The G1 Starscream reissue in cartoon deco was found at a Walmart in California. Other fans have reported finding it in other Walmart stores, where it is an exclusive, while some fans also reported asking the staff about this item and being told it would only be available online. The photo below comes to us from Emmanuel who posted it in the Facebook group Transformers Botposting.

I posted finding that on the toy haul thread

I didn't know this was here..whatever..
I won't open it unless I get another one.

I like the art and the plastic free packaging.
It does look out of place with other reissues..
But I still like it.

The minions spotted one, but I ordered them to pass. Frankly, when I compare them to the Earthrise seekers, the original G1 seekers are totally outclassed.

I didn't get any of the Earthrise seekers.
My own personal reasons.
But Starscream reissues at retail.. I'm weak

Just pointing out that my preorder for Toon G1 Screamers is on the move from Walmart.ca.

I'll never see the thing in store but at least the online order deliver.

I have Starscream and Hot Rod ordered through Walmart.com, they were supposed to ship on January 12th but are now delayed. No idea when or if I'll get them.

Delayed by Walmart.com? Then they're probably as good as cancelled.

Funny thing, I wasn't that into them, now I'm kinda bummed/annoyed that I might miss out.

Ditto. I hope it works out though. My Galaxy Shuttle from walmart.com was delayed as well, only by a couple of weeks though, thankfully not cancelled this time.

Found several in Jackson, TN. They were on top riser rather than on shelf. I think they had 6 in stock and I bought one.

Canceled preorder (which had been delayed), just waiting now on (delayed) Hot Rod.

I won’t collect these but think they are great.
If they give Soundwave this treatment, I will put in a preorder asap.

I just got my G1 Toon Starscream.

First, that box have nice art, but the art is more for the current Generations Starscream than the classic one. They should have went with the pure Sunbow style of the classic cartoon. Furthermore, that box is very thin and flimsy, making it recycling bin fodder.

Starscream is packed in some weird "gerwalk" mode, being mid-transformation. With a huge paper cocoon containing the rest of the parts.

Image

This is what you get:
The notable "new" accessories are those freakishly long missiles and null-rays (safety reasons), a Megatron gun that separate in 2 parts, and new hands to hold this Megs gun.

Image

Once everything is assembled, Starscream looks good. Really good. There's no stickers included and everything is painted. His head and face got some very close attention. The toy itself feels in hand like the original, with diecast and solid plastics.

Image

Comparison with Takara's Encore. The differences are significant. Especially for the overall colors, sticker details, and null-ray size.

Image

The painted face on Toon make all the difference compared to the original.

Image

In jet mode, the difference are the same as for the bot modes, but the Toon's missiles are ridiculous. I'll stick with the null-rays. Oh, and by the way, those missiles shoot pretty well and pretty far.

Image

Does anyone know if that peg on Meg's handle serves any purpose?

Image

Overall, was that Screamers worth the same price as a standard voyager? Oh, definitely. That's pretty cheap for a "G1" Transformers and the quality is top notch. Plus you get extra stuff. And I just can't get over that superbly painted face.

Buy it if you can.

That's for the underside of the jet mode, specifically where the "chest turbines" would be.

I thought so too but it's not mentioned in the instructions. Also, I tried pegging it at the landing gear hole or the one of the chest hole but it does not work.

Any idea?

Hey Kanrabat, you say this one has extras over the original, but which ones? I am not seeing more stuff here than with the previous reissue

That what I said. The ORIGINAL. That Megatron gun with the specialised fists didn't exist back in the 1980's. And the previous "reissue", I can't consider it a true reissue due to the specialised parts. It was the first time the Megs gun with the fists appeared at that edition, right? Did that one had the absurdly long missiles as well?

Regardless, I think this Toon version is WAY superior than the previous edition. Simply because it doesn't pretend to be G1 with this bright and kick-ass deco. Especially with that fully painted face. It's also WAY cheaper for some reason. If I remember, the previous Walmart "reissue" sold for 60$CAN while the recent Toon one is 44$CAN.

My Starscream is supposed to come in via FedEx Monday, but we're supposed to get up to 10" of snow that day so I have my doubts. Sad thing is I completely forgot I ordered it until I got the email from Walmart. :HEADHURTS:

The Megatron pistol and special fist were first released with the Takra book box reissue of Starscream 20 years ago, let that sink in. It had the "Normal" launching missiles and null rays from the 80s. That set also included a fist for G1 Prime to hold Megatron too.

No, those specialized parts have been around for 20 years

Eh, the more you know.

Still, 20 years make them from 2002. So they are still new and recent.

.............Right?

Hahaha, how's this....

2002 is closer to the G1 era than it is to today.
