Anyway, I'll admit to being more excited if somehow they could make Blaster's bomb transform into a lion or a rhino....

I say, Told You So!!!!
See we care that they where siminal alts with different transformations, Hasbro doesn't though.
This is a huge part of why, awesome as he'd be, I never want to see MP-SoundWave, cause Takara is starting to get just as bad
Oh and I'm holding off on PowerGlide, just cause I'm sure we'll get a red redeco. As of now, he looks good, but more like that white repaint he had, what was it called, Bad Boy or something like that. Can't help but wonder though if Ratchet wants his color scheme back?
Posted by City Commander on February 16th, 2008 @ 1:27pm CST
I don't know if I can get used to that...
Posted by Primus C-00 on February 16th, 2008 @ 1:28pm CST
The other's look sexy as held.
Posted by Pot Bot on February 16th, 2008 @ 1:30pm CST
Tbh this being a repaint doesnt bother me much as ive never seen the soundwave version of it so it'll always be a blaster to me, and he's got a whole new look, so mayber a new head wont be that bad. I hope this isnt going to be how all blaster/soundwaves are from now on though. and i believe i told you i doubt it would happen, so i apolagise to you now bud

and they could have given Blaster a new head at least.
No not happy, won't be buying the repaints from a different line.
Posted by Skowl on February 16th, 2008 @ 1:34pm CST
Octane and Onslaught are beautiful.
The other three are... kind of... well, plain. Sunstreaker and Prowl are decent, but I can't help but think I've seen these same toys before... many, many times. And...
Powerglide ugly = plane ugly = just plain ugly

Meh. If there is a new critter with Blaster... maybe.
Call me crazy (braces) but I wasn't so into Jetfire from the last set of classics, so I didn't pick him up. I think the same might be for Powerglide. He just doesn't feel the same as the others to me. I like it when the big bots are really meant to be big guys- closer to what our swat man is like- but he was never a favorite character.
I'd much prefer a larger sized Grimlock, or some beast bot. A Predacon maybe. Big critters, and little carbots for them to eat.
Oh well, all the others are a definite.
Bring on pics of Masterpiece Grimlock!

Heavy Load looks pretty good, actually. I missed out on Quick Mix, which I regret immensely as I loved the quirky Scottish cement truck, so I'll definately get him.

As for blaster, as ive just said in the ODB thread, i think if hasbro does pay any attention to fans, they will realise how much love there is for blaster out there (he is by FAR my favourite) and i think they will soon realise they can afford to make blaster his own mold
Posted by UltraPrimal on February 16th, 2008 @ 2:02pm CST
Who is Heavy Load supposed to be? He's not G1.

So its a good compromise still 5 new molds and 2 repaints in the first wave.
So who is Heavy Duty supposed to be a homage of?

I'm not sure that he is, but you could say he a G2 Mixmaster, but his coloring reminds me a lot of Micromaster Erector.

Wait, wasn’t there a GIJoe named Heavy Duty? And wasn’t he supposed to be in that movie they’re making…

The TF is called Heavy LOAD, not Heavy DUTY, mates!

Actually, the description before the pics in the link calls him Heavy Duty...
Can't decide which is better: having a LOAD...or having some DUTY.
Hmmm...

Sorry, then! I just assumed the News story's title got the character's name right.

Hell, even the head is more like Blaster.

I was a little confused when I read the description in the link...maybe someone should change the name in the news announcement/thread?

Being a cement truck, it could've possibly been an homage to micromaster Take Down- and they might not have been able to get a copyright on that name. Then again, the colors are nothing like Take Down so I'm probably wrong.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_Load could be this guy too.

Then again Hasbro is known for stranger things.
As for Blaster.. I cannot believe it, its juts incredibly Ironic.
When the Soundwave Mold first saw the light of day, everyone was like, "Way cool", "I wonder if they'll make a Blaster repaint". Kitbashers were repainting Soundwave into Blaster left and right.
Everybody was like OMG Hasbro should do this.
And now that Hasbro finally does it, then its sucks?
Yes I agree the head should have been changed.
But if his transformable bomb/partner turns out to be a lion or something cool like that, then its going to be a good Repaint.
Its weird how the fandom changes towards a mold.

Like the positivity, although i gotta say, like everyone else, i'm pretty dissappointed. When I first saw the news (before it said repaint) I was like ZOMG classics blaster, which meant there was a possibilty for a real classics soundwave too. guess not. oh well, it's still a possible purchase

I was hoping for a serious remould of the Titanium Soundwave, without diecast nor diaper. But hey, that's just me.

Yeah, but those repaints are true to the characters.
Regardless, enjoy your figure.

Granted, since Hasbro couldn't be bothered to give Blaster his own head, then the bomb is probably just a repaint of Lazerbeak, even though Blaster never had any flying minions, as far as I can remember.
However, I still like Blaster. He's NOT Blaster, though, so I'll just call him something else. If anyone has an idea of what I could call a black, gray, and red Autobot plane, PM me.
I love all of the new molds, and I'm getting every one. I even like Powerglide. Yes, white and red kinda look funky on him in bot mode, but he looks *AWESOME* in jet mode. Love him!
The only one I won't be getting is the Quickmix repaint, Heavy Duty. Not feeling him at all. There were a lot of awesome molds in the Cybertron line, so you would think they could have found someone better than Quickmix to repaint. I remember Quickmix being a shelfwarmer when he was released the first time, so I doubt he'll do much better as Heavy Load.
Still, 6 out of 7 really is not bad.

Hey, Overcracker, can you point me to some of those Soundwave-kitbashed-into-Blaster pics? I never saw any. Thanks.

Still though, the general idea of Blaster coming back is at least really cool, but why couldn't they just give him a new head? Would have made so much of a difference...
