Profile: Beneath Doubledealer’s heavily armored chestplate beats the fuel pump of an avaricious sociopath. He is that very rare of Transformers: he fights not for a faction but purely for his own remuneration. Although nominally a Decepticon (mainly because they’re less likely to shoot the unscrupulous Doubledealer on sight than the more principled Autobots), he has served both factions at one point or another during the endless wars and has also sold his services to non-Transformers at various times as well. Many Transformers would not survive long as mercenaries in the wars of the Cybertronians, but Doubledealer’s talents in mass destruction have allowed him to endure in his unique way of life. Whether engaging in open warfare or in more subtle covert operations, Doubledealer has few peers in either faction.

Just as Doubledealer is not picky about for whom he fights, he is not picky about how he is paid. Sometimes he fights for energon, other times for advanced technology, and other times for reasons that are a mystery to everyone but Doubledealer. But prospective employers who contemplate betraying the despised mercenary would be well advised to remember that just as Doubledealer always completes his mission, he always collects his pay – even if that means scrapping the one that hired him.

Abilities: In all three modes, Doubledealer is a powerful combatant. His tank mode can reach speeds approaching 100 km/h on level surfaces and moves easily over broken terrain. Mounted in his turret (on his shoulder in robot mode) is a smoothbore cannon capable of firing a variety of unguided and semi-guided munitions to a range of 20,000 meters and tipped with warheads ranging from armor-piercing to anti-personnel cluster munitions to structure-busting high-explosive. Alternately, he can use his cannon to fire image-guided missiles to a range of 50,000 meters. On the top of his turret is a rapid-firing solid light blaster that he also wields in robot and jet modes. This weapon fires rapid bursts of highly-charged photons that shred most materials in short order.

In jet mode, Doubledealer is capable of only high subsonic speeds but is extremely nimble. This mode employs the solid light blaster and guided missiles of his tank mode, but cannot utilize the heavy cannon.

Doubledealer possesses substantial strength and quickness in robot mode and is a deadly melee fighter, employing a monomolecular-edged “trench knife” with a spiked knuckle-guard. He is able to utilize the cannon and solid light blaster of his other two modes and is very heavily armored in all three configurations. Besides his physical abilities, Doubledealer is skilled in demolitions, explosives, espionage techniques, and to some degree repair and scientific disciplines. Like any good sociopath, Doubledealer can be quite charismatic and convincing and is not above talking his way out of a situation if he can’t shoot his way out.

Weaknesses: Doubledealer’s got good reason to be confident of his martial and espionage abilities, but his penchant for working alone and his arrogance can sometimes get him in over his cranial unit. As might be expected of a duplicitous, unscrupulous Transformer who enriches himself by waging war for the highest bidder (regardless of which side they’re on) and changing sides as he deems necessary, Doubledealer has few friends and even fewer allies. There are plenty of Transformers in both factions who would gladly assist in Doubledealer’s demise – probably for free!
