We are still in talks with more guests including a THIRD guest of honour and we will be making more announcements soon about some of the activities and events taking place at the convention soon including many that will be new to Auto Assembly for 2010...

It has been brought to Seibertron.com's attention that some members of the Transformers online community have received unauthorized charges on their credit or debit cards. While there is much speculation pertaining to this issue, no one has been able to confirm the source of the security breach.

People affected by this issue are reporting unauthorized charges in small dollar amounts (under $10) appearing from well known and respected companies such as iTunes and Microsoft. These charges have appeared within the past month (for most, within the past week). You can view discussions and speculation about this unfortunate issue at Seibertron.com and TFW2005.com.

Please note that if you see any suspicious information pending on your credit card account(s), that you should immediately call the 800 number on the back of your card, inform them that you think the card number might have been stolen and that you would like them to send you a new card. Here is some additional information about credit card fraud that you should read.

http://www.scambusters.org/CreditCardFraud.html

From ScamBusters.org:

If you suspect credit card fraud:

If your credit cards are lost or stolen, contact the issuer(s) immediately.

Most credit card companies have toll-free numbers and 24-hour service to deal with these emergencies -- they are eager to avoid credit card fraud.

According to US law, once you have reported the loss or theft of your credit card, you have no more responsibility for unauthorized charges. Further, your maximum liability under federal US law is $50 per credit card -- and many credit card issuers will even waive that fee for good customers.

If you follow all these tips, it will go a long way in protecting you from credit card fraud.

Fellow Seibertronian, payton34, has been vigilant this morning contacting two popular online Transformers retailers regarding this situation. Here are the messages that he received from tfsource.com and bigbadtoystore.com respectively:

From TFsource.com

Hi All -

We appreciate this being brought to our attention right away. We've been working on this diligently and have implemented several other security precautions on our site immediately regardless of the route cause of the issue. Anyone who feels they may have been compromised, or wants us to delete their card information, is more than willing to email us and we'll be happy to do so. At the same time I want to let all know that I am confident in the security of the site, and even my information is registered on TFsource.

Regarding credit card data, it's not stored on TFSource, it is stored on a secure 3rd party's site, one that hosts many famous and household name sites, that's why we selected this resource. It's always possible a section of their data has been compromised but we have not been notified as such.

Regarding access to this data, no one at TFsource has this access, except for me, and rest assured I am not using anyone's data to make fraudulent purchases as TFsource has always had a high level of integrity and that's not something that we're going to change.

Anyone that feels they have had information compromised as a result of our site, or even potentially is more than welcome to email me directly. We've been working all morning with our coding team working full force on looking at any potential security issues, and will work to ensure everyone's information is safe and secure when accessing TFsource now and in the future.

Thanks,
Curt

From BigBadToyStore.com

Hi Michael - thanks for sending the information over, I'm sorry to hear this has happened to TFSource, I've worked with Curt and his family on a few occaisons and met them at Botcon and they are great people.

I appreciate your concern for BBTS users and their information - BBTS has spent considerable time and resources to make sure our customers' financial data is safe. We are PCI compliant and additionally do not store full credit card information on our servers. All information is securely kept and processed by Paypal, our credit card processing gateway. Because cards are stored by Paypal, no employee or owner at BBTS has access to your full credit card information, we can only view the first 4 and last 4 digits. We also invest heavily in intrusion prevention and monitoring systems that protect our systems from any type of attack. Our systems are tested daily for vulnerabilities and are monitored by a staff of security experts 24 hours a day.

Thanks!

Toy Review Of Kabaya Transformers Gum + Convoy Sets

Transformers News: Toy Review Of Kabaya Transformers Gum + Convoy Sets

Seibertron Energon Pub member Diem who resides in Japan, strikes again by giving us another exclusive personal view on Japanese Transformers toys.

This time he is reviewing the Japanese Kabaya Food Gum + Convoy Sets. He is kind enough to go through all 3 different figures for your pleasure reading.

I just picked up the Kabaya candy figures and thought I'd give people the verdict. So far I only opened and constructed G1 Convoy so far, but he's great! His parts were really easy to remove from the sprue and put together. Though he looked very tacky and plasticky to begin with, some kind of magic happened as I applied the stickers and he ended up really cute. He looks a little dodgy from the back, but then so does the full size figure.

His transformation is identical to the original except the forearms which have to be removed and reapplied, and his articulation consists of bending elbows and a rotating neck. His stickers were generally easy to apply but his face and headlights presented problems. I just quickly put him together at work but someone with a craft knife, a sticker tool and maybe some paint could do a better job.

Also, he comes with gum!

G1 Convoy pics:
Re: Kabaya hands on
Re: Kabaya hands on
Re: Kabaya hands on
Re: Kabaya hands on
Re: Kabaya hands on

And now for Henkei Convoy. This guy comes with a whole load of stickers and a whole load of parts. This meant he was pretty complex to put together, and not as much fun initially.

Overall, he's not as good as G1 Convoy. He's a severe partsformer (basically his arms and shoulders come off, split into three parts and get awkwardly reconfigured again), his head is (barely) held up by friction alone and his elbow articulation is nullified by his arm doors. Biggest complaint of all, the red of his stickers is a totally different shade to that of his plastic.

On the plus side, he looks okay in truck form, and fantastic in robot form. His legs rotate at the hips, and his arms at the shoulders and slightly at the elbows. Also his head can turn when it isn't faling down. His canopy can be stored on his back or held as a sort of shield.

Re: Kabaya hands on
Re: Kabaya hands on
Re: Kabaya hands on
Re: Kabaya hands on
Re: Kabaya hands on
Re: Kabaya hands on

Sorry about the crappy pictures.

Now for Star Saber.
Starsaber is (pun only slightly intended) definitely star of the show. Despite being based on a larger figure than the others, the boisterous bulkiness of post-Season 3 Japanese toys works to its advantage.

His robot mode looks absolutely fantastic! He's pretty well articulated with shoulders, elbows, a turning head and hips that don't swing but do splay. He can hold his sword or stow on on his back and his head is made up of no less than five seperate pieces. He looks good even before the stickers are applied and when they are applied; he's awesome.

There are a couple of downsides. His stickers are incredibly fiddly, to the point where a magnifying glass and some tiny tools might help apply them (I used his sword, which is why his eyes and cockpit are a little wonky). Also his jet (?) mode is good, but the sword across the back looks a little awkward and his head jutting up looks downright odd. Also he has the same red issue as Henkei Convoy, although this only really applies to the crest on his head.

Re: Kabaya hands on
Re: Kabaya hands on
Re: Kabaya hands on
Re: Kabaya hands on
Re: Kabaya hands on
Re: Kabaya hands on

So that's my thoughts on the three. For $3 figures, they're amazing, though my recommendation relies on how much they cost you to import and how much you want them. Also it depends on whether you are prepared to take the time to carefully construct them and maybe even paint them. G1 Convoy would be fantastic for collectors of Prime, or for those who just want a mini Prime, Star Saber is fantastic in his own right, and Henkei Convoy...didn't impress me too much.

TFW2005 board member Hoolagrin has found some DCPI numbers in the computers at Target which provide hints at future figures, as seen below.

087-06-1950 - Transformers Cyber Ops Bumblebee ~$60
087-06-0109 - Transformers Movie 2 Battle pk ~$20
087-06-1556 - Transformers 5pk combiner ~$20
087-06-1889 - Transformers DLX movie collection ~$13
087-06-1890 - Transformers DLX Collection 2 ~$13
087-06-1892 - Transformers Combiners 2 pk ~ $10
087-06-0019 - Transformers movie 2 legends 2pk ~$7
087-06-2048 - Transformers Animation Laptop ~ $20

Is is generally assumed that the Combiners 2 pk refers to the Power Core Combiners that we reported earlier. Also the legends 2pk would refer to the Smokescreen vs Starscream and Bumblebee vs Shadow Striker that we also reported earlier. The DLX Collection 2 is also likely to be the NEST Bumblebee vs Soundwave 2 pack.

As for the rest, it's all a guessing game at this point. Feel free to speculate!

Also a neat tidbit, Hoolagrin continues to explain that it appears that the Human Alliance line may continue past the ROTF line. THis is however, just a rumour as Hasbro has been known to change its mind in the past. Check out the original post here.
