Box Images of Takara Tomy Transformers Encore God Fire Convoy

Sweet nearly identical to the original box was worried about that but not anymore.

That price point, it really hurts. And I really want to get this. Just not at that price.

This is great for anyone that doesn't have these figures already. But, if you have the original, that price is a real deal breaker, sword or not.

I have the original releases of them, so I don't really need this, but I will be honest, I was never able to figure out the instructions for combining them.

I was lucky enough to stumble upon Car Robots at an import shop a good year before they were released domestically, and I still have a lot of the OG Takara packaging. It's super cool that they stuck with the original package design for this release. Really gives it a nice throwback feel.

Good to know they are staying true to the line. I hope that means they have other plans for it.

I would love to own this (That non-chrome chest on Prime is great IMO, and I'd love to have the sword) but that price...It'd be cheaper to go buy the originals.

Bought the original Super Fire Convoy and God Magnus from an importer back around 1999 or 2000; and if I recall correctly paid about $50 for each or for you math majors $100 total, which accounting for inflation over the past 18 years would put the value of a dollar at $1.50 today. $100 extra for a sword seems a little steep.

I wonder what happened to those March delays we were hearing about? A lot of people got notices about March Transformers delays (I did not), and yet it seems like everything is shipping on time. Not worried about, I'm looking forward to this coming next week.

If encore is still going I would rather the older harder to get G1 japanese figure such as Overlord, Grandus, Dia Atlas, and Metrotitan.

A number of Hong Kong based Transformers fans, meeting up in the Hobbymizer discussion group on Facebook, have been sharing in-package and in-bubble images of the latest Encore release from Takara Tomy Transformers, showing off one of arguably the best engineered combining toys of the franchise, hailing back from the 2000s: God Fire Convoy / Omega Prime!

Where's the one that's supposed to be with it?

I know the original sword was a partial remold of the G1 Jap Fort/Grand Max sword with a different hilt. It looks like the hilt designed for the Fort/Grand/brave Max (G1) is included with this set so I wonder if the hilt is able to be swapped now to use the sword on both figures.

Makes me wonder if it's possible they're planning a Brave Maximus reissue.

The original God Fire Convoy 2-pack that came with the Super God Sword originally included both the new hilt for God Fire Convoy and the original Fort Max hilt, so this could just be following in suit with that original release's inclusion of both hilts.

Only the out-of-package pics are of the old Hasbro version. The rest of the in-package pics are of the Encore.

I find it funny that most pictures I see of the combined figure, has the waist transformed incorrectly.

Alfes2010 has updated their twitter with images of the Encore God Fore Convoy set.

As you can see from these imags, the colours are different. The colours are bold and the chrome has been removed.
The recordings featured in this toy is all new. These are from the original voice cast, Satoshi Hashimoto (Fire Convoy) and Takashi Matsuyama (God Magnus). There are far more sounds in this release than the previous one, over 40. New battle sounds will be activated as the robot is combined. For more info on the sound clips, you can click here.

Alfes states that, as with the original, the upper body heavy, especially with the battery inserted. Regarding, the Super God Sword, Alfes states the handle part becomes is made of harder material, and the disassembly & assembly is very easy to do. It being such a huge sword is really helpful for poses (so they say).

Hopefully I'll have mine next week. First I need to fix my PayPal account after my bank told them my account was closed. Probably I'll just add my debit card in the meantime.

God Magnus never had on the sides, nor did Fire Convoy: they were added for the RiD Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus releases. In fact, the most common difference between Car Robot and RiD toys is just that.

Was the original Fire Convoy really that... yellow? Possible sun bleaching aside...

I'm even one of the rare people who loves chrome, so I was pretty let down to see the shiny loveliness removed for this reissue. But seeing the finished product... it looks damn good. It's more uniform, polished even. And Prime and Magnus have strikingly yellow eyes, so handsome. I'm pretty psyched for this now.

It wasn't that badly yellowed, but it was admittedly a light creamish white.

Even if the original is off-white, this is a definite improvement. All around.

I've heard about mass reports from Japanese fans of misassembly, warped parts and general QC nightmares. That's kinda dampened my happiness for this. I still kinda want it, but not for the obscene price they're going for.

A lot of fans have been excited about the latest encore reissue from Takara Tomy Transformers, of the combining and parts forming two-figure set from Car Robots / Robots in Disguise - God Fire Convoy, or Omega Prime to Anglophone audiences.

However, there seem to be more issues than previously thought with the release of the Fire Convoy and God Magnus brothers, according to a number of reports and seemingly confirmed by a post on the Taiwanese Facebook group TFCN - though the news seems to clash with the actual release of the figure, that has already happened - the figure will be recalled due to quality issues and general not very goodness.

While we wait from an official communication of sorts, let us know what you think of this news. Do you have the figure in hand? Can you confirm the reports? Is your figure also not up to standard for a new toy?

Yikes, for an expensive collectors' oriented reissue to have quality issues, I wouldn't think that would be worth my money at all...

Oh dear. I sincerely hope they're gonna fix the problems and release it again (hopefully for a lower price). That sounds really, really bad.

to my knowledge there were no QC issues with release of Dinosaurer. Though some suspect that because they released it after Hasbro, it allowed time to make the fixes. Unfortunately I don't think Hasbro has the resources or seems to care about QC as much.

This is interesting though...as we see the product variance between and diminish and become more unified, it's nice to see that still will not let something pass that likely would not even give a second thought too. Unfortunately however, with operations moving to India, I expect things only to get worse, not better. It's sad that greed and the desire solely to make money may drive this line to at some point be indistinguishable from KO toys made and sold for a fraction of the price.

This was probably my most anticipated figure(s) of the year. I've got three of the original RID Primes and a Magnus, the Sam's Club Prime and Magnus, the Both pairs of Spy Changers Prime and Magnus, and Titanium Prime (and "Hot Zone"). So I've been looking forward to adding this guy to my collection. He's in the mail, already running late despite EMS shipping, and I'm looking forward to having him in hand, but this is a little discouraging.

I did just read on TFWiki that the issue is with the ankles not allowing his truck mode to tab properly, if that's all it is I can probably live with it.

Just to clarify, the original molds have intrinsic issues that may not have been fixed in the reissue. Issues that come from the way the combination works, and how Prime handles the added weight.

i.e Prime's waist ratchet is simply too weak to hold up the waist for the combined mode, and it tends to collapse backwards if not correctly setup.

Also the ratchets in Prime's hips were not the strongest and had a tendency to buckle under the wait of the combined mode causing the combined mode to do the splits.

Basically, the combined mode was quite unstable always.

Unless there's some really bad degradation of the molds, I'm willing to bet this is just the standard issues the combined mode had and went unchecked.

Last I checked the issues were mainly on Fire Convoy having parts warped and his hips so restrictive that the cab transformation is virtually impossible.

Just watched the video from the facebook post. (Youtube's auto translation of CC, is hilarious).

The video in the Facebook post points out some flashing in the foot / roof hinge on Fire Convoy, and an issue with the thigh ratchets, where the right thigh has the click further apart than the left thigh.

Also mentions sounds swapped for the different gun modes on Magnus.

Other issues mentioned there come from the original figure, like the roof panel not sitting flush with the rest of the roof on Magnus. That was due to how the combined mode head is stored there. Mine still has that issue unless the antennae are stored correctly in there, but that causes the chrome to chip for some reason.

Yeah, I can see where the issue is caused by the feet.



The roof of the truck cab is a bit uneven and the seam between the windows don't come together completely causing a gap at the top. It isn't great, but it doesn't ruin the figure completely for me.

I think another issue with the set was the toy was designed during a time where a higher quality plastic was used. Has/Tak has been using a lower grade plastic for years that something like God Fire Convoy just can't handle.

Yes, it does, I have that set. It also didn't help the instructions weren't clear on how extended Optimus' legs have to be for combined mode.

You mean his waist? Legs don't actually extend. They just plug into the Magnus boots.

The waist should be at the middle notch, so Prime's head is hidden, but the crotch piece (from Magnus's chest) matches up with Prime's crotch. In other words not fully extended. Just enough so Prime's head does not block the Magnus torso piece from sitting flush with the shoulders.
