Would have helped if they allowed the back part to rotate 180 in robot mode.

Last but not least, the prototype photo of MP-12 Sideswipe has also make an appearance, with size comparison with MP-10 Convoy. Also the magazine is teasing the silhouette of MP-13 that will make an appearance at the upcoming 2012 Tokyo Toy Show.
Hello Soundwave?
Not sure how you thought MP-13 to be soundwave, because that totally looks like another Lambor mold.
I'm with you. It looks like a shot taken from a different angle to me. Nothing about it says Soundwave to me. I am intrigued by the new direction Masterpiece is going.
Comparing the MP13 silhouette with 3rd party SW, I can say that is Soundwave.
(pictures was used for comparison only)
It's not bad comparison the only thing that throws me off is the shoulder cannon .

Also, notice the apparent size comparison with MP-10. Looks like the MP line is getting down scaled.
Posted by Ravage XK on May 23rd, 2012 @ 8:18am CDT
I know that being smaller it will be cheaper but I like the idea of MP figures towering over pretty much every other figure from every other line.
So long as its as good as it can be ( preferably with die cast parts, mmmm shiny ) I'll be happy though.

Needs to be able to angle more. Those hard sharp corners are a turn off in bot mode.

I thought both those companies were taking that stance.

Lamborghini is owned by Audi AG, which is 99.7% owned by Volkswagen AG, so it is a bit strange...unless there are enough differences to get around that.

No, it's not. For the 84th time, MP bot modes are gonna be in scale. Sideswipe is a short character, thus he's a short MP. Bigger characters will get bigger MPs, smaller characters will get smaller MPs.Lord Onixprime wrote:Also, notice the apparent size comparison with MP-10. I'm trying not to get angry, but it's tough when the situation needs to be repeated like that.

But $159 for a figure that size seems pretty insane.

Not Alternator sized, that scale is more Alternity sized.

Sideswipe will be about Alternity/ Deluxe sized.
Posted by Sabrblade on May 23rd, 2012 @ 9:06am CDT
Alternators were closer to Voyager size, while Alternity figures were roughly Deluxes. The size comparison pic in this latest scan definitely has MP Lambor standing at Voyager height.Lord Onixprime wrote:TheForgottenTaxi wrote:So wait, MP-Sideswipe is basically going to be Alternator-sized? That's definitely MP-10. Using Grimlock as a reference, yeah, so not Alternity sized, but kind of a short Alternator. Definitely not taller than an Alt though.

Yeah, I came to the same conclusion that he is about Alternator Smokescreen size, if ever so slightly shorter, and less girth.

As for the silhouette, if it is Soundwave, they really should show it and put an end to the third party toy.

True. It seems that the scale will be pretty arbitrary then. Does Rodimus look too big compared to MP-10 in vehicle mode?
I concur that MP-13 is probably Soundwave, if you look above the right shoulder of the silhouette you can see what looks like his launcher thingy. That would be awesome.

I like MP-12 as it looks in the photos. I'm just wondering how its aesthetics would match up with MP-10's in bot mode.

True, but at Botcon when they did the Prime reveals, the Voyager wave four had Thundertron and two figures they didnt say yet, i have a sneaking suspicion that one of them is Breakdown

Not for nothing but this is titled as a mp but the transformation looks pretty standard they couldn't make the wheels on the legs fold in some how. It looks like you pull down on the legs and just split them apart then flip the feet out like a standard deluxe figure. I really hope this isn't a glorified classics figure it better have gimmicks out asstronaut if its gonna cost over $50 for a deluxe class figure and that's to much looks like we are gonna be paying for the name and packaging with this mp.

Take a better look at the back of the calves. That is not just a "'pull down the legs" transform, it's a bit more complex than it looks on the surface.
Remember, Masterpiece Grimlock has BASICALLY the same transform as G1, but it has a good bit more to it as well. Odds are the same is at work here.

Ya I seen the caves look like they do a little more but the wheels just sit there. Most newer figures that part swings around so the wheels are facing towards the back at least and looks like a leg in the front not just the bottom of a car. And I still like the figure I'm not saying its bad but the lower legs just look blah. And as for Grimlock ya it's just like g1 but there is nothing wrong with it IMO great detail vibrant colors just the right amout of diecast in the right places that figure is what got me started on MP line

If you want an acurrate G1 Sideswipe, the wheels are soposed to be oriented in the position they are. To change it would be inaccurate.

agreed.. this isn't supposed to be an update to the design, it's supposed to be an attempt to make the toy as cartoon accurate as possible. the wheels are screen accurate.
also, this is more of a voyager sized toy, almost exactly the same size as the binaltech line, as to be in scale with MP10 prime. my guess is that mp13 soundwave will be the same height as prime.

I suspect that an MP Soundwave, if there is one, will include at most 2 cassettes. The price alone for them including them all would be prohibitive.
I wouldn't mind, that's still better than trying to hunt down every cassette in expensive sets. Besides since I only buy MPs it's not that much of a problem.

That is true that's how he is in g1 I wasn't thinking about it like that. And if mp-13 is sound wave it would be nice if the cassettes were about the size of classics ravage it would be even cooler if the could put a working am fm radio in him that's not hard I've seen some really small radios these days
Posted by craggy on May 23rd, 2012 @ 3:02pm CDT
Hotrodimust: an AM/FM radio wouldn't be terribly G1 accurate, seeing as how he was a tape player. honestly, if they were to go the route of giving him some kind of music playing capacity, an mp3 would work just as well. Seems unlikely since the most we've had in an MPs up until now has been some LEDs though.

I'm sorry but there was a g1 soundwave that was a working radio and cassette player not so sure about the cassette but I know it was a radio. And a mp3 player would jack the price up a radio probably wouldn't even affect the price because the technology is just rediculously old and cheap lol. Also I commented a while back about the size of mp-13 and said they said he would be about the size of a binaltech and altinator and would fit in mp-10 trailer and someone said those models of TFs are to big to fit in mp-10. Well I'm gonna call you out on that because I just put my silverstreak in mp-10 trailer just fine and it closes up but grimlock won't fit and ravage makes in up to the back wheels so it is possible
