Amazon.com have put up two new listings for TF TPBs. First up is Transformers G1 Pocket Field Guide Volume 1 and second is Devils Due G.I.Joe Vs The Transformers II.

The Devils Due book is expected. The Pocket Guide is not. It is a pocket book version of the first G1 MTMTE book. But Dreamwave are gone. So who is publishing this? At the top of the listing is "Not Available" for an author but the Item Information box cites a May release with Dreamwave as publisher. Questions, questions.

Check out this figure. At first glance, it looks like a test shot of a remoled Galaxy Force Starscream. However, there's nothing in the pictures to give it scale. TF Club's "littleiron" informs us that the piece is actually a bit TALLER than the Unicron figure. With the Supreme size-class rumored to be dead and buried, what on earth could this thing be? A hoax? A custom? Some kind of mass hysteria? I'm sure we'll all find out soon enough...

Thegreatdogworm has posted a message from bluestreak56 of TF@themoon, which tells us that the Toy'r'us he works for are going to stop stocking Alternators. Not such a big deal really since they have bearly started. However, bluestreak56 goes on to tell us that Energon basics are also to be stopped.
Is this indicative of the direction Tfs are going in the UK? Or is it more likely that this is done to TRU being in trouble? Either way it cannot be good for our UK brethern.

While shopping in Target the other I found the last clearanced Omega Sentinel (for 31.48). A number of other Seibertronians also report having difficulties finding this repaint.

The shocking thing, however, is that Sentinel rings up as "NCF TRNSFMRS".

"What," you may ask, "does 'NCF' stand for?"

Well, in Target-lingo, it stands for "Not Carried Forward", according to my finacee, on Target's pricing team.

NCF items are items which Target doesn't plan on restocking, ever.

Indeed, the shelf tag where the Omegas used to be is gone, with more Ultra price-points filling in.

If you remeber, there was talk at this past year's OTFCC that another Supreme level figure would debut in Energon. We've heard no word about it yet. Could dismal sales of Unicron, and the fact that a number of stores started selling Omega at below cost, just to move them, have caused Hasbro to can the largest, and most expensive price point? Is it really only the hard-core collectors who can afford to purchase those products? Do parents really spend that much on one toy for their children?

This has all been speculation on my part, but I think it's something we need to be aware of. Do you want to see the Supreme price point present? Or do you think it's a waste of money and retail space?

Sound off in the Energon pub, in this thread.

Galaxy Force Vector Prime's Head ...

Vector Prime's head comparisonFor the couple of you who haven't noticed and insist that Vector Prime's head looks like Megatron, notice that it looks like the Autobot symbol, or for those of you who are fans of the Marvel G1 Transformers comic series, the Last Autobot. Yep, it's the Autobot symbol ... in head form.

With no offense to G1 Prowl, it's about time the Autobot symbol was turned into the head of a really cool figure.

This came in an email to us. It sounds very plausible...

Devil's Due & DC are the current publishers are speaking to.

DDP would basically pick & choose stuff from DW's run to continue with and
release lesser stuff as the brand reaffirms it's success. Much of it actually
produced by DreamEngine, but now published by DDP.

DC is the dark horse in this race, no puns intended to the Conan-publisher.
They want to do Cybertron as part of their Johnny DC line of kid's comics. As far
as G1 goes, they want to tie it into the movie in 2006 and not deal with the
previous comics or cartoons AT ALL. They did apparently dangle one juicy carrot
in front of Hasbro's nose tho: full-fledged membership in the DC Universe. Does
OA have enough metal for a ring that big? :D

For the record, Marvel wasn't interested and Hasbro never called THEM either.
There's bad blood between the companies after some remarks Joe Quesada made
about Hasbro & DW regarding the Transformers comics (some crude and sexual in
nature) that are still fresh on their minds. Joe did the same thing to DC after
JLA/Avengers and Paul Levitz broke off all relations with Marvel until Joe steps
down as their Editor-in-chief. And here we all used to think Jemas was Marvel's
biggest butthole.

Well, it was a fun ride while it lasted but now Dreamwave is no more. Fortunately, we won't have to wait several years to get our fix of Transformers comics. As we speak (well, probably not as I speak since it's 4 am over at Casa de Smooth) Hasbro is talking with other publishers about the Transformers comic book license. Speculation runs rampant and the rumor mill begins turning, who's going to have the license?

DC? Probably not. Why? Because DC has never had anything to do with Transformers in the 21 year history of the brand. Sure, they might try something new, but this is the company that kept us waiting nearly 60 years for Lois and Clark to tie the knot!
Marvel? Perhaps. They did have great luck for a couple years back in the 80's with The Transformers. They also had terrible luck with them in the 90's. Marvel big-shot Joe Quesada has said that he'd be interested. Quesada's "Daredevil: Father" is currently even later than any Dreamwave Transformers book had ever been, so if Hasbro wants to continue Dreamwave's tradition, Marvel could be a place to start.

Image? Say it with me, Transformers Volume 4 issue 1 Todd McFarlane incentive cover. Has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?

Dream Engine? The new company that's owned by Pat Lee's brother, Roger. It seems to me that this would be like shooting yourself in the foot then thinking that maybe shooting yourself in the other foot wouldn't be so bad. Sure, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but nor does releasing three parts of a combiner several months before the other two.

Wildfur? Simon Furman and Andrew Wildman had their second War Within title butchered both art and storyline wise by Dreamwave; could we see these two writing and drawing Transformers the way they damn-well should be? No. It's not gonna happen.

Devil's Due? The company that's making a go of the GI:Joe license has already put out 10 different Transformers-related comics in the past year or so. It would not shock me if Devil's Due snagged the license and hired James and Adam to write while actually paying guys like Joe and Don to fill pencil their stories. It would also not surprise me if they also brought in Simon Furman to continue his run on Energon/Cybertron.

Whatever happens, I'm sure that I'm not alone in hoping that everyone who contributed to Dreamwave's run with the Transformers license, as well as those who worked on DW's other titles (Yes, they existed) the best of luck in the future. While it's a shame that we might not get many Transformers books in 2005, at least we won't have to keep watching Pat Lee draw Optimus Prime with huge robot breasts!

As I'm sure you're all aware, Energon Episode #33 was skipped for some unknown reason. Well, to add more fuel to that fire, an anonymous source reporting at tvtome.com has stated that it was skipped due to the fact that it "just tells the relationship between Scorponok, Unicron, and Alpha Q" and that its unlikely to be dubbed now that Energon has finished its broadcasting run.

What's interesting is that this source also says that it is unlikely that it will be dubbed unless "they take the time to dubbed the English track in for a DVD release." And much like Armada, Energon is likely to get a box set release, in addition to its single disc releases, so it's very likely that this will happen. We will, of course, keep you updated.
