Wahahahahaha
That's why he can have a solid robot mode all the time.
Not complaining on that point.

The robot mode is awesome, so there.
That said, I actually kinda like his H tank mode. It's giving me some G1 Galvatron/Armada Megatron vibes.

... a poor man's blue Prime?
Well, there was his original PRID Voyager:

WTF Magnus, someones stolen your paint. I can just imagine his instruction sheet now...
1. Open box
2. Remove the forge
3. Throw the rest in the trash
Not a patch on the PRiD version IMO.

The PRID Voyager already had horrible blue... and now this is lighter than allspark blue. It's just ...
The cyberverse Magnus has the best shade of blue IMO.
Shockwave does not look too bad... Except for crab mode.

Also I was wshing that the the blue autobot sigil was a Wrecker sigil, now all hopes are gone.

He isn't, his instructions are already in the hasbro database and there is not partsforming.

This.
And Shockwave's h tank mode... if there were some way to retool his arm cannon, I could see it as being TransTech Megatron.

Ultra Magnus.....skip... I'll keep the first version of him from this line. At least it was a unique mold. Although I find this ones hammer superior, I'm not spending 23+ dollars on a hammer.

I really wish Hasbro would just give Shockwave some kind of speed boat mode so he could look like SOMETHING while keeping this bad ass robot mode.
Posted by DecepticonFinishline on February 24th, 2013 @ 9:49am CST
I love Shockwave all the time, and I'm thrilled that we're getting a Shockwave figure, but I DO wish that for once he would have a proper 'earth-vehicle' mode.
All-in-all, with Wheeljack's new armor, and all the Predacons, I'm pretty pleased with this line. The one thing that would make it perfect is a Breakdown with removable armor. I don care if he's dead, we are getting a Dreadwing after all.

That mutant crab/tank mode is so ridiculous it's kind of awesome.
UM going from a unique mold to blue retool of OP is a massive step down.

He has one, it's formed by the tank treads, it's just not shown in these pics for whatever reason.

In honesty I prefer FOC shockwave, but I will get this one nonetheless. He'll be my first shockwave ever.

Shockwave's future acquisition is only logical, unification with other Shockwaves is mandatory.

Affirmative. Skyquake/Dreadwing no longer necessary.

Also, seems I'm part of the group that wants all 3 versions of Magnus (Platinum being the 3rd). I love that we're gatting a new voyager, but I must ask, why his shoulders hurt?

I don't understand Hasbro one bit.
They cut Breakdown out (and don't listen to their excuses or "reasons" why, it's bull), they make TWO versions of all the major players (First Edition, then PRID), and now they're doing it again.
Optimus, I get. He's going to be redesigned in the show, he's THE major character, okay. A new Bulkhead and Starscream as well? That's the 3rd mold for those characters, so far. In the same toyline. (I don't care if it's considered a subline or has a tagline or whatever, it's all Prime.)
Hasbro wants to save money, cut costs, etc. Well, uh...doing things this way? Waste. An absolute waste.
I just don't get it. WTH?
Posted by craggy on February 24th, 2013 @ 4:27pm CST
I don't think many of the characters in the show will end up looking like their revamped BH toy designs anyway (Prime seems likely, but dunno about the rest that aren't new) but I suppose Hasbro reckons a new toy with a name kids are already familiar with will sell better than one with a brand new name (like Autobot RoadBuster for Double-BH for example) so have kept the new toys designs vaguely familiar as well.

That's my point.

If Ultra Magnus shows up in season 3, giving him his own CGI model would mean more money to spend when it could go to another new character. Recoloring and modifying the old Optimus model for Ultra Magnus doesn't stretch their budget to infinity and beyond, and they can give us another character.

With the excetion of RID, Animated, Energon and PRID, Ultra Magnus has ALWAYS been a repaint/retool of an existing Prime mold.
Why start complaining now?

I'm not complaining about Magnus, specifically. I'm complaining about the need to make multiples when they needn't do so.

Becuase there IS a need to do so.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks so.
I do really like the look of the PRID version, and I do prefer owning unique molds where possible, but I never bought PRID Prime as I have the FE one, so despite being similar, this version of Magnus will still be a unique mold for my collection.
Add to that the fact that his hammer is much improved, he has TWO shoulder missiles instead of one wrist one, and his chest plate is very G1-esque, and I am sold on the BH version.
Also... with the sole exception of various Megatrons (DOTM, PRID) I have hated every single mechtech/powerizer weapon as I find them ugly and distracting... and PRID Magnus' Hammer/Gun is no exception.
Now, what will really make this BH Magnus figure for me is if the wing assembly is removable, so I can put that aside and do a mod to shorten the "PRID Prime Cape".

No matter how hard I try I can't help but see Magnus as a step backwards given what we got in the RiD line. It just ain't right.

I still can't help but feel this is what they should have done to begin with. I still say PRiD Magnus is awkward at best. Those shoulder struts look awful! I even like the gunhammer, but his gigantic arms being attached to his body by TIIIINY little struts? Who thought that was a good idea!?
Posted by Autobot Strider on February 28th, 2013 @ 8:58am CST
Now I absolutely want this figure!
