The Platinum Edition stuff is exactly the same as G1 toys, right? If so, then these are my first ever G1 pickups!

Yes, they most definitely are, so congratulations on your first G1 toys. You actually picked up some of the very best toys that generation had to offer. And plus, these came with extras that didnt exist back then, those pink energon cubes. They are made to fit perfectly inside their bodies and they are a new addition to this edition, so congrats again!
GET OUT! You're in too deep! Quick, while there's still time!ClearlySane88 wrote: So that makes the series I'm collecting right now G1, Masterpiece and Generations, oh my!

Well I am Australian. It's kinda what we're known for.

If you could see pictures of my desk, you would know it's far too late for me to get out, lol.
That's awesome! Long live G1ClearlySane88 wrote: Picked up a little something while out at Kmart today. The Platinum Edition stuff is exactly the same as G1 toys, right? If so, then these are my first ever G1 pickups!
The Seeker Squadron is currently only available through online specialty shops, and Wal-Mart.CA. So hopefully that means they'll eventually show up at Wal-Mart.com and even on store shelves.ClearlySane88 wrote:I was actually looking for the Seeker Squadron, but I can't seem to find those guys anywhere locally so I decided to get the Insecticons instead.
Good stuff. Can I assume you opened the bugs and like them then?ClearlySane88 wrote:I definitely want to grab more G1 figures though.
G1 isn't quite as daunting if you're patient and/or stick to reissues. But for must haves, Kan has a great list up there. Only thing I'd add is get a Seeker (or all of them!) and a Datsun (Prowl!). That's G1 to me!ClearlySane88 wrote:So that makes the series I'm collecting right now G1, Masterpiece and Generations, oh my!
Well... ok. There's a long in depth answer I can provide when I get home from work, but the short breakdown is like this:ClearlySane88 wrote:So, since I'm starting to collect G1 toys, anyone have any good tips for avoiding Knock-offs or bootlegs when searching? If you do, please PM me.
OK. I'm going to take the easy way out of the long answer I said I'd give you.shajaki wrote:Well... ok. Between reissues and KO's you can get a very sizable chunk of G1 sealed and pristine. Theres certain molds that are "lost/broken/whatever", so if you see a brand new one of these "lost" figures for 40-80 bucks, its undoubtedly a KO. But generally, if you're ever in doubt head here and ask or wiki it

This store has all the KO's I know of. So steer clear of those. Or head straight for them. I'm not a cop
Oh, there's a tonne of KO's out there. But there's ones that look SO legitimate that they cross the line from KO and should almost be re-labeled as "counterfeit". Ans as far as the counterfeits go, I'm confident that's the bulk of it.ClearlySane88 wrote:Thanks for the info shajaki! Strange, I would've thought there would be much more than that.

What do you mean? That the bulk of what I find on eBay, etc. is "counterfeit"?
william-james88 wrote:Found Generations Tailgate and Skrapnel at Winners (what TJ Maxx is called in Canada) for 5.00$ cdn.
I took Tailgate because I was curious of the mold and didnt want to pay 12$cdn for Windcharger who comes without a targetmaster.
I remember now how much I dislike the plastic used in Last year's toys. It feels closer to the plastic dollar store toys are made of (or KO G1 toys). I also wanted to try the mode out to see if it belonged in this thread, as someone had advised. It doesnt. It's not a great toy but the only annoying part is the cheap plastic.

CAN'T THEY HAVE NEMESIS PRIME, ACID STORM, AND CLIFFJUMPER FOR ONCE?
Jeez...
Beside, the Tailgate mold is complete garbage. It's just a mess of panels that would make the worst shellformers blush in embarasment.
