Regular artist and source of behind the scenes looks at a lot of toys and media Emiliano Santalucia, has shared on his Facebook page his early presentation sketches for Transformers Power of the Primes leader class Rodimus Prime! As noted by Santalucia himself, these were early concepts to showcase the idea of how the Matrix, evolution, and Prime Master gimmicks would work, not a design.

You can check them out below, as we've mirrored the coloured art of the full vehicle mode, and the Hot Rod and Rodimus Prime ideas in a fairly chunky rendition of the character. What do you think of the process from this early version to the toy we eventually got? Let us know in the Energon Pub discussion forum!

Hasbro AU said PotP would hit Australia mid-January. Guess that only applied to small independent stores.

At this rate I will end up importing from Japan. Shop local they say ... bah.

They can.

The Prime Masters (and by extension Titan Masters), Enigmas and Matrix Cores all have the same basic shape, so they can be endlessly swapped out. Spots for them are the:

- Legends Class cockpits
- Deluxe Class Hand Armor
- Voyager Class Foot Armor and Enigma cavity (Grimlock's mouth, Starscream's cockpit)

I also didn't know about the legends thing either so I'm guessing that Slash has this compatability as well.

Would be really cool if the next titan after predaking was a new Primus which had spaces for all 13 prime masters.

It's 12 confirmed Prime symbols, but let's not forget that Hasbro let 3 additional symbols slip in store display advertising. The display features Primal so it probably wasn't meant to be used so early in the line and the 3 new symbols will probably be explained later (Toy Fair? SDCC?). The last symbol is obviously meant to represent Optimus Prime (the 13th Prime), but I'm still sticking with my original theory that the other two belong to Primus and Unicron leaving me with hope that we are getting updated Titans of each sometime in the future.

Rodimus is clunky, but I like it better than Evolution Optimus. At least it gets the idea right with Hot Rod and his car alt mode and Rodimus and his alt mode. The only thing missing is the battle station (though I have seen some workable able fan modes) but Rodimuss never used that in faction anyway.

Optimus is less satisfying. Both robot modes are alright but the truck mode is terrible for no good reason (they really couldn't hide those arms better?) and the truck wouldn't be Orion Pax's alt mode anyway. They really should've figured out a way to get an Alt mode for Orion out of there too, but I think the whole thing was too much for their current budget.

Designwise it would have worked. Maybe it was too Titanium styled. And I really Love the double rearwheels.

That could've been a good way to go. I mean, we just has a G1 tractor trailer with Powermaster Prime, did we need another one (an not even a good one) the following year?

So, assuming the Monstructor/Dinoking is coming (based on the Cutthroat shown at NYCC having Wildfly's head), how do we think we will be getting them?

My bet is on them being a boxset. Does anyone think these will be a surprise wave 5/6 release?

Flip side, who thinks this will actually be a 4 wave series, and basically be done and switching over at years end?

I'm still wondering HOW we are going to get them. I mean Cutthroat to Wildfly is simple enough but the others will need a lot more remolding. Particularly the center bot. I'm assuming they'll remold Grimlock into somebody, the two headed Hun-Grr doesn't match up to any Monstercon.

There are certainly more than enough characters to do a full additional 3 waves (4-6) for PotP. But all we can do at this point is hope. If we see anything beyond what was leaked last year it wont be until SDCC 2018 (unless Hasbro has a couple one-off surprises for us).

I'v had that same thought. I hope there is going to be wave/s 5-6. It can be calculated by useing the Prime Masters wave 1 =3, wave2 =2, wave3=3, wave wave4=?

I'm sorry, but that's hideous. He looks like someone poured pea soup all over him. Slag, Snarl and Grimlock were solid colors in G2, and Swoop gets that? Perhaps it was for the best that he was never released.

I like your idea for a G2 recolor, but having grown up at the mid to end of G1 and recalling all the G2 popping up, it is definitely that radditude feel they tried to invoke with some of those colors

For the record as someone who was entering adulthood when G2 came out, At the time I was excited about getting the Dinobots because they retained their original look in the first releases. Sadly I did not get them quick enough, and when the funky recolors started coming out, I passed. I did get the combiners because I had always wanted them, and unfortunately there was no choice in colors (though later I did go back and manage get the original series versions).

He doesn't solve THE problem with the his shoulders as you might think according to the title of the video BUT what he does makes Rodimus Prime look way better, cooler and beefier :michaelbay:

Also star saber leader class figure as this gimmick seems perfect for him.

It definitely looks better, but that comes at the price of making the already bad shoulder/arm articulation even worse.

I do like how he left the terrible backpack opened at the bottom. It looks a little more like an open trench coat ala TLK Crosshairs, and less like a giant hollow rectangle.

By the way, I doubt that G2 Swoop would have happened even if they did have the Swoop mold. The other Dinobots had relatively simple color swaps changing the plastic colors but leaving the die cast and chrome parts untouched. Swoop came from the same line of thought that would have birthed the unused striped Grimlock. A real G2 Swoop would only have his forearms and lower legs changed while maintaining the red chest and chrome.

Magnum is a new character that only exist within Fun Publications' Wings Universe continuity, not the same G1 that PotP is based on.

Technically he's a corrupted Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime, so no, he isn't a new character, just a new take on the character. But even if he is, what does that have to do with a character that only Fun Publications created and only FunPub has used? Besides, Hasbro is currently content with the IDW version of the character who is his own guy, loooong dead and currently being portrayed by Minimus Ambus.

It has been confirmed that we are getting a Megatronus Prime Master.

His booster cards have been showing up since wave 1

Also, for others asking, I am certain there wont be a BW megatron leader toy in this line. We only got Primal due to a fan vote. We aint getting his rival yet.

Also, we will have more than 4 lines, confirmed by the fact that there are 12 prime masters to be released and since they wont put more than 3 different ones per wave, we end up needing at least 5 waves to complete all twelve based on what we know is already coming in waves 1-3.

In short:
POTP will not be shorter
There wont be a BW Megs
There will be a Prime Master Megatronus

Not getting a magnus, Warden said the only way to get those characters was if they would have won. They didnt win, they aint getting toys in this line.
