrap and debris into his bed and created a cover. "I'm ready."

Ratchet nodded his head and transformed back to his alternate mode, "I will be driving back with Sam and Bumblebee. We'll meet at the temporary base the military has designated for us."

"Not bad fighters for little fleshlings." Ironhide chuckled "I especially like the one named Lennox."

"You do seem similar." Ratchet commented as he saw Lennox run up to him. "Speak of the human..."

"Hey I need a ride back to the command post on the outskirts, no one can spare a hummer or a jeep for me." Lennox smirked, "And since you guys are heading out..."

"Hop in Captain." Ironhide as he popped his door open

"Thanks, y'know I've always wanted a Topkick." Lennox said as he sat behind the wheel.

"Topkick?"

"The model of truck you are." Lennox explained.

"Oh, I knew a Topkick back on Cybertron..." Ironhide started

"Good luck Captain... " Ratchet said as he drove away, knowing that Ironhide loved to talk about his old commander, Topkick

"So as I was saying... Topkick and I used to battle Decepticons for over 2100 years..." Ironhide started his story

Captain Lennox could tell by the way the story was going, it was going to be a long trip. As they pulled away, he noticed a beatup looking police cruiser that followed them, then disappeared. He shook his head 'I must be going crazy, thinking I see Decepticons in everything now.' Then he noticed the Mountain Dew vending machine running around.
"Yep definately crazy..." he said under his breath
