Eh, the more you know.

Still, 20 years make them from 2002. So they are still new and recent.

.............Right?

Hahaha, how's this....

2002 is closer to the G1 era than it is to today.

I hate you.

More fun facts:

Cleopartra is closer to today than she is to when the great Pyramid was built.

The T-Rex' time on earth is closer to today than it is to when the Stegasoraus roamed the earth.

G1 is celebrating its 40th anniversary next year.

It's still "yesterday" that I bought this:

I modded mine with long metal smokestacks and that was quite the challenge.

When Wal-Mart had the reissue of Devastator he sold out pretty quick where I live. The Wal-Mart only got 6 in and they were gone, never to return. I wonder if Hasbro will bring that set back, or maybe release another combiner team. I would think the Aerialbots would follow the Constructicons.

That actually has me thinking: would fragility play a role in which toys get reissued? Silverbolt especially has fragile leg joints as I've read... :-?

Also, perhaps the scramble style combining makes their combining joints more prone to breaking? Those pieces aren't very thick. Maybe that's why Devy got released and the others didn't?

If they're to do a Combiner exclusive again it would most certainly be a mold they've used recently so Combaticons or Predacons (which would be a good fit for pairing with ROTB). I think Omega Supreme or Sky Lynx have a better chance of getting reissued than any of the Autobot combiners.

I predict a Select G2 Stunticon set from Takara sooner or later. Due to the fact that it's now a freaking COMMANDER instead of a voyager, the set will be expensive as hell for sure.

We're talking about G1 reissues not modern figures. ;)

Oh.

Still, a G2 reissue of the Stunticons would be pretty damn nice. With the usual "CE" stamps and such to differentiate from the original. Correct me if I'm wrong but the G2 Stunticons were never officially released and just 2 or 3 copy exist, right?

I love the colors on Hot Rod, though there's a lot of empty space on the figure since there aren't stickers. The belt has some molded detail, and the legs still work, so it's okay. His torso is still fantastic.

I never really got @williams-james88's post about addin articulation to G1 in the style of MotU Origins (as mentioned in the thread below), but Hot Rod is really making me feel it now. If they added some shoulder rotation, you could have him raise his arms to raise his wrist blasters. I instinctively tried to do it, though I know it doesn't work, and hasn't for nearly 40 years.

Both the G2 Protectobots and G2 Stunticons got canceled, but availability depends. The smaller bots had packaged samples produced, couldn't be more than a dozen each. But the torso bots Motormaster and Hot Spot are much rarer, and no packaged copies for either have surfaced.

One note: G2 Breakdown got chosen as the exclusive for the very first BotCon in 1994, so he got a bigger run in the hundreds. 3H went with him over G2 Blades if you must know.

Thundercracker, Shrapnel and Perceptor coming to the Walmart G1 Reissue Retro Line

Fans of the new line of G1 reissues with cartoon accurate deco (there must be a shorter way to write this) will be happy to hear that there are more on the way. Hound should be coming soon and after that we will get Thundercracker, Shrapnel and Perceptor. For Thundercracker, we actually have images, while we have product listings/codes for the other two. While Hound was a real surprise since he had not been reissued in the west yet, the others are toys/molds that we know are readily available since they keep getting reissued. The image and listings were posted by JTPrime17. He also provided another listing for a "fan exclusive" Optimus Prime. There is no indication as to what kind of Optimus this would be.

Tra Gen retro 4 Thundercracker
Product Number: F6945
EAN: 5010996115201

Tra Gen Retro 5 Perceptor
Product Number: F6946
EAN:5010996137920

Tra Gen Retro 7 Shrapnel
Product Number: F6948
EAN: 5010996152879

Tra Gen Fan Exclusive 2 Optimus Prime
Product Number: F7144

Walmart shipped my Starscream about a week ago, finally. Hot Rod should ship on the 21st. For the price they're charging I really can't see myself going for Thundercracker, who at this early stage doesn't look to have a lot going on.

Hmm, that Optimus intrigues me. The others are a pass. I don't like the G1 seeker mold, I'm happy with PoTP Shrapnel, and I have G1 Perceptor. I just wish we could get him in comics colors.

I wonder who Retro 6 is? Another Insecticon? :-? I don't have a G1 mold Perceptor or Insecticons so I'll be getting those for sure.

I'm going to guess Prime is a ROTB exclusive.

I went into my closest Wal-Mart last night and they had no less than 13 TF:TM Starscreams on the shelf. I wonder if he's gonna be a shelf warmer and will get clearanced soon.

I don't think so.
I never ever saw it live in store and I was lucky to secure a preorder online. Your store may be one of the rare one to have it on actual shelves.

Didn't they do a re-release of the entire Insecticon collection just a few years ago? A lot of re-releases have wound up shelf-warming, then being sold for a loss on clearance. You would think that would make them a little more gun-shy at the prospect of making more of them...

You really can't compare since the mold used for Starscream was never meant to be in a massively popular children's cartoon that has stood the test of time that would show a more perfect transformation. Remember, parts forming was/is part of the Japanese toy/animation culture.

About 8 years ago as Kmart exclusive, but with terrible distribution thanks to massive store closures. Some people found them in large quantities on clearance as their stores were closed down while other stores that stayed open didn't get any. My local store didn't get a single one despite being open until 2019.

But also keep in mind that this time they're going to be in cartoon colors (i.e. flat colors and no chrome) so it's something different.

I'm looking forward that Hound. I was going to skip TC, but Skywarp is sure to be next so might as well buy it.
