This was more of a tangent, really. Asian countries hate each other, and the first thing a Chinese person will say if you say something like "I'm going to Japan!" is "Why not go to China instead?" It's a really interesting hatred over there. SENKAKU ISLANDS!!!!

You are wrong. Not all Asian countries hate each other  there is alliance's between several different Asian countries like Singapore with the Philippines and 8 other asian countries. Just because Japan and China don't get along and north Korea hates japan and the rest of the world but north Korea and China get along. I might not be 100% correct but you are wrong.

OK, guy? Look, the samurai code started in Japan, but the actual samurai themselves sprung up through japan, china, and eventually all around all of Asia, so they aren't exclusive to Japan, and with the decepticon blatantly being called a samurai, later named Drift, It makes sense.
How is putting that together and hoping for some ninja and samurai designs even remotely racist? Please, do tell.

I'm sorry BP, but this says the opposite.

Here I am again reading a bunch of stuff about RACISM... :BANG_HEAD:

I swear, did Jazz and Twins throw us off THAT much???

I refuse to get caught in the nonsensical and unfounded "racist" argument... :HEADHURTS:

China-centric...

First, story-wise... China is ANCIENT, one of the oldest civilizations in the world. In addition, as I mentioned before, beyond it's culture, China is also RICH in fossils. Those are just TWO MAJOR plot devices I can see being used. :michaelbay:

Second, Business-wise...It's CHEAP to film in China. When I think of all the cheap places to film, China, the Middle East (already did) and then you have what used to be the Eastern Block of the old USSR (Romania, Ukraine, etc) China seems way cooler and intriguing. :-?

SOOoooo, let's CHILL on the racism stuff (although anyone acting like China and Japan are the same needs to do a little research...or watch the Bruce Lee's Chinese Connection). We also need to just sit back, relax and see what unfolds. Bay has tricked us before, misinformed us before, and everyone just needs to wait till we KNOW what's up.

That's my two cents.

Bottom line, like I said before. China and Japan are both on the eastern side of the world and they don't all hate each other. I have to correct you Metrosuple cause I don't want anyone calling you a D-bag.

Transformers 4 is more concerned with the global market and China so they can sell tickets, then they are about TRUE Transformers fans and keeping the core of these bots and their history. Maybe China should make its own Transformers movie? I get so much more disgusted day after day with this brand all across the board... its enough to make me want to change my name back.

HASBRO: How about having a contest in the UNITED STATES where some of the ACTUAL TRUE TRANSFANS get to be in TF4 ??? Better yet, only do it on the major TF fan sites where it MATTERS !!! You know, the United States, where Transformers STARTED.

Yea, let's really get this back to Transformers. Racist or possible-racist rants are for other sites, not Seibertron! Come on everybody.
I suppose I'm hopeful, but this can either go great (delving into ancient Chinese lore, relating it to Cybertron, nice new locations, ect.), or it could go horribly bad (every racist Chinese joke you've ever heard.).

Am I the only one who finds the way he phrases it very amusing.
"China is a character"
The entire landmass of china is a character. Is it going to transform and start talking? (I'd not put it past Bay...)
But in all seriousness, I think this could be pretty cool, especially seeing as how some people have mentioned the whole historical/fossil element.

China s a character is kind of strange, I know we have cityformers and planetformers. But countryformers?

Anyway, doesn't the Transformers lore come from Marvel comics? Or the dudes that worked there?

I don't think they're "giving away" the entire brand to someone who simply has more money to do something with it.

But actual true transfans? They're actually all across the globe, I always thought that is one of Transformers' points. Green Autobot, small Autobot, red Autobot, car Autobot, boat Autobot. Compared to Transformers, all humans look exactly the same, kind of like ants.

Actually, the samurai are indeed exclusive to Japan. Neither China nor Korea have any equivalent to the samurai class. While both countries do have a similar code of conduct for their soldiers, it's not as well-defined that of Japan's bushido (literally "the way/methods of the warrior").

The samurai are actually part of the Japanese feudal caste system--the warrior caste. China and Korea do not have a clear-cut caste system.

As for ninjas, while I'm sure both ancient China and Korea have their own spies, assassins and intelligence agencies, they're probably not quite as prolific as their Japanese counterparts.

Oh god no! more Transformers that are racist stereo types! exactly what we need! Michael Bay has already run the Transformers Franchise so far into the ground I guess that is how they ended up in China! I am looking forward to a great movie with "Pacific Rim" by Guillermo Del Toro maybe if he directed TF5 there would finally be a decent live action TF movie!

I'm pretty sure he meant the country will play an important role in the story. "Character" can mean more than someone with dialogue.

Anyway, doesn't the Transformers lore come from Marvel comics? Or the dudes that worked there?

Depends. The original toys were Japanese. The cartoon gave them shallow personalities and established the basics. I think the lore itself comes from snippets on the packaging and the assorted comic writers over the years, and even then it's such a clusterfrak that Hasbro had to go with the whole "multiverse" set up just to make sense of it all.

I don't think they're "giving away" the entire brand to someone who simply has more money to do something with it.

Pretty much this. The notion of a hero or group of heroes belonging to one country when they protect the entire world is an outdated notion. Even DC comics recognizes that Superman no longer solely represents "the American way" as he's protecting entire galaxies at times, not just Earth let alone America. Transformers came about at a time when heroes represented much smaller territories, and that time has now past.

And to be honest, and I'm certain I'll draw flames for this, I wouldn't mind another Transformers film that does some globe trotting. Strange that I don't remember complaints of the Middle East "taking over Transformers" when half of Revenge of the Fallen takes place there.

To be honest, I always loved the concept of the Transformers waging their war in different settings, whether it be the cityscape, the ocean, the desert, the moon, etcetera. It was a major factor in my interest in my first[ish] series, Armada. Another plot device I absolutely thought was cool was the history element, and how it ties with humanity's own history.

I would be delighted if they end up doing a Transformers film revolving around mysterious areas, such as the Bermuda Triangle (where they could have a monstrous Decepticon behind all the strange happenings there) or Aokigahara Forest, also known as Suicide Forest, in Japan (said to be the haunting place of Japanese Yūrei, angry spirits of those who died).
