The paper is an an order sheet. Cujo located the Devastator 5 pack on the above sheet. It looks like the set will cost $30.00 and is a "featured item for week 10". Currently Wal-Marts are at week 8. So Devestator should be poping up in stores relatively soon so keep your eyes open!

This would be good news for me, but I'm in Canada and Canadian Wal-marts get the short end of the hockey stick for exclusives.

I was sold at $20.00, but $30.00? I don't know. I'll have to seriously rethink this one for sure.

Maldroth wrote:about time and at a $30 price point not shabby at all for even just a repaint.
Ah soon the Classics collection will be complete.
I don't mind paying $30 either. I've just got done paying that for the TRU Exclusive Soundwave on the 10th. Payed $32.40 actually, but that's just 29.99 + 2.41 in local sales tax. Besides that you're buying 5 figures (Even if each limb mold is used twice).
Only reason I didn't get Mirage and Jetfire (the only non-repaint/retool/mini-con figures I don't have yet) that day is that I noticed TRU over-charges for those figures the way Kay-Bee does. I would have been paying the same for Jetfire that I did for Soundwave, so I passed. I don't mind 32.40 for exclusives because with few exceptions you can't get them anywhere else (hence the exclusiveness), but for figures I know for a fact I can save $10 on when I buy it with my Devastator set? I would have had to have been really fraking desperate to get Jetfire to pay an extra $10 for it. Or maybe willing to buy it from hasbrotoyshop.com (I can't remember what they charge for shipping & handling).

At $20, that would only be $4 a figure. $30 is still a steal. You're basically buying the 4 basic figures and getting the deluxe figure for free almost.

Not everyone agrees with your opinion obviously. I happen to like that combiner and all his separate figures very much. Moreso than any of the other Energon combiners. I also happen to really like the fact that the set is in the colors I originally wanted for these guys. If you don't like it, don't get it. Why waste the energy in complaining. Here's the facts, repaints are where the easy money lies and Hasbro certainly want to make money and profit from the brand. Don't like that? Well, too bad. It's happening anyway and people are gonna buy it.

And on a seperate note, what will those do that hate repaints, when the movie toys are released? You know damned well that everyone of those will be repainted at least 5 times for every new TF line after the movie.

Hahaha, it's funny cuz' it's true.
I can see where Sparkofchaos is coming from, you know, stop the monster in its tracks. That would be fine and dandy if Hasbro depended on collectors for their profits, but alas they don't. Near all of their funds are driven from parents with eager kids. While it would be nice to see fewer repaints, boycotting a few would solve the problem...give in...

I would have been sold at 40 had it been a completely new mold as the rest of the Classics were. At the moment, I reserve further comment.

You are correct sir, that indeed is the Devastator everyone is talking about. He may only be a five part gestalt, but an amazing one none the less. Plus for the price, it's really a steal. I for one think it's a great figure. Well implemented transformations, very orignal, great combiner mode, and very articulate. It's leaps and bounds better then G1 Devastator and well worth the $30, especially to those who weren't around for Energon. I just hope others on the boards aren't discouraged by others who think it's a waste of time and money. Everyone, including you and TENIME_art are entitled to your own opinions but I for one wouldn't sell the figure short just yet.
Posted by Maldroth on March 21st, 2007 @ 10:18am CDT
I'm in the category that Down Shift is talking about where I wasn't around for Energon and I like this coloring better than the Maximus version. I'll gladly waste $30 on this repaint and my excuse will be not to pass up a good deal simply because it isn't a 100% G1 accurate Devastator, let's face it, doubt we'll ever see them get spot on close anymore with the old designs and names.

I see what he's done, assuming JelZe meant,"Hw many train transformers were there in the US that were combiners and not standalone figures?", which is how I've read it.
By typing "let alone train transformers", JelZe GoldRabbit has implied there were no train transformers in the US, period. This is why Cujo commented on Astrotrain and emboldened the aforementioned clause.
If JelZe had intended to refer solely to train combiners, as you pointed out, then he had no need to say "let alone train transformers". Cujo was right to comment given the way JelZe phrased his post.

I agree with the too many Landfill repaints, but I just didn't like Landfill much at all. The Universe Devastator was ok, I really like the colors on it. Repaints can be fine, I suppose it depends on if you like the original figure or if the repainted one catches your eye more than the original.
My fav Energon combiner was Bruticus, but Constructicon Max was in second place. I for one look forward to Classics Devastator, and if I didn't like it, I probably just wouldn't buy it.
However, I am excited.
