Sideswipe and Sunstreaker are the PERFECT example of Hasbro really thinking through the process of reusing a mold later on. I think they should do this on all character specific molds, such as Cyclonus. Something they should have done with Cyclonus' mold is figure out what to do with the "ears" in robot mode. If they had just gotten creative with the ears such as the ability to remove them to combine them as a weapon or to fold them back during the transformation process, it would've easily provided them with a unique mold to use as another character or two.

I must admit that I prefer drastic repaints over minor repaints released as the same character later down the road, though when I look at it from a marketing perspective, I get why Hasbro is doing minor repaints because it keeps the primary character on the shelf longer but with a different SKU (?) which keeps retailers happy because it's a "new" product.

They've done that with other models too, such as Ironhide/ Rachet. I'm sure we'll see a Swindle repaint out of Hound in Universe 3.0 or whatever they plan to call it, but I was just saying that it is nice to see molds designed specifically for one character, and really only that character. Universe Cyclonus is perfect to me and I like that his mold is unique like Astrotrains and Tankor's (Octane).

Did you read the Shattered Glass story or did you get a hold of the 2008 BotCon SG Set?

Because the repaint is dead on perfect for the story and to match the set.

Like or dislike Shattered Glass, the repaint is exactly what it should be.

Why are so many bitching about this? When the original set came out everybody wanted more toys for it and where hoping for this exact toy to come out. When the Uni Cyclonus finally hit shelves people where begging for him to be repainted as SG Cyclonus, going so far as to buying 5 of this guy so they could have G1 Cyclonus with 3 troops and one to repaint as SG. And now the toy actually gets announced and shown off and the same people that where offering BJs to FunPub to make it bitch about it being made? #-o

So what will you do when FunPub announces SG Soundwave or SG Ratchet, curse and quit your club subscription?

It looks like no matter what they do, is it complete the Classics Seekers, complete two popular older sets (Razorclaw and Elita), make more SG toys as people that bought the original set liked them they always seem to piss somebody off. 8-}

I've always been a little critical of the club, and I was initially a unhappy with Dion, but he's really grown on me, and this figure is *PRECISELY* the kind of thing the club should be doing. I'm happy it's doing "out there" stuff. If I wanted mainstream, I'd just buy it from Hasbro.

Uh, I don't think anyone is really "bitching about this." Some really like it; some obviously don't. They want to extend the SG storyline, then great! Personally, not my thing, but oh well. Really, your last paragraph sums it up--someone will always be unhappy--but frustration rants won't help your blood pressure over this. :grin:

Besides, those who don't want it still have the awesome Punch/Counterpunch to guarantee their membership renewal...

Even if I hadn't done a complete 180% on Shattered Glass, I'd still get both figures this time around. The Cyclonus looks great so far and I love the mold to begin with. Whoever figured out Counterpunch could work on the Sunstreaker/Sideswipe mold needs a pat on the back too. Just great offerings this time around. Now if only we could do something about Dion.

Eh, I'll see to see what the fiction does for me.
