Does anyone really think Amazon would request and exclusive figure in limited quantities? I don't.
But...all the same, people are going to flip tables about availability and scalpers when a little patience would go a long way.

My philosophy on the whole scalper thing: You have to pay to play. Its up to you on how much you want to spend. Wait for a good deal and take advantage. If you are impatient, you will be flushing $ down the drain. You don't want a scalper to win, don't buy it. I call it a form of silent protest. Rant over.....sorry.

Of course most of us realize life isn't fair and that a free market, in the long run, is beneficial to everyone even if you have to occasionally pay more for something on an individual level.

Wouldn't blame you.
The last time we had this scalper discussion, the thread got locked before I could put in my real .02 (and just after I threatened to burn every Windcharger I could find just to spite some whiners).
Whether scalping is right or wrong, comes down to a question of morality and value systems, and that discussion has no place on this board.

The issue is not about fools buying from scalpers --it's about sympathizing with scalpers/condoning the practice. This is why you're being called a db -let's make that clear.
BBTS may have markups, but as Counterpunch stated, they go through a 3rd party to get their product sometimes and are not intentionally gouging. Brianstoys, however, are horrible. Jack up the prices on SW and TF -extortionists. Robotkingdom - I don't know how they get their product, but $90 isn't too bad, if you're impatient & have $ to burn. TFsource -- I don't even wanna touch the subject on them b/c of the hacking/'trying to sweep it under the rug' shady business. I've lost all respect for them and for all of those who helped them when they turned a blind eye to the situation.

For agreeing with the practice of scalping, you are a douchebag. And saying that it's OK as long as there are morons out there willing to spend the money, it's like saying it's OK for someone to be a coke dealer as long as there are people out there willing to buy the cocaine. They don't need to be supplied, they need help.

That. And may I add, it's not just about plastic toys. It's all things in general. Like when I see a douchebag trying to sell tickets to a sold-out sports game on the sidewalk for twice what s/he paid. Douchebag.

Better answer. Your original statement came off as if you supported scalping.
deathy - this an online exclusive, so the gas/time/footwork argument doesn't apply. $250?? This is an over 400% increase in price. Blatant scalping. Plain and simple. I also don't support those "profit" guys.
With that sentence said above. I also don't support the fans who go the extra mile to harass, mock & bully these "Profit" guys.
If you don't want to support the "profit" guys than take a stand in a respectful & polite manner. Example: don't buy their stuff.

If they beat me to something, oh well, tough luck for me. I suck it up and move on. I'm not going to let it upset me, i'm not going to jump on a messageboard and whinge and cry about it, I get on with the more important matters in life.
But then there's statements like this

That make me want to support scalping, simply to see over-reactions like that. Seriously, pieces of s$*t? Because they beat you to a bit of plastic and are selling it for profit?

I don't recall saying you did.
Now let's end this discussion about the oh so naughty evils that is "scalping" and back to letting people share their joy in getting a Unicron.

Two things might be happening here:
a) Two sellers are using formulas to update their listed price based on the current Amazon.com market price. Their software is reacting to each other's prices, leading to a ridiculous price war as previously explained in Gawker's story "Why Amazon Charged $23,698,655.93 for a Genetics Textbook"
b) Someone is hardcore trolling us.

Wow,only $10 in shipping fees for international orders. that so cheap. considering unicron is over 6 pounds & comes in a huge supreme sized TF box.
Shipping fees on ebay for unicron in a sealed box are easily over $15 dollars.
I'm from America so my shipping fees for amazon.com exclusive unicron would be free. I don't like the colors so,i'm passing on this toy.
I'm kinda wondering where amazon.com gets all this money to be so generous with free shipping fees. do they have business accounts with the post office or ups or fedex. because shipping business accounts they would get some great deal with their shipping of packages.
Either way you slice it,USA Buyers of amazon.com exclusive unicron are actually buying unicron for around $45 because their not paying the $15 in shipping fees. so their complete total is $60 with free shipping.
I wonder if amazon.com would go the extra mile & offer no tax on this exclusive unicron their selling.
I kinda wish I had the money to justify buying the Takara 2010 unicron as that's my all time favorite color scheme for this mold. my second favorite colors is the armada colors on unicron.
I just don't like the amazon.com exclusive unicron colors "for me" the colors seem very younger kid friendly. personally I want this toy to have collectors friendly colors.
I don't like the ocean blue all over this amazon.com unicron toy. because I view unicron as a evil metalic planet with a few organic parts. to have the ocean blue makes it seem like unicron have oceans on his planet surface. I kinda like to think unicron would have red lava oceans & not water oceans. I did notice in the 1986 TF movie, the inner liquids inside unicron were red color & seemed live lava oceans.

I've got a buddy who sells on Checkoutmycards.com. When he gets a card through the site that he doesn't want to sell or isn't ready to sell, but wants others to see he's got it he will jack the price to a ridiculous number. He figures no one will buy it so it is safe, but if someone is stupid enough oh well.
People will put it in their watch list and if he drops the price to something reasonable
it often will sell.
This guy may have wanted to get the word out, but may not have it in hand, or he's just playing mind games with buyers.

There would be some deal involved, but they'll be treating it as a promotional thing.
Three years ago most websites would offer free shipping if you spent over a certain amount of money, more and more i'm seeing are now offering free shipping regardless of what you spend. It's an incentive to get people to buy from them rather than their competitor.
Simple marketting ploy.
