Great stuff. I autta draw more concepts now! :-P I might do a new Cliffjumper or something. I am also thinking of redrawing Rosanna, since that one I did a while ago (unposted) didn't look right to me.

Also, @Foximus: The shading you do on faces is really great btw. It really has inspired me to try something similar for some future characters.

I actually have a really hard time doing female faces. Male faces are no problem since they have more edged construction, but females' faces always mess me up. XD

Instead of hard edges, try using smooth ones

Usually that don't work since my hand is programmed to a more jagged style. It does work for females, just it isn't as easy as a male to draw.

Speaking of drawing, I just finished this one in GIMP.

The first sketch of Sidetrack. Heart really isnt in this one, but I do think I need to revise Jailbreak because of it. Sidetrack felt alot wider in an earlier unposted sketch, so I had to slim him down as he shouldnt have the physical stature of a warrior. I instead modeled him to be a bit more lean like his Alt Mode would suggest.

I'll probably do a few revisions until I am happy with something that FEELS like it should belong in the IDW range of transformers.

For those of you struggling with female and male representation in your cybertronians, I thought I may give you all my overall thoughts on the topic with an example.

Image

First of off, notice proportionally the concepts of male and female remain the same. Keep in mind, this is the Same Character simply with a few key differences.

1) Base level, Transformers in the male category tend to be designed with exaggerated jawlines. Not only that, but the jaw is alot sharper and more pronounced, where as a female's jaw line is designed with it to make the face look more rounded with a less pronounced jaw structure.

2) There is also a change in what features are generally exaggerated. Defined nose and chin and cheeks for the male, but for a female it's larger rounder eyes and lips while keeping the nose detail to a minimum, often times more button like.

3) All details are designed to highlight SOMETHING. What it brings to focus. In this case, a sharper jaw line and raised cheek bones with sharper angles to give it a little more metallic feel, but it helps in that it makes those features more pronounced. With the female side on the other hand it's eyes and mouth. Male characters tend to have a lot thicker eyebrows, but in this case it is typically done with a sharper design above the eyes where as many female characters tend to have ways of exaggerating the shape of the eye, either by adding complimentary curves to the face or other ways to focus on the eyes.

4)Just some finishing touches that show what I am referring to. Hope this helps.

I know all that actually. I studied art. My problem though is that a lot of times my hand doesn't do what I want it to do. It automatically goes into large jaw mode. That Rosanna I posted above was very hard to get the jaw right on. I think I have developed a special technique though while doing that one: Instead of going squarish, I made the chin pointier.

I have a comic. Enjoy. It doesn't have speech bubbles so make of it what you will.

Looks like that took a lot of patience. ;)^

Edit: Another really hard thing for me to do are side face profiles. Male and female.
