Honestly I don't think Warrior class Optimus looks that bad. I just hope he gets a bigger toy that puts him in slightly better vehicle mode scale and neatens up the transformation a bit. He does have a very Star Convoy vibe to him, which I like. The Japanese fans will probably love that (IIRC, Star Convoy was very well-liked in Japan, albeit not to the degree of Star Saber).

RID is such a joke. Do really need another cartoony line of robots that have no noses but have creepy eyebrows that make them look like pedophiles ? Couldnt Hasbro just turn the generations line into a cartoon instead ? I would love to see an end to all these Bay inspired cartoon spoofs.

Maybe YOU think it's a joke. I for one look forward to it, and I'm sure they'll be plenty of kids who enjoy it, just like there were plenty of kids who enjoyed G1, Beast Wars, the Unicron Trilogy and Animated. Collectors aren't the target demographic for this series.

Also, an animated Generations series would be way too cost-prohibitive. The IDW comics can get away with being more adult-orientated because, well, they're comics, and thus are much less expensive to make. Animation costs a fortune to produce, and the target demographic of, say, and animated adaptation of the IDW comics, would be too small to justify the immense costs of animating it. It might work in Japan, where animation is much more widely accepted and the animation age ghetto doesn't really exist, but in the US it just wouldn't work.

I do not see myself purchasing any of the RID figures shown here. Maybe the show will change my mind once I see it, like animated did.

So far though, these look pretty lame.

I'm digging the Warrior Class Grimlock, He'd be sweet repainted as Overkill. The Optimus and Strongarm are less interesting to me. I am not a fan of Strongarm's hands being trapped in kibble.
I'm excited to see what the other WArrior Class figures look like.

Hmm. I'd hate to dismiss an entire line just because of this relatively short preview... but I want to dismiss the entire line because of this preview.
The large badges, the simplified designs, the overabundance of automobiles, most characters looking like tweaks of Prime Shockwave -- don't like it.

Of course, there's still the sharky dude.

I'm a bit bummed that she (Strongarm) is in no way designed (proportions, head sculpt, features) to be a female character. The toy could have easily been a Ratchet or other guy character with another paint job. With the other Generations femmebots being such a huge win, seeing another female come out without ANY feminine feature is a bummer. (IMHO.)

(But that said, I'll probably still opt to buy at least SOME figure of her and a couple others... being the first real version of the character we've gotten.)

There it is: The undeniable link between sexual preference, eyebrows and the lack of noses.

I have a really big beef with this line so far. And it's too bad since I am usually very fond of what Hasbro puts out (an upgraded Armada Starscream? great! A transforming Arcee with G1 traits for only 15$?Amazing!) but this line is making me very very sad as I believe Hasbro is really using it to draw a line in the sand between kids and collectors.

I am of course referring to the emphasis on easier transformations with the taglines of it being 1-step, 3-step or less than 10 steps. While many os us aren't happy at that emphasis with the AOE line, at least we got some decent transformers. All the dinosaurs were as complex as dinosaur alt modes have ever gotten, and there were some fun truck/car molds which I found had great detail in both modes (my favourite is Drift). So the actual Deluxes, Voyagers and 1 of the leader figures were still complex and detailed enough for collectors, while fun for kids, and they were a nice attempt at portraying the details we saw on screen. And for younger kids you had the smash and change ones and the 1-step toys.

But this line is all about simplifying transformation. To the point where the toys do not look like their animation models. Grimlock's robot mode for instance has so many different leg configurations in the toys that I have no idea what his legs will look like on the show (is it his mid section and back? one beast arm on each leg? 2 beast arms on one with the jaw split?). And by making the deluxes simpler to transform, they end up looking like blocks of alt mode kibble. Strongarm doesnt even have hands for crying out loud!

I have no complaints about the show itself, the esthetic, the target audience, or how some characters look (fembot or not) but I am so sad to see that so far this show's characters will not be well presented in toy form. This is almost the opposite of the Animated series. The great triumph was that the styles we thought were clearly drawn first by animators, were actually replicated with the toys. But this... isn't the show made to sell the toys?! So why don't you sell toys that look like the show?!

Why can't Hasbro just stick to size class naming conventions, what size are the LEGION and WARRIOR class supposed to be? Are the Legion the same size as the Prime Legion figures or closer to the Generations Legends class and is warrior supposed to be the new deluxe?

It would seem Legion refer to the smallest as before with Cyberverse Legion and Warrior should be Deluxe Class for RiD 2015. In a row, we're getting:

Generations
Legends Class
Deluxe Class
Voyager Class
Leader Class

Robots in Disguise 2015
One-Step Changers
Three-Step Changers
Legions
Warriors
Titan Heroes
Titan Guardians
