I've been showing Beast Wars to a young friend of mine, hoping to turn him on to the series that redefined my childhood. While watching The Trigger two-parter tonight, I couldn't help but notice something about the design of the island and its obelisk. This is something I never would have noticed as a kid, but in my adult years I've since become a fan of Doctor Who, and I can't help notice the superficial resemblances between the island and Gallifrey's Death Zone, from The Five Doctors--several trap-laden winding roads that converge to an obelisk in the center. You can almost hear the blast from bagpipes every time the obelisk comes on to screen. I can't help wondering if that was intentional, and who I could reach out to to confirm or deny it.

The five doctors special is forever etched in to my mind so I can easily recall what the death zone looks like (and the raston warrior robot that decimates the cybermen!). I'm not wholly convinced the design was intentional though but I'm not going to rule it out either
