influence82 of tfw2005.com has made an interesting discovery. He has found a darker variant of ROTF Scout Scattorshot, which he purchased at a Target in Los Angeles. This is good news for many fans were turned off by the light-grey plastic. Is this a running change, or just some darker dyes used by accident? Only time will tell. Thanks to member Giant Purple Griffin for letting us know.
As he explains:
influence82 wrote:The serial number stamp on the back of the card for the lighter one is 93341 (Purchased at a Walmart) and the darker one has a serial number 93431 (Target). That number stamp is used by Hasbro to track when and where a particular toy was made (answered by Hasbro in an earlier Q & A session). The darker one looks more like the enhanced image on the cardback, so I guess that it is more accurate, or they just ran out of the lighter plastic.

Where abouts in Canada are you? In Quebec and Ontario we've just started seeing Scattorshot, Skystalker and Divebomb.

I agree, first Sideways, then Breakaway, and now Scattorshot? This can't be coincidence. What is going on?

Hasbro listening to fan 'concerns', perhaps.

What "concerns"? Sideways was just fine in his light silver, now I'll be forced to have both variants.

I actually live in Ontario. Sorry though, I guess I was unclear, I meant to say that I hoped that this variant shows up in stores, not the regular one because I have seen them in stores as well.

No one's forcing you to buy them both. (I'm kidding, I know, some people want them all)
Well, I know people did complain about the colors on Breakaway and Scattorshot. Seems like a lot of coincidence that Hasbro made a running change to 2 out of 3 figures people complained about.
I suppose it could just be that they weren't happy with how the first run turned out, but it shows improvement on their part that they fixed it.

Seems to me Kirbenvost, that you don't know our good friend JelZe very well. He walks around with a gun to his head all the damn time just to combat the argument that "no one is forcing him to but them both"
Someone is... someone is indeed...

On topic, IMHO I think he looks better in the darker tint. But would grab both for the heck of it,.... if I could find it.

The problem is the Street Tuner Throwdown with Blowpipe, which has the darker variant while I want the lighter one to match his "brother" Sideswipe. And no, I wouldn't dare sell the double, he's still pegwarming in some stores I visit!
And it's a hammer I use, not a gun

kirbenvost wrote:lol, I see. I'd personally feel weird buying two of the exact same figure. Heck, I don't even get different versions of the same character most of the time. To each his own!
Trust me, it's something I'd never do unless there's a good reason. I've only done that once before with C-Undermine and GF Dino Shout to help out a friend

Well I meant that I consider variants still the same figure, so I wouldn't buy both versions.
