How is this conceptually different from recording the show on a VCR and trading videotapes? I mean if he said, "Yeah, I recorded it with my VCR, and I'll trade a VHS copy if you cover postage," nobody would blink.

Since the episode is not able to be purchased legally at this time, there are no laws against uploading it for folks.

Do not post a link or a torrent. It is illegal to download and we don't want any lawyers contacting us. The lack of ability to purchase something does not make it legal to distribute, it is not your property.

Any posting of torrents will result in a warning.

I didn't like these new animated Tf designs from the get-go.

Thank you seibertron for posting this thread, otherwise, i would have missed the show today.

I remember how in the old philosopher's forum, there was this big old debate about how transformers could "reproduce" and i thought of it when optimus prime asked the girl how "organics" reproduced. his face when he found out

But yeah, every single time Mr. Cullen and Mr. Welker do not voice their characters, it makes me sad.

So i decided i wasn't going to get any of these Tf's.

and then.. i saw the series.

my final thought is: Inferior tf designs. Superior tf story/writing. I should have seen it coming. Hasbro is trying to make me change my mind about this whole thing and i think it's working #-o curse you hasbro!! (in a good way)

Actually that is illegal.

It IS legal for you to use a VCR (or even a dvd/hard drive player) to record off the tv, provided it is for you OWN use only.

It is illegal for you to record and give that recording to someone else.

Prime: (pointing at plummeting train car) I'll go after Starscream! You help them!
Ratchet: (Grumbling) What? What? What're WE gonna do? Catch it on it's first bounce?!?

Loved it.

Actually, if they could track trading VHS tapes they would do that too. It's legally okay to record and personally rewatch a show but it is only for personal use, not for giving to your friends. TV shows get their money from 2 things Advertising during the show and ratings numbers to charge more money for the advertising. With a plan of 3 seasons this will also help them when it comes to syndication and pricing for that as well. I'm just letting you know they do successfully prosecute for this because the subpoenas for such pass my desk all the time.

Well I got use to the robots animated looks mostly but when the humans show up is another story thats going to take a lot of time to get use to. Although the girl has already proven to be far superior to the anime humans in 3 episodes, the cop guy also seem interesting.

Now Starscream really does his name justice. Betrayal came so fast in this series and at the moment seems to be successful. Seems to be a mix of G1 personality and power comparison closer to Cybertron's one considering 5 on 1.
Autobots seem all decent and the new approach on Prime's personality should be interesting. Looking forward to seeing Grimlock and the dinobots appearance, that should even those episodes power scale vs the Decepticons if they stay similar to their G1 counterparts.

I don't have cable either, but my dad has a DVR and he was kind enough to burn it to DVD for me! Problem being with it: I had the DVD long enough to see it and attempt to rip it to my computer...it didn't work (no sneaking peeks to my online buddies who didn't/couldn't see it! :( )...but the nosey TF-loving neighbors saw I had it through my derned window, and begged to borrow my copy!! So a second-view will be some days away!

I tried to sneak you a peek, Jeysie, dear....but, alas, to no avail! Maybe some person will git-r-dun and you'll find it on YouTube in the next few days! Here's hopin for ya!

Is it illegal to GIVE it to someone else? I thought it was just illegal to SELL it to someone else....I ain't hip on all the FBI-legal/illegal junk

Upon review of Transformers: Animated, I have concluded the following:

TF:A is not BM/RiD/Armada/Energon/Cybertron-bad, but it isn't G1/BW/2007 Movie-good either. It's just different...

To sum it up, Transformers: Animated : Transformers :: "The Batman" : Batman: The Animated Series

I hope you guys can get my drift...

OK, I guess. Must be a new thing, since I've been trading videotapes almost ever since I first went online 10 years ago, and nobody ever told me it was illegal. In fact, I still have a videotape copy I once traded for... from a friend who's a lawyer. *shrug*

But yeah, it'll likely be up on YouTube anyway. I would happily watch it on Cartoon Network (they do have a "watch online" option, at least, so I'm assuming you could watch it?), if they didn't decide that viewing video should for some reason require installing the security nightmare that is ActiveX. Hooray for idiot webmasters.

It is illegal to distribute in any way shape or form. None of the subpoenas I have gotten have the people been charging for it, it's all been "given" away through various online means. For the selling of copies they just usually go straight to knocking down doors.

I know, I know I've heard the "Everyone does it" yadda yadda speech. Lets just try not to make statements in a public forum about illegal activities. I'm sure Ryan would appreciate it. Besides, we are derailing a thread about this spiffy new show!

I definitely can't wait to see more Decepticons, and I'm certainly not arguing about their choice for the first focal point of such. I loved the sarcastic and conniving bugger.

Alright, so let's then discuss LEGAL ways of veiwing the premiere for those of us who have no access to cable TV...

Anyone know if CN.com has/will have it up on their website? I don't know if my navigational skills are just crap or what...I can't find any TF videos period (I thought they had a preview clip up last week I got to somehow)

Now if only I could get flash player to work right.

*grumblemumble*

So I couldn't even have a friend videotape something for me and give me the videotape, even though that conceptually isn't any different from me videotaping it myself and keeping the tape? Eh, well, this is why I'm not a lawyer. ;P

Anyway, this is the link to their full eps section, I think, since I can't actually view the plugin. I'd like to know if anyone has a way to watch CN's videos without installing ActiveX. :P (Like a direct link to the flash file or something.)

I got to their video section all right, but there's not a shred of TF:A on here. Even their preview clips are gone D: It's a conspiracy, I tell you.

CN's website also doesn't seem to allow for sourcing the video file, so I can't snag the flash link for you...

Atleast, I don't know how to other than the old right-click. I'm not very resourceful.

Wow, I completely miss it, I had to work, but I knew I should have called in sick. Too bad CN isn't Mac friendly, that blows. I had a very sad week since my bunny passed away on Christmas Eve, so this cartoon would have cheered me up. I hope they give it online sometime besides CN, or repeat it on CN.

-hate commericals.

Mixed bag for me at first, but it got pretty good as the show went on! Especially the big action sequence with old Starscream terrorizing the town.

This means Starscream is BAAAAACK!!! And BADDER than ever before, too!!!XD (His new threads is lookin' pretty good, too!) So with Megatron out of the way, he's finally the KING here!XD

The startling new designs is starting to grow on me, especially when it's G1 in a new setting and everything. I like Ratchet's old-man warts and double chin, too while Prowl looks pretty sleek in what looks like clever riding pants and Bumblebee is his naughty but cute self (he did the peeing part in the movie and now it's fart joke, too!XD) Sari is a little sweetie who represents the special bond between humanity and Transformers like Spike did in the past.^_^

While I'm not exactly bouncing around the whole room and screaming my head off over this new cartoon, I'm still looking forward to what will happen next in it (mmm...more adventures with that old Starscream, too!)

A few drawbacks, though is that the animation isn't too polished and the humans look a little strange as cartoon figures with some anime influence, which really annoy me.

Just so everyone knows. This is NOT a continuation of G1 but it does pay homage to the show in one way or another.

And that's good.

Loved Prime's expression when Sari told him where human babies come from.

This show got me freaking excited.
I almost cried when Optimus almost died.
And I thought the jokes were hilarious.
and Starscream's shooting at people in a train totally shocked me. now thats evil!
and I jumped up and down everytime I spot a G1 reference.

I agree. I think G1 and Animated have the same history until Megatron kills Sentinel Prime in G1. Obviously Sentinel Prime is alive in Animated, so I'm thinking he, like Optimus in the Movie, shot the Allspark into space, and then faced off against Megatron. Maybe he got a boost of Allspark energy before he shot it into space, but however he did it, he managed to beat Megatron. Defeated, but hoping to find the Allspark, Megatron led his Decepticons into space to search for the Allspark, leaving Sentinel Prime ruler of a Decepticon-free Cybertron.

So with Sentinel Prime not dead, there was no need for Optimus to become Prime. I get the feeling that if Optimus wasn't always called "Optimus Prime" in all the cartoons and comics, that he wouldn't be Optimus Prime in Animated, he would just be "Optimus." Everyone knows Optimus as Optimus Prime, so they kept the full name more for name recognition reasons than true, in-story rank reasons.

So there we go. We have an Optimus that has the potential to be a Prime, to be the great leader we know and love from G1, but without Sentinel Prime's death, and with no war to fight and gain experience from, he's just the small-time leader we see in Animated.

Anyway, that's my take on things. It will be interesting to see if I'm right or not.

Overall, I love this show! It really is the best written since Beast Wars. :APPLAUSE:

I dont thing your theroy is possible since Sentinel Prime is not the supreme commander of the Autobots.Ultra Magnus is.
