X, that's the price converted from British pounds. Such prices are standard fare in Europe actually and unfortunately. And if you must know, Smyths is a rather large chain of toy stores found throughout the UK and Ireland.

As JelZe stated that's just the conversion rate to US dollars. £23 is actually quite reasonable over here as TRU sell their voyagers at closer to £25. And Smyth's is probably our second largest toy store after TRU.

also you've gotta take into consideration the avg wage/cost of living varies from place to place. For example, even taking exchange rates into account, the min wage where I am in AUs is at least double what I've seen in some places in the U.S., but then so is the price of certain goods, so it all balances out (mostly) in the end. Also, unlike the US, Aus/Uk and many other places include any taxes in the price.JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:Rated X wrote:36 bucks for a voyager ? Actually, it's a bit less than this:
- it's about US$34 for a Deluxe (Either AoE or the Generations Armada Starscream, Minion team, Skywarp, Scoop. Older lines were a bit cheaper)
- About US$60 for a Voyager (Age of Extinction only; The generations Sandstorm, Doubledealer and Rhinox along with Beast Hunters Voyagers were at about US$53)
- and about US$114 for a Leader (AoE Leader Optimus, Grimlock and Generations Jetfire; same value for Leaders since DoTM and including Beast Fire Predaking)
Yeah, still pretty expensive...

At my local Wal*Mart, they ran out of shelf space (there are a ton of Voyagers, both AoE and Generations, all old of course) so they put those sticker hang tags on the Leader boxes and hung them from the pegs. (No joke!)
First and only time I had ever seen it.

I just saw the same thing at a Wal-Mart tonight!
AOE Leader Prime hanging on a peg.
My 1st reaction to the CWs on a peg was...
Awe Oh, are they smaller than we think?

I worry about that, too, but pictorials seem to indicate they're either the same size as other Voyagers or even slightly bigger. I'm assuming they're quite hollowed out, but they seem to have some size on them. I've heard they're a slight bit taller than FP's Colossus/Bruticus. If that's true, that's awesome, because MakeToys Giant and FP's Intimidator is larger than Bruticus is and I'd like them all to be in the same, or close, scale.
FP's Superion is still the shrimp of the group. I'll never be able to get any money out of that set, either, now that Hasbro's is coming.

At the top of the news story the article says this:
Searchlight has spotted and purchased Voyager Silverbolt at Smyths for £22.99 (about US$36) in the UK.
Am I the only one that caught the conversion to US dollars listed in the article ?
Anyways, a voyager costs anywhere between $22-26 dollars including tax here in Miami, Florida at Walmart or Target. At TRU it might be a couple bucks more.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a Skywarp Legends in the not-too-distant future. I'm not keen on Blackjack, think it makes the chest look too wide, but the V shape of the jet works well. Acid Storm might not look too bad.
Skywarp... hm... You know if the point of the 'armor' Transformers were to add that individual's 'outlier' powers to the larger gestalt, Skywarp boosting Menasor would have to be one of the most terrifying combinations you could come up with.

They weren't hanging from pegs, rather they were sitting on top of pegs instead. Size wise he is currently standing shoulder-to-shoulder with my generations Sandstorm.
Have to say he is a good quality figure with excellent poseability, good solid joints and an easy yet satisfying transformation. The only negatives are that in jet mode there is a lot of undercarriage robot kibble and his gun is rather large, however these are definitely out weighed by the positives. You even geta trading card with art work that looks like that from the DeNA game.
Sorry, I would've posted more pics but my laptop is broken and doing the last lot by mobile phone only nearly gave me a minor aneurysm

Ironhide
As we all know by now, these listings are liable to change at any given moment, or Hasbro might be using them as placeholder names, so for the time being, take this with a grain of salt. If this holds true, we have an awesome 2015 ahead of us!

Yeah, that is what the article says. It's (pretty much) regular UK retail price for a Voyager figure over here.

The last four are new, while the Protectobot ones all happen to match up quite nicely with the previous rumor about them. How about that.

Seeing Prowl's off-road vehicle mode in the comics, I was struck how similar the mode is to OFFROAD, the new member of the Stunticons. Maybe we'll see Offroad re-tooled as Prowl? But I don't how they'd convert a limb from one Gestalt to form the head/chest of another.

However I don't want a homage to one episode of the G1 toon in the main line, taking up the place of something else so I'm hoping it's a wal*mart exclusive.
Protectobots I'm still not going to hold my breath till I see the actual toys (which I'm hoping will be soon)
Would it be asking too much for them to do Piranhacon? (Looked at his toy on ebay, fell in love again)

Well, Prowl would probably be intended for a Devastator, so maybe he's just doing double duty.
Sunstreaker, maybe they wanted to avoid too many red Autobots with Sideswipe.
Ironhide works better from Offroad than other bots (and they already have that Legends Windcharger).

I hate being late to the party. Only recently started reading the IDW ongoings. Trying to avoid spoilers, but I'm guessing I've just stumbled across a spoiler here. Oh well, not too bothered since a) it sounds like a stupid idea in the first place, and b) these comics have been out for ages so it's kind of inevitable.
Nonetheless, back to the CW news. Ironhide as a deluxe disappoints me. I want a good Voyager sized figure of him. Hopefully, if he's really good he can replace the Classics one though. I don't dislike the Classics one, but it has its flaws.

"Of all the circuit glitched, diode blowin' dimwittery! YOU LEFT A PIECE OUT!"
And that's exactly what they would get from everyone putting only 5 figures in a 6 bot team.
I'm fine with their new choices for figures even if they are repaints and I will probably pick all of them up since I will for sure get the new Optimus. I missed out on snagging Generations Ironhide and Sunstreaker anyhow so these may serve as placeholders until I get them or even full-on replacements depending on how much I like their look.

Yeah, I agree: neither CW Prime or Silverbolt are on the Smyths website. Seems like someone made a mistake releasing them too early, one we're all too happy to capitalise on! I'll have to keep an eye out to see if they accidentally release any of the CW Deluxes early...

What if Ironhide and Prowl are actually homages to their Energon selves, and are brand-spanking-new molds that aren't redecoes of the Stunticons? I know, it's literally one of the dumbest things I'm pretty sure I've ever suggested, but I couldn't help myself.

I think an IDW-style Prowl as a retool of the Stunticon Offroad would make more sense to avoid being too similar to Streetwise. Which means they can't also make Ironhide a retool of Offroad as well, so I'm hoping he shares a new mold with First Aid.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised to see an Offroad re-tool for Prowl too, due to the fact that him and Streetwise would be too similar, as you've said. I'm sure Ironhide will be a First Aid retool, that way him, Prowl, Sunstreaker and Mirage will combine with Prime to be an Autobot combiner.
I'm interested to see what they do with Hot Spot. It's got to be a new mould, surely.
