Beachcomber definitely needs an update. I'm curious about the new Brawn and how he'll be.

Deluxe Warpath is the BEST! (well technically second best, I put ROTF Bludgeon above him in terms if best Tank TF).

And HOLY ****! As I was doing some research to fact check what I wrote about the design team, I found that those awesome thrilling 30 designs hat I like so much are all due to Japan co designing them with hasbro instead of having hasbro do it all and the one that designed Jetfire is Takashi Kunihiro, the guy who designed G1 Liokaiser, Star Sabre, Car Robots Megatron and G1 Sixshot. MAN!

Ah ok. That makes sense.

Oh yeah,. I forgot about that Huffer repainted from Legends Prime. But if you are talking about ones that don't have straight up updates in the current design team, Warpath and Huffer can't count as those are redesigns (repaints of other characters technically, but they don't fall in with what you are meaning if I understand it right). Also what about Cliffjumper?

Yeah, the official image being used is using an alternate transformation for his arms, but they are the same.

It doesn't. :(

In more detail: I've found that Sharpie work tends to stay pretty much perfect for about a week or so, after that the rate it tarnishes and to what degree will really depend on what type of plastic it is and what it's going through, so to speak. The black on the edges on Windblade's wings wore off pretty easily since that's the natural point to hold when moving those parts, same with her hands - but the shoulders and head fan stayed pretty much perfect since they undergo very little direct contact from skin or other plastic in regular play/display.

How Sharpie would fare without being touched at all, I'm not sure! I'm not the type to leave my toys posed and not touch them. But hey, it looks great for a while at least! And when it (inevitably, sadly) wears off, it can just be reapplied equally easily as it was the first time - for reference, Blurr there took maybe 45 minutes of semi-focused work, as opposed to who-knows-how-long to actually paint all that properly - and I honestly kind of enjoy the "painting" process so it's actually kinda fun for me to reapply it every once in a while.

TL;DR Sharpie doesn't hold up great over time but it's still great value-for-effort, and if you're careful not to handle "painted" sections directly it'll last a lot longer and look a lot nicer.

...And now I realise where my life is at because I just spent two large paragraphs explaining the specifics of applying permanent marker to plastic toys.

I think if you did a clear coat of Future floor polish over the sharpied areas, it might hold up better. I've redone CW Cyclonus's ears a bunch. I don't think I've done the clear coat. Of course, it still doesn't beat paint, but I like using the sharpie.

They still count as updates, even though they're not ideal in the least.

Cliffjumper got a figure in a redeco of Thrilling 30 Bumblebee. Which does mean every 1984 Minibot has had a Legends-class figure, even if not all of them are particularly ideal.

Thrilling 30 Cosmos is from the older design team.

The new design team starts at Gen Whirl and Roadbuster so the second half of thrilling 30, with all the retools and redecos.

He's at least getting a re-issue.

Still, I probably should have made it a bit clearer; straight-up updates of the old toys rather than re-imaginings in the new Legends class.

Thats not clearer, straight up update can mean many things to many people. Just stick to saying you want all the minibots in the same size legends size class, it gets your point across quite well :)

The fact that Cosmos is getting a re-release does seem puzzling. I mean I know TT just released Adams last year, maybe they just wanted to make a few extra bucks from having to reuse the mold to make Scrounge? I don't know...

Also...the fact that it likely (though I guess we don't know for sure) will not come with Sky High, will not be updated in anyway to include the Titan-Master theme so a TM can fit inside (at least there's no way I can see this happening) seems like it wont be much of a draw. They could have just repacked one of the earlier wave 1 TM's if they had a spot to fill and couldn't develop enough new toys, which is a shame. We get new molds in the first 3 waves (totaling 9), and the rest are riddled with repacks. I mean we discussed it before - Rumble & Eject would have been awesome Legends. I know we haven't seen wave 6 yet...But only 3 new Legend Class in the next 2 waves (4 and 5) is a little depressing.

Still on a side note, I mentioned this a while back, but I picked up a Thrilling 30 Cosmos loose on eBay for under 10 dollars. I paired him up with UW Computron as you would Scrounge with the CW version, except inverted. You just peg Sky High's landing gear into the 5mm weapon hole on the top of UW Strafe. It works quite well.

Yeah, Cosmos' re-issuing in this line is extremely puzzling since unlike CW, they went out of their way to make sure every single figure in the line was in some way able to interact with the line's overall gimmick. You'd think they'd at least half-ass it and put a few TM foot pegs on his flying saucer mode, but... nope.

And even beyond that, like o.supreme said; there's so many redecoes and/or new head redecoes they could do. Eject, Frumble, Cliffjumper, Outback, Hubcap, Bumper, a ton of Throttlebots... but instead we get Cosmos?

I'm not complaining since apparently it's an awesome figure and IDW's ex-RiD/Optimus Prime made me fall in love with the character, but I must say I fail to see what prompted the decision behind his re-release.

I have also been puzzled by Re-Cosmos.

I feel like Outback is a sure bet somewhere done the line. Maybe in Power of the Primes.

There are a ton of new fans who werent around when he got released the first time, he will be a big draw for them, regardless if he comes with a weapon or not. In G1 they would keep rereleasing toys since there were new fans every year.
If Hasbro were to rerelease that CW Prime or any of the First Edition prime figures, they would be draws too. Its just different product on the shelf and I think its a better wave mate than just repacking TR Bumblebee again.

Can Legends Brawn interact with Titan masters? And the bird casettes cant either.

Also, fyi, Hasbro stated there are no plans for Ejeect or the other decepticon casette.

Also the clones cannot interact with the rest of the line either, even though everyone else in their boxset can.

Heeeell yes. Love it!

Also, just realised that with Seaspray, the only 1985 minibot yet to get an update (counting CW Warpath) is Beachcomber. Prepare to get stoned af in power of the primes

Are people not liking Seaspray? I think he looks great and straight out of the cartoon.

Huh? Far as I can tell people love him. Maybe I just wasn't clear in what I was saying; I was saying that now Seaspray has an update; the only 1985 Minibot left to get an update in Generations is Beachcomber - given Thrilling 30 Cosmos, CW Warpath and CW Powerglide.

Definitely want a new Beachcomber! I bought my friend the G1 original the other day, and still have mine. :)

Can't Brawn seat a TM in his vehicle mode? And the bird cassettes have pegs on their "forklift mode" that allows TMs to ride on them.

Every figure so far has had a way of interacting with Titan Masters, even if Buzzsaw/Laserbeak's is extremely weak.

I will have to check those forklifts out then.

I see nothing wrong with them rereleasing an older generations toy. People collecting now will want all the minibots, and this is an easy way to get him if you dont have him yet. I wished they rereleased Swerve.

I was one of those fans. The difference is scarcity/availability. I just got thrilling 30 Cosmos on eBay around two months ago for less than $10. You'll be paying the same or more than that for the new one (sans micro figure).

Now if Cosmos...like CW Voyager Prime were re-released yes I could see this as that figure is 2-3X original value on the secondary market, but Cosmos makes no sense to me.

Just because a figure is no longer on store shelves, doesn't mean its impossible to get, I've never understood that mentality. I mean as much as I complain about Metroplex, I've never said "He's Impossible to get" -Only that the ones being sold are not at a price I'm willing to pay. -A number of factors may change that in the future, maybe not.

Even Leader Jetfire. As much as we all swooned over that figure a few pages back, It's really not that hard to obtain (thankfully). --Would I expect Hasbro to know which figures released in the past 3-4 years are selling higher on the secondary market, and expect them to re-release them. NO...But when a relatively common figure gets re-releases, it does make you wonder... Did they just have a bunch of them lying around and figured ...what the heck, lets package them in TR? -There has to be some sort of explanation, maybe as Kurona said, his recent character Development in the end of IDW TF (Now Optimus Prime), may have lead to the decision...I don't know

In any case, it's not that anyone has a problem with re-releasing Cosmos - as you said, people who didn't get him before would love him. It's simply that Hasbro went to such extreme lengths to make sure every figure released under Titans Return could interact with Titan Masters, but then they re-release a figure that can't interact with them. It's simply confusing and contrasting to the line so far - it's important to keep in mind that being confused by a choice is not the same as disliking it. Much like how thinking something won't happen is not the same as not wanting something to happen.

Also just saw the point about the Clones, yes they are a new thing all their own, with (seemingly) no integration with the TR line theme...which is why I have ZERO interest in getting them, or any of these box sets, save perhaps for the Leader Class figures...if I can pick them up individually on eBay for a decent price.

Just like the Leaders, or some of the Legends Class that had no integration in the CW line, had no interest in them either.

I agree. It's just that I like my collection to stick with its theme. I thought Legends Warpath looked great too, but I cant have everything, so I am going to stick with the combiners which got me started (and in the case of TR, -Leaders, Legends (that interact with the leaders), and Titan Masters. The very rare exception is Thrilling 30's Jetfire, which I haven't got yet, but just because I really really like that character.

It's probably why I was out of collecting for 10 years. The thrilling 30's line had a lot of great toys, but it was kind of all-over-the-place for me. I'm weird when it comes to numbers, themes etc... I mean the deciding factor of why I started collecting Alternators when they came out was because each one was numbered (kind of like the original series released by Takara)

In fact its probably a good ting I don't live in Japan. I know they've since dropped it, but for the longest time, up through CR at least, every toy they released was specifically numbered, there was something about that which drew me in.

I also feel bad for anyone who is a huge fan of the clones. The first time they've ever been brought back, and potentially a lot of money, and potentially unwanted figures, just to get them.
