Do it. The superior TAV version can still be found on Mandarake for less than retail sometimes, only 1,500 JPY (US$13.30 or £10, though shipping is going to hurt a bit). Same goes for quite a few figures in the TAV line.

He's good and I like his retool Bludgeon just as much, but I just found all the others better. If you liked Megatonus, I think you will like the other Decepticons just as much.

I liked Soundwave enough to choose him as the best RID toy of 2017 https://www.seibertron.com/transformers ... ast/40447/
But when it came to a top 5, I just couldnt find a place for him. Other figures simply didnt have the exposed arms.

Also, the galleries will eventually come back. For now, our site owner was preoccupied with other things site related.

It was just a mistake, glad you liked this list!

ZeroWolf wrote:Never really had a chance to grab the rid figures as there was always a generations to wanting my attention. This lost though may be something I use to hunt down a few.

I highly recommend them. They were a refreshing change to the mold fatigue in combiner wars (which transferred over to POTP) and there were no gimmicks. Just plain fun and new. And yes, grab that Takara TAV Thunderhoof when you can!

Wireless_Phantom wrote:Although I didn't get a copy of Fracture myself, I had heard good things about him some time ago and wound up giving a copy of him to Toys for Tots. I hope some kid out there got into the hobby because of it.

Great story, I am sure that made one happy kid!

carytheone wrote:I feel Scorponok, Stormshot, Soundwave, Quillfire and Starscream could use an honorable shout out. It's like the figures got better and better as the line progressed.

They definitely got better in the second year when more Decepticons came out but I feel the last year had too many repaints/retools with the original molds not being as good as past ones.

I do also love Scorponok, Soundwave, Quillfire and Stasrcream (very original transformation on that last one) but Stormshot felt weak, especially the transformation. He did have cool panel lining on the wings though.

Rogue-Primal wrote:Meh i dont have toys from this line and yet i only like autobots in this line. The Decepticons have so many weird Animal designs in the like the Crab. Just ugly but Steeljaw is a exception he's ok

You should really try out the other decepticons. Megatronus, Fracture and Bludgeon dont even have animal designs.

No mention of Warrior Megatronus? How sad, that was a really good figure that surprisingly perfect in almost every way. Megatronus also gave us the wonderful toys of Blastwave and Bludgeon.

I like Blastwave but never found a Bludgeon, much to my sadness. I did find it a little lacking in comparison to others.

Very few duds in the warrior or legion classes. Warrior sideswipe was disappointing. Much like Generations, all the plane alts could use a lot less exposed arms. Fracture and Thunderhoof are just so much better. I wish they would have made a legion Fracture or a warrior crazybolt. Crazybolt not being released in the U.S. is a huge loss.

Thanks burn :-) I'll bare that in my mind, I do need to see what shipping will be like from manadrake though, though I think kapow still has a few TAV figures in if I remember right :-? Are there any other recommends as well that I should watch out for? How do the deployers fare, as surprisingly there's still a few retailers who have them in stock over here.

The deployers are bad except for maybe crazybolt. Drift only fits one minicon. Fracture fits an extra on his left arm but both figures are severely compromised by the gimmick. Overload is a little better, holds three minicons, but his gimmick doesn't work in bot mode.

It doesn't look like Kapow have Thunderhoof in either RID or TAV versions, unfortunately. They do appear to have a couple toys left from the line, but none of what I'd really call the True Standouts (aside from the Grimlock that Will listed)..

Though to piggyback on this a little bit, where would everyone rank some of the more "standard" Warrior figures (like Strongarm for example)? A couple stores around here are putting the more common ones on sale now, and I'm starting to get the itch to buy.

Strongarm is ok. Ratchet is a little better version of the mold. The shoulders are wonky, but nails Strongarm. Windblade is better than the generations mold but not as good as the TR mold. OP is just meh. All the cons, Blurr, Bee, and Grimlock are better than OP with Soundwave being the best after the top 5, then Steeljaw being the worst. Sideswipe and Jazz are barely better than OP. The seekers are slightly better than Steeljaw.

So is steeljaw a weak mold then as I always liked his design. I did see warrior drift in my net searches but it was the standard deco and I don't know whether to get it while it's there or hold off, save a bit more then splash out for origins drift. I found TAV Thunderhoof on amazon for £22ish

I am probably on the minority here, but fracture is my least favorite among all the warrior class that i own. I feel like the bike is too wide, considering the kind of bike he is going for, and his bot mode doesn't feel as unique as the other decepticons.

That is an amazing assessment of the line, kurthy, we think the exact same way

Just to talk more about strongarm, the problem is her warrior figure isnt even the best toy of her. Her legion class figure is pretty good (made Cobotron's top 10 list) and her standout toy is the TAV battlepack.

Image

Image

By the way, speaking of Optimus, while the original warrior figure is not great, the retool is pretty awesome!

And if we are talking about Optimus figures, the best is probably this one:

Ah, that Optimus is a little out of my price range for RID. I get these for my oldest who loved the show. Sadly, for American releases, anything bigger than warrior class just wasn't fun. Neither a puzzle box nor an action figure.

My biggest gripe about the warrior class is the lack of pegs for minicons. Launchers aren't necessary, just a couple of pegs. There were some places where the pegs just needed to be resized and they would have been perfect and not restrictive.

Whichever is cheaper :D

The best part about him is the mold and accessories, the deco itself isnt really that big a deal (unlike with Strongarm).

Though I forget is Grimlock was released idividually in Japan or just in a two pack.

So yeah, whichever is the cheaper option for you, go for it.

Both :)

The single release of the Battle Pack version (TAV42) has red clear parts and a yellow redeco of the Major Mayhem Mini-Con called Volcano, while the two-pack version (TAV45, with Optimus Prime) has blue clear parts and Volcano decoed like Grimlock.

The resident Rewind... well, half of one

- TR Galvatron right arm (the gun one)
- CW Brake-Neck/UW Wildrider, CW Offroad
- TR Twinferno & Grotusque
- Greenlight, Lancer and PotP Elita-1 (plus repro Victorion hands and feet?)

I have found the minicons are pretty fun to play with. They are super small and simple so they make great fidget toys. I plan on painting them to give them a little more color and detail but for now they are just nice to take around.

Right...I'm now roughly £25 poorer but I've got warrior Fracture heading my way and the two pack grimlock. I've found plenty of TAV Thunderhoofs though none for less than £22 so he'll have to wait.
