Probably because Shocky doesn't have his extra parts that make him a Leader.

Anyway, Is it wrong, I like Comic Gridlock's colors so much I want to get him? That blue just works. And the flat yellow looks great.

Sandstorm looks pretty good.

Shockwave is o.k. But still not feeling this mold. It's like almost there, but not quite.

I WAS kind of eager to see Sandstorm. But looking at the photos, my enthusiasm has diminished. I still kind of like the Thrilling 30s revisioning better...

Also, while the G2 SS86 Tiger stripe deco may be cool for some, it was $55 just a few months ago (without Wheelie), THIS comic book release comes with 2 extras Swords, a crown and premium packaging for only $5 more doesn't seem so bad.

I was never a fan of comic book decos, so I'm passing on these, but I'm happy for those that want them.

Sandstorm is an easy pass.

As a G1 comic fan, I'm definitely getting Grimlock and Shockwave, but I don't care for the extra swords. I do have all the SS86 Dinobots, so I guess I'll give the swords to them if that's who they're for.

My only complaint is that in the comics Shockwave and Grimlock were the same size. I like the SS86 mold, but they should have used a voyager sized Grimlock for this. Unfortunately the PoTP figure was a pile of crap, so I'm glad they didn't use that one. I am happy about this Shockwave, now I might skip that 3-pack with Megatron and Soundwave.

I wonder if we'll eventually get the other Dinobots in comic colors (Red Swoop!) as well, since technically Shockwave did fight all 5 of them.

These all look SO good.

I'm down for more comic versions.
Ratchet with a red head would be near the top of my wishlist.

But which mold would we be getting? Most likely the SS86 version? What about ER Megatron with a black helmet?

Sandstorm's photography is phenomenal. Those are great shots!

I especially like this one. (Is the cable a wire, or was a support just very well-edited out?) I'm so glad modern Transformers promotional photography is taken so much more seriously. The reveal photos for every wave since Legacy started have done so much to put life into the figures with these little dioramas and landscapes. A very welcome and appreciated custom after years of basic poses and obvious mistransformations.

Shockwave and Grimlock both look really cool, too. I am satisfied with the original SS86 Grimmy, but my G1 Decepticon shelf does happen to be missing a Shockwave...

Yes to all three! That's exactly the Sandstorm I've always wanted. I hated the Generations version so much that I never bought it, it's the only figure at the time that I never bought. Really makes me excited to get a new Octane someday. Grimlock looks really good in comic colors and I'm glad they included the crown and swords. I'm really surprised by Shockwave, never thought we'd get a decapitated Prime head like that. I wish it came with a shocked Buster figure to go with it. Pretty sure that head is an actual figure head, makes me wonder if one of the upcoming figures is a Prime with the same head or a different variant that can be swapped out.

william-james88 wrote:Do we really need space bridge teases if we already know what's coming?

We did just have those rumored cancellations, it would have been nice to have some sort of confirmation o them happening or not. Obviously they wouldn't tell us outright if something was cancelled, but if they said Core Dinobot was coming in the future that would be a different story.

Squawk'n'talk wrote:Ratchet with a red head would be near the top of my wishlist.

Definitely at the top of my list, I've wanted one since forever. Closest we've come is Botcon, but that was no different than custom painting the head of any other Ratchet figure we've gotten.

That said; Hasbro, I DARE YOU!

Dude, I brought it up twice. The first time was because it was going around that it was Prime in the Gears review, and I thought it was possible since at the angle it was shown there was some extra bits that I hadn't seen on the YoloPark model. The second time was now because I thought it would be funny if this random release would use the head as an Easter Egg of sorts. Chill.

Shockwave is missing the accessories that turn him into a leader class, so he is released here as a voyager class figure while Grimlock is released as a leader class figure

We're getting another leader Shockwave?

I said earlier that I wanted a voyager Grimlock due to them being the same size, but now I'm changing my mind, I'd rather have a bigger Shockwave. Prime and Megatron have been made voyagers, so Shockwave should be either a very tall voyager or a short leader. He's a bit bigger than both of them.

What a first impression! I wonder if they'd have him do all the figures from this wave as well. I would love to see more figures given this treatment, particularly the remaining at-large Cybertron Starscream.

Sandstorms head is just plain wrong. Dunno why they made the over hang piece part of the head. Maybe it can be removed and have a g1 toy like part put in using the things either side. Toon wise would have to scalp him then glue it above his head which might not go so well. Feet are pretty bad too and might look better with out using the ankle tilts or if they can fold up on themselves even if it would reduce figures ability to stand. Looks pretty good otherwise.

There is a coolness for both Shockwave and Grimlock but let the masses enjoy them! Too bad with this latest Grimlock they couldn't give him his front teeth. I'm sure DNA Design will have fun putting in some more partials. :-P

But Shockwave will be a easy pass since I'm so waiting for the Nemesis Bridge set!

I feel the same for Sandstorm most especially the Takara version, it's awesome! It is IMHO a fine representation of a Modern Sandstorm in all it's essence. I dunno with most up to date TF's why do so many feel that a modern version of that figure must have details so close to the original? Just like Takra LG Blurr, I feel is a perfect representation of a modern Blurr and yet there is the Studio figure which I had no need for. Might I change my mind if this new version proves greater than the previous one (hoping for little to no flaws or QC issues) oh hell yes, but we'll see when that first review hits! :VEHI:

...it's insane how basically perfect that Sandstorm is for me.

Neither of those comic guys are for me though, I don't want a G1 Grim and I already have Siege Shockwave (and they neutered his light piping, lame).

Worth noting, that post has since been edited to only say 1 more release, not 2.

My guess for the other slot would be either Ratchet by himself or a Ratchet vs Megatron pack, since I feel like Ratchet is the most requested Marvel deco I seen anyone talking about (although I imagine a number of people would complain about another Siege Megatron repaint) and I still think the Legacy Leader Soundwave is gonna be Marvel deco.

Yeah, there's too damn many characters whose name ends with "wave" coming out this year... I mean, we already have another Soundwave coming out in that mold this year that 3-pack so it would be strange to basically do it again as a stand alone leader figure that will also certainly be sold in Japan. Makes a lot more sense for it to be something entirely different and comic colors makes the most sense.

That Sandstorm though. I have always liked him better than Springer and Broadside for some reason.

I believe this thinking is flawed because if a mold came out in 2 different price point periods, the later period will use the current pricing. See any of the siege Sideswipe molds, which started out at $19.99 but now run $24.99 for the same thing.

Grimlock is a $54.99 leader with extra swords worth $5 (to hasbro, whether or not it is to you is personal), so that is how they got that price.

Shockwave is the $34.99 base figure without the parts but including the Prime head and display, worth $5 (again subjective to you) for the $39.99 price.

To me at least, both of those seem worth it, even if I am only interested in Grimlock.

Also, Sandstorm is still absolutely gorgeous
