OK first the back story. I never finished high school. It's not something I've proud of and I don't think I've ever mentioned online before. The reason why I was withdrawn from my high school was because I suffering from acid reflux, an ulcer, and a hernia and by the time I had surgery to correct and recovered from that I missed so much school that I couldn't get caught up. So the school withdrew me and for the record: I DID NOT DROP OUT! This decision was made by the school NOT me.

After that I spent a year getting on disability and once that was taken care I spent time trying to find a way to get my High School Diploma or GED. I finally found one and got the money to pay them up front (which was a good thing I did) and I started.

I choose a slower pace because I wanted to spend time and do it right. I also found that if I did more than 3 exams a day I would tend to get more answers wrong.

Then my personal life fell apart, my grandmother got sick and required 24/7 care and when it got to the point that both father and I were unable to give her the care she required she had to be put in a nursing home. Then my first cat Butterscotch died, then I was forced to file chapter 7 bankruptcy and I lost my house in a foreclosure. Then I was forced to move to an apartment. And try as I might I couldn't get find the energy and/or the time to get back to my studies.

My Dad and I moved again 2 years ago and I decided to update my records with the online school and I decided that since it looked like I was on the last course to complete it. And I did.

And now I'm a high school grad!

Congratulations! :D As somebody who missed the entirety of public school up until my high school Sophomore year due to eldercare, I can safely relate ;)

Congrats! That's a super cool thing to do. I dropped out at 16 myself due to family issues and stuff, so your story feels sort of familiar in that sense.

Anyway, great job and good to see your perseverance pay off! Are you planning on maybe doing some college as well now that you've got this under your belt?
