Wait , you want bay gone but you want the fifth film to suck badly because bay isn't there?

Personally, I think bay should finish 5 & 6. Let him finish his TF movies then with number 7, complete change of everyone involved, maybe get some of the people behind the comics involved.

Yup. I want people to want Bay back.

I doubt we're going to get any new writers till after this story arc.

Also whoever said Spielberg for director, don't forget that he was the one who created the core Sam and bumblebee plotline from the first trilogy. Want to return to that

Hardly. As far as talentless goes, he must have talent to be this far in his career, I'm sure Spielberg, Paramount and Hasbro agree. Each to their own though, you don't like him that's fine, I feel the same about Christopher Nolan. Of course, I don't say he's not talented, I just don't like the movies he does.

And ruining the franchise? Didn't realize that bringing millions of dollars and new fabe into the franchise was ruining it. Someone better let Hasbro know quick!

Saying he's not talentless because he has a career but you don't like his movies is like saying Yoko Ono has talent because she has made records. He's a hack. He has horrific scores on rotten tomatoes. But allow me to give examples then. We all watch transformers because we love transformers. The TF movies have absolutely no bot character development. The awful characters they have as humans are what he tries to make the main characters in the movie. TF 4 dragged the human characters through every single scene in the movie. So the fights and action scenes were stuffed with as much crap as he could stuff in there and have the humans flying through all the explosions as well. How about when that speeder ship stolen from the avengers crashes? The ship cannot stand the impact and breaks into pieces as it tumbles through the city streets and into the car. Whalberg gives a quick "are you ok?" And everyone miraculously is fine without even a limp, to the point he's fine enough to crack a beer for an ad. Bay sucks. He's a hack. Everyone of his movies from Pearl Harbor to TMNT completely misses the point. The movies make money because we crave a live action movie. There is no competition, thus our money goes to his flops. I just hope in the next one I don't have to hear Optimus prime scream "I'll kill you all!" Again and again.

Your opinion is he's a hack, and thats fine, but remember your opinion isn't the only one out there. Also you didn't comment about hasbro and their backing of this, or on Spielberg or Paramount.

What would you say to the people out there who enjoy these movies? Afterall they were not made solely tor fans.

I take reviews with a pinch of salt, I mean reviews told me titanic was a good movie...I've never been so bored :P

AOE proved otherwise since Optimus, who is a bot, definitely underwent a character development arc in that movie.

It was just questionable development since, by the end of the movie, he ultimately wound up being almost exactly the same as he was in the first three movies.

But it was still development since he was completely off his rocker throughout the movie, only getting back on his rocker by the film's conclusion.

So even though his development was less "two steps forward" and more "one step back, then one step forward", making him end up right where he started prior to the fourth movie, it was still development for a bot. Not necessarily well done development, but development nonetheless. :P

TMNT wasn't solely his. He was but one of six producers for that film. His name only came up once during the entire end credits, and wasn't one of the names that the credits gave emphasized attention to.

Jonathan Liebesman, A.K.A. "Diet Michael Bay Lite", was the director of that film.

what about the other other autobots? what about the decepticons? the only development we got from the other autobots is they sort of like humans again. as for the cons we only have megatron/galvatron and starscream who have had any sort of personality. this area needs a lot of work still

All I was responding to was the claim that the movies were completely devoid of character development for any of the bots, in which I pointed out the sole instance of character development that was given to a bot (Optimus) by these movies.

In other words, these movie did give development to at least one bot. They just failed to do so for any of the others. :P

Ok. So everyone has the inexplicable compulsion to counter a point on the Internet. I say he's a hack and didn't develop any characters we care about (the bots) and the best support for Bay is "well he did kinda develop an arc (well not an arc, a circle) for one of them but not the others." So is that saying Bay is good for the franchise or are you agreeing he's a shat director?

Well, if you're going to have an opinion and voice it, be prepared to get a reply. That's not inexplicable, it expectable. Kinda what ou yourself are doing. You respond to someone, someone responds to you.

But let's separate opinion form fact for a second.

These movies are made for money, Bay made a crapload of money, so the mission is succesfull. Wether you like the execution or not. Fact: Money was made. Opinion: What you think about the content of the movie of Bay as the director.

They were developed enough for me. All I need to know is that they like to kill things. If you want to go deeper, read the comics.

Not trying to be negative. If you've looked through the prior posts you can see we are having a discussion. I'm making the claim the Michael bay leaving would be great for the franchise. Then people debated the validity of that statement. I posted examples of why and how he's terrible and peoples retorts are about how he's "not that terrible, but not good." And the last guy basically said if I wanted character development I should read the comics. That's a shame that the fans here accept that rather than vocally complain that Bay can't get the job done. I'm encouraging a rally cry. "Baiting" would be if I came on the TF forum and just posted "GI Joe is way better than TF could ever be" and leave it at that, baiting fans to argue with me.

Bay can get the job done. He got the job done right 4 times in a row. Everything you complain about is a concern with the writer(s). Not Bay. Bay is one of the hardest working directors in the business. Look at the technical aspects that go into making these movies. None of them would have ever been possible without him. Yet, everyone seems to appreciate what the hell comes out of someone's mind and onto a piece of paper, more than they do the physical work and labor that goes into these movies. And that considered, I can't think of anything better for the job than Bay. If you have a problem with the story or characters, take that up with the writer. It's not that damn hard to write a coherent story. The great things about these movies is the physical work that goes into them; and that's what Bay is in charge of. And that's what Bay gets right EVERY time.

You know the biggest flaw with you Bay-Haters?

You're so damn narrow minded EVERYTHING is Bay's fault.

Bay didn't write the script. Changing the Director WILL make a difference, but you're still going to have a crappy story.

There was a good point brought up about the writers. I will concede that bay's movies are visually stunning and I wouldn't armchair quarterback and even pretend I could do anything close to that. But he does have a say in the casting and the blatently obvious "zoom in on her ass" shots which while I'm not complaining from a testosterone standpoint, but theatrically when it's to the point that the audience chuckles or groans at the seen, it kinda pulls you from the story. I think he would also have the artistic license on the design and characters of the bots which were odd. Like the brothers who were borderline black-face or in AOE the samurai with a viceroy-esque racist Asian accent, even though he was a Bugatti. All that said, again I concede that yes, the writers need to be canned. I really gave up on the movies when I watched Megatron kneel in front of a prime on life support. This is the guy who mouthed off to Unicron, are you kidding? He would have pulled the plug on that bitch long ago.
