Since we actually have gotten a few 3rd Party Gobots, my first thought is whether this brings their manufacturers any closer to being sued. These new toys look way better than not-Turbo and not-Cykill, so it wouldn't be any huge loss; it's just that the legal issues surrounding Gobots today are frankly more interesting than your average Challenge of the Gobots episode.

One thing that's perplexed me about some 3rd Party stuff is that (besides the late, great Impossible Toys) they'll often stray from media accuracy, which is odd because I always thought the whole point was to make stuff that TF media made us want, but HasTak weren't meeting demand with accurate representations of. Like with Uranos's not-Fireflight having a face like the original toy, when a show-accurate face would've been closer to what fans wanted and further from both Hasbro's physical product and potential legal action.

The point I'm getting to is, if this line did make the core COTGB characters as accurate as possible to Hanna-Barbera's show models (mostly getting their faces right), could that invite a lawsuit from Time Warner? I do seem to recall Shout! years ago having a preorder up for a Gobots DVD set that abruptly disappeared several months before Warner Archive listed theirs, so do WB have a unique stake in this too? Just how many ways does the Gobot tug-of-war pull?!? No wonder Gobotron was ripped in half...

I'm still curious as to what size these are going to be. The popular belief on other boards is around Deluxe Transformer size, and while not a bad size I'd prefer them to be Voyager size.

Of course Deluxes would be cheaper, so I guess it's just gonna be a waiting game for now.

To Revenge of Cronos models you mean, which are a bit different and closer to the actual toys. ;)

At any rate, any company that has any asset to a particular franchise (think cartoon models, toys designs) can sue should they perceive an infringement. Just ask Harmony Gold  Fear not though, as Hanna-Barbera has no leg to stand on in Japan, especially since the root of the Gobot franchise is still Bandai.

These look too small for my taste. Thinking their either basic or deluxe class, Doubt their Voyager or bigger.

Don't think their Masterpiece toys as the fist have no articulated fingers. other parts on the robot modes don't look MP articulated. At best I'd consider these CHUG toys.

There is no way, I'm buying any of these at the high import Japanese prices. If Bandai in the USA sells them for low USA retail stores prices, Then i'll buy them.

Dude. I totally was asking about him too. It's Jeeg. Who, yes, was a Takara toy at one time. Don't know if Jeeg came first or Baron. That Bandai version looks like he's rockin the magnet gimmick too. Very confused about this. :-?

That thing looks pretty sweet. I wonder if it's got a horse. It's centaur mode would rock.

Okay, I have been watching the Go-Bots cartoon with my son. He's, perhaps on the edge at eight, but is liking the cartoon. I definitely have some nostalgia for this line. I might be very interested, provided the price isn't insane...

Well I guess I'm going to give up Transformers collecting for GoBots!

Bandai is always light-years ahead of HasTak when it comes to designing robots.

How well were they all featured in the Machine Robo media?

We have to remember that these aren't being made based on the GoBots franchise, but on the Machine Robo franchise.

I'll take my UT Salmoore any day over that Bandai Cy-Kill... Leader-1 looks pretty good, though.

I bought Machine Robo DVDs the other year, but never got around to watching them. I might just have to do that now....

Indeed he does, you should try and YouTube "Double Jeeg" and see two generations of kotesu Jeeg in action (okay the newer one is kotesushin jeeg but they're still connected) Fun fact Jeeg was another creation of Go Nagai famous for creating Mazinger Z, Grendizer, Getter Robo, Gaiking and more ;)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I heard that Machine Robo "Cy-Kill" was actually a hero in that series. So, the toy's face may not be an "evil" face. Image

ALL Machine Robo were heroes in Japan... Except for the alieny monstery ones (Vamp, Pincher, Scorp, Creepy, Bladez & Monsterous) who were portrayed as alien invaders in all series (Devil Invaders, then as expendable grunts for the Gyandlar and Gurendos).

Chogokin literally means "Super Alloy", but that name was applied prematurely. We don't know if they'll have die cast metal at all.

Thanks ZWolf. I did a little research myself last night. Takara made Jeeg as a licensed Microman toy in like '72. They later made the magnetic toy. When Mego licensed Microman from Takara to make Micronauts, they took the magnetic Jeeg toy, made new heads, to avoid legal issues, and called him Baron Karza, Emperor, and Force Commander.
That being said, that Bandai Jeeg looks AWESOME!

Houston, we have more info (and pics)!

According to the CYBERGEEKS Alliance Facebook, these Machine Robo figures are indeed coming from Action Toys and not Bandai (making them not be Soul of Chogokin figures), they each about the height of Classics Bumblebee and Masterpiece Bumble, just under 5 inches (so smaller than a typical Transformers Deluxe), they will be about 50 bucks each, and more info to be found through the link.

How prominent was Pathfinder's Machine Robo counterpart in the Revenge of Chronos series?

We have to remember that these are likely being made in accordance to the Machine Robo series, rather than GoBots, so with only 9 designs, they'll likely be just the most prominent ones from Machine Robo: Revenge of Chronos.
