This was trash... part 1 through 3 is the best its gonna get, (with part 1 in 2007) being the best.
If we can't get a remake from James Cameron or someone like that, then this "bay" franchise is dead to me... period

I liked it, I've liked all the Bay movies pretty well, and this one was my favorite.

It played out a bit like the plot of season 1 and 2 of prime as a Bay movie, mixed with some of the G1 episode where they go back to medieval times and also the old kids read along book "When Continents Collide" had some stuff in there that seemed to be almost reflecting some biblical, book of revelations stuff with the plot about the horns, the dragon, the seal etc, but that wasn't carried too far.

So ya, I will be buying the DVD to go with my collection.

There are alot of loose ends to tie up as this spoilerful review stated, also I was curious if Merlin and Joshua Joyce were the same guy for a while because of Tucci I thought maybe they had pulled some Terminator or early G1 time traveling cave stunt on us and that is why he knew so much about the "magic"

Dear god that was a lot of words, id really recommend trimming it a bit cause your going to lose people about halfway through. But after reading that im going to do what i always do with bayformers, wait til someone i know gets a bootleg then borrow it & decide if its worth spending money to go see. It sounds like the same crap we've been dealing with for years, tons of potential but because of shortsightedness and targeting the mindless moron demographic we get stuck with :michaelbay: and not much else.

Side question: do the decepticons have lines and do stuff in this one or are they just there to get killed (be plot devices) like always? Sorry if this was mentioned in the article, i started skimming through at about the half way mark so i might have missed it.

Deceptions talk in this one don't they always talk from previous movies?

Good luck with bootleg copy you won't be able make much out with it boot leg copies can't make out what is what in dark scenes there are a lot of dark parts you be able tell what is what may as well see it in theater or wait for DVD

So, just saw the movie and want to correct one thing.
The Witwican line is NOT DOA. Edmond Burton says something about the Witwican line ending but finishes with "Well, not yet". So this seems to suggest that Sam is in fact still alive.

What happened to Drift? Did he die? He's not with everyone at the end in the group shot saying farewell

He was not talking about Sam. He was referring to himself. He was old but not dead yet.

And that review was WAAAAAAAAY too long. 2/3 of it was totally unnecessary.

There will be another set of reviews coming through as soon as we have a staff round-up, and of course the Twincast special episode! :D

You could be right, maybe he did mean himself, or maybe he didn't. It does leave it open that perhaps Sam is still around, which unless someone specifically went out to murder him and his family, I don't see how he can be dead.

Saw it tonight. Non-spoiler version: this is probably the best movie out of the five, without hyperbole. I liked it so much that it made me go out and finally get Voyager Optimus and Beserker on my way home, and I was slightly ambivalent about getting them before. Age of Extinction made me want Hound so bad, and now The Last Knight makes me want Cogman just as badly, if not more.

Spoiler-version: Things I liked and got excited about:

*Cogman. Literally the best thing ever. Dude had me rolling every time he showed up. If he doesn't show up in the next one, my hope in humanity will be dashed.

*Unicron: he's finally been name-dropped in the movie universe! Kinda expected him to get mentioned somewhere, but wasn't expecting a Prime reference in that he turns out to be Earth. And that post-credit scene absolutely sets up the next one, nobody deny it.

*The Nemesis Prime name-drop. Now I wish they'd revise the Shadow Spark Optimus Prime packaging to reflect that.

*The WWII scene; as a history major, this was what I was waiting for. I really hope we see toys based on Bumblebee and Hot Rod's WWII designs.

*The Decepticons; finally! The main ones have personalities! Mohawk retool of Hunt for the Decepticons Brimstone, pls.

*All the references to the previous movies: Simmons; the Ark during the Moon's destruction; the Pyramid still slightly destroyed from Devastator in Revenge of the Fallen; Starscream's head (Megatron even goes Hamlet on it); Viviane name-dropping Shockwave and Soundwave when she gets kidnapped by Hot Rod; even Sam Witwicky gets a small nod.

And a few things I didn't like about it;

*Cogman; despite him being my favorite thing about the movie, he never transformed and combined with the Aston Martin like they pre-movie hype led us to believe. Was very disappointed, but optimistic that it might happen in the next one.

*Dinobots; once again, they get shafted as far as screen time is concerned. I wasn't happy that they showed up for less time than Age of Extinction, and they never even transformed.
Kinda irritated about it, but whatevs I guess.

*The Decepticons; wished they had survived to see the end, especially Nitro.

*The Knights of Cybertron: kinda irritated how it takes all twelve for them to combine into Dragonstorm, yet the upcoming Leader-class figure only breaks down into two. I get that it would be a nightmare to engineer a twelve-bot dragon combiner, but still.

*To a lesser degree, Hot Rod's gun. No further comments.

All in all, this movie did a lot more right than all the others. Thinking about the previous ones, I didn't really have a favorite; the first one was my least favorite, then the next three kinda were tied. They never beat each other out because they all had an equal amount of things I liked and disliked. But The Last Knight? To me, it unquestionably had more right than wrong. Definitely the most Transformer-y of the franchise. I think we're finally getting on the right track as far as Transformers movies are concerned, and I've regained my confidence in the movies.

I couldn't figure out what happened to Drift either, but I sort of think he ended up at the knight ship. After all, he said he was flying this time, and was not letting Hound near the controls, so maybe he went to get the ship

Did you say this movie "regained your confidence"?!!!!
You must be smoking energon at its purest form....
This movie bounced around in a horrific way, not to mention, other than the 5 to 7 decepticons, who in the hell were the army guys shooting at when cybertron was colliding with earth? How did "galvatron" turn back to Megatron, or are those 2 different robots? Why was gridlock even in the movie? Just for that one commercial everyone has seen?... how did bumble bee get to reassemble himself? There are WAY too many questions left. This was just a pile of explosions with robots. This franchise should have just been called GoBots.
The only thing this movie "regained" was to definitely stay away from ANY thing transformers that Bay puts out.
To a millineal, this was probably a great movie and im pushing the envelope saying that. Pure garbage

What part of the bills shall you or the critics pay? Because it seems to me you want in on my life if you're telling me how I should think. If I like the movie enough that it gives me hope that the next ones will be good, then so be it. Like Generation One didn't have loads of plot holes and errors? Of course not, because it was the original and can literally do no wrong./sarcasm

I'm not even going to touch the millennial thing. >:oP

It's called opinions people can have them and honestly I enjoyed this film a lot especially the first hour which was just like an episode of the G1 cartoon if it was more mature.

Also for those wondering where the heck Drift is he's the one flying the Knight ship there is hand waved dialogue that was kinda hard to hear but I always pay attention to the sounds and voice lines in the movies.

But what's up with the random Scrapper clone in the Junkyard right when the TRF and the Decepticons show up? Hope it's explained later in either movie 6, interviews or concept art.

Edit: Although it really should of been handled better the obvious reason that Barricade was not in the final battle after stone hedge is because he can't fly like Megatron and Nitro can so this either means he was killed off screen by the military or he was able to escape like he always does.

I'm going with the latter and I think it's intentional as a reference to his fate in the 2007 movie.

Ok cool,,, I just wanted to make sure i wasn't crazy, reading your posts and how they are so aggressive towards what someone feels about a movie they've seen, WITHIN an article about a movie review that someone has seen is quite radical and it has to be drug induced

Your the one who is in denial, hostile and is accusing us of being on drugs.

I have never drink alcohol besides one glass of beer and one sip of wine which I hated both, I will never take drugs and I can't stand smoking.

All the Decepticons talk, but they're all killed off within 5 minutes of their introductions, with the exception of Nitro and Barricade. That was one of the biggest disappointments for me. Nitro gets killed later, which is a goddamn shame, because his character was ******* brilliant.

A lot of people didn't like it ok just like all the others this isn't news your just posting another group of people's opinions.

Why are you insulting the people who said they like the film what did we ever do to you to be referred to as "millennials" and drug users?

There will never be a Transformers film or anything for that matter that everybody likes it's going to end up either more people liked it or more people hated it because there really is no universal opinion on anything in existence.

G1OPT1MU5PR1M3 ... knock it off. You didn't like it, congratulations, have a banana.

Others don't feel that way. You may not agree with them, but tough ****, they're entitled to their opinion, deal with it.

And Deadput, same goes for you. We've been through this before, if people want to be aggressive in the defence of their opinion, that doesn't make it right for you to be aggressive right back. Last chance, from here on out I'm not tolerating your bad moods, it's warnings.
