Yikes. And I thought Commander Menasor is pretty rough, and that guy is twice my level currently. I have to wonder what Prime difficulty will be like.

Okay I have some questions, particularly for those who have played/seen the game on different systems.

I"ve been thinking about upgrading to a current gen console (currently still using an Xbox 360 and PS3) to help me waste some time while I'm recovering from chemotherapy the next couple of months, and this game seems like a pretty good occasion to finally do that.

Are there people who have played both the PS4 and Xbox One versions? If so, are there any significant differences? Is one an obvious (and inferior) port of the other? Are there any significant differences between the current gen and last gen versions?

Any help would be appreciated. ^^

I was wondering if there was any difference between PS3 and PS4 as there is a hefty price difference between the two.

What are the best weapons everyone has found so far, I'm only now completing chapter 2 on commander, but recently found a nice rank S hypercryo sword I upgraded to lvl 25, its very fast and does about 1800 dmg.

I've found that challenge mission 50 is excellent for farming items.

Also, what is this about magnus and prime modes? Extra content unlocked after commander?

The game arrived yesterday and finally had a chance to play it earlier today. Can't believe I can play as Sunbow Prime  And the other characters are a wonderful bonus. Playing Sideswipe was like the spotlight episode he never got. :) (Now I need a couple of those twin swords for my MP-12.)

Voice-actors did a great job, and I love that you can transform back and forth whenever you like. Kudos to whomever it was that decided to use the timeless character models from the cartoon and reunited the original actors.

Minus Corey Burton, who didn't voice Shockwave.

And all the actors who didn't match the cartoon voices of the more minor characters.

And also they didn't get Frank Welker back to voice Skywarp, Mixmaster, Rumble or Frenzy.

And whoever did Thundercracker was way off, sounding nothing like John Stephenson.

I was refering to Cullen, Gilvezan, Bell, Berger & Welker, naturally.

I pre-ordered it from Amazon, no code in the game case, shipping box, or emailed to me, and no reply from their customer service yet on why the no code.

***UPDATE*** Amazon customer support sent me the code, and it worked.

Wheeljacks' new voice actor did an excellent job with the role, as did whoever did Starscream. Thundercracker was the only one that through me for a loop. Considering that he had like 2 lines of dialogue, it's only a minor gripe.

I'm a horrible weapon hoarder, so that's good to know.

Magnus and Prime are harder difficulties. Magnus is unlocked by beating story mode on Commander. Prime for beating it on Magnus. There's an achievement for the insane to SS rank every mission on Prime.

This game is completely ******* broken in Magnus difficulty. There's literally no way. I quit.

Presumably, there is a way, and that way is to not suck. I'm willing to bet people have already beat it on Prime Mode.

I have over 16 hours put into the game on Commander difficulty and I haven't died once. I'm pretty sure I don't "suck." Fighting all 6 Constructicons, plus Devastator and Menasor as the same time when each one of them can kill you in 2 hits is stupid. Especially when the notification that an enemy is about to strike you happens off screen and one of the Constructicons teleports to you and immediately unleashes a combo there's no way you could see coming.

Sly. He's trolling you. Don't take that bait. Magnus mode is nuts. You're not alone on that.

Cancer sucks. I hope you get better. That said, I haven't heard anything about how previous gen versions stack up. Activison priced the game at a lower MSRP of $50 for current gen, so most people seem to guess it's similar to last gen. I also used the game as an excuse to upgrade. I think you'll be happy either way.

There's a couple of things people should know:

Difficulty levels,

After Magnus difficulty, you unlock PRIME difficulty.

Unlocking higher difficulties increases your stat caps, makes more powerful weapons available in the shop, gives you better weapon drops and gives you unlocks for more expensive tech development.

OVERDRIVE
The game basically has a style guage. There's 4 stages, your current stage is shown via the autobot symbol in the top right of the HUD.

1- greyed out - standard
2- flashing yellow - starting to build, gain attack strength
3- flashing red & yellow - built up, gain attack and defense strength
4- flashing bright red - maxed, maxed attack, defense and lowers attack charge time

will be great to abuse with a hammer, build your overdrive gauge with any melee or ranged weapon, then switch to your hammer to use it without the super slow attack and bolstered attack for massive damage.

Any tech that refers to overdrive is used to boost the speed that this gauge fills.

BUMBLEBEE'S SLIDE
Apparently it's ridiculously overpowered. You may notice that at any time during your combo, a boss or enemy commander can parry or shove to break your combo and go on the offensive (except blitzwing, who simply does not sell your attacks whatsoever.), sliding through their legs with bumbles and attacking from behind will stop them from being able to parry you, and maintain your combo. Make best use of this after a vehicle attack, instead of a second vehicle attack to make sure the enemy doesn't break the combo and go back on the offensive.
under certain circumstances this is infinitely repeatable

DEVASTATOR DRILLS
Best melee weapon in the game hands down, as the charge attacks (hold /\ or Y) can be used to launch the drills similar to how Bonecrusher and Devvy do as boss attacks, and it's ridiculously powerful.

STATS

The stats are based on the tech specs from the toy packing, but don't have the same effect.

STR(Strength)- Health bar
INT(Intelligence) - Ranged attack power
SPD(Speed) - attack power in vehicle mode, acceleration speed, rush attach, vehicle attack and reversal power (Very important stat)
END(Endurance) - defense
RNK(Rank) - Max number of allowed tech slots (characters max at different amounts, Prime gets five, Grimlock gets 2 at max rank)
CRG(Courage) - defense and ultimate attack power
FRB(Fireblast) - Melee attack power (what were they smoking here?)
SKL(Skill) - ranged attack power

So as you can see, your gut feeling would be to invest in fireblast for wheeljack for example, but you'd be better putting it into INT and SKL.

OMG, I'm reading through this and just facepalming at myself. I haven't even finished Scout Mode yet. I can see it, it's gonna be like the Armada game was for me, where it takes 5 1/2 years to beat it in all modes. I'm not a gamer.

I haven't played this yet but it looks like one of those games where you have to remember combos and have lightning reactions. I played Bayonetta and couldn't get anywhere without being on its easiest mode.

ok casually skimmed though comments here. for magnus mode, of course there way to get through it, one way is to hack. lol. unless that offends someone's sense of honesty like its some kinda crime. hahaha.

personally i beated it on commander mode and not really expect do any replay in near future. guess not in mood or wanna spend time on that endeavor. guess once is enough for me but i guess some folk are hardcore gamer or whatever.

cuz now i'm already on civilication beyond earth:rising tide so not in mood to go back to this...

Optimus Prime vs Motormaster - so much fun!

Image

Funny that the Stunticons' transformation into Menasor was animated like that recurring blooper from the cartoon where the cars just latch onto MM's limbs.

Spent several hours on this game today. The character models with the original voices, and the game-play (which I still discover new things about) is all too fun!

I'm not finished yet, but if they ever make a sequel I hope they select more characters with their original voice-actors...

Tracks (McConnohie), Ironhide (Cullen), Prowl (Bell), Mirage (Welker), Brawn (Burton), Smokescreen/UM (Angel), etc. etc. etc.

Quick progress update.

I've done as many of the challenge mode maps as I possibly can, I think I have about 6 left, but they all require me to beat the game on higher difficulties to unlock. The stat up capsules seem to drop a lot more often when you're playing the challenge maps.

I've maxed my stats for wheeljack and sideswipe, and I've just started my commander mode playthrough, I'll be doing that as goldbug, rockin' some Rank C lvl 10 devastator drills.

Starting to wrap my head around some of the finer points of the weapon synthesis system now, just need bigger and better loot to make a real dent in it.

How is everybody else getting on?

Story Mode, Warrior level, fighting Megatron. This feels a lot like Heavy Metal War when he borrowed the powers of the other Decepticons.

Update: developed my strategy and beat him.

Beating the game has unlocked an awesome model gallery of all the characters, with voice samples, and 360° view in all forms. :D
