How Does Bumblebee's Face Work?

So I know this is probably a weird topic and it's super nitpicky, but I'm having a bit of trouble deciphering how Bumblebee's face works in the movies. When I first saw it I assumed the plate around the circular gas mask section was kind of like his jaw with the two points at the top looking like an insectlike mouth. After I talked to my roommate he mentioned he saw the circular section itself as the mouth. Even weirder to me, some of the toys take the angled section behind the faceplate and make it look like it's a nose poking out of his face. I think it's supposed to be his upper jaw(?) though, because in Age of Extinction it looks like he's got a smallish mouth opening in shock when Galvatron transforms in front of him. Is anyone else out there as confused as I am? It's hard for me to see him in a different way because of how I saw him the first time. This is slowly driving me crazy.

Here, hope this helps!

RED: These pieces form his nose.

BLUE: This area is basically that area between the upper lip and nose. It's usually not this exaggerated, but since he has a very surprised look on his face, it's more noticeable.

ORANGE: This is just part of his face, not part of his mouth

GREEN: This is what I would consider his actual mouth. Or his equivalent to one at least.
