Let's see what happens.
There's not really much variety in semi trailers, though...at least not if they're realistic.

Indeed. This one looks far too much like the original trailer.

Speaking of trailers, why hasn't anyone come out with a mass production one for movie prime?

Good for you, but my pocketbook is telling me that Optimus Prime can be happy with one trailer this time. So it will be time to decide as we see these come along.

Very good for me actually All kiding aside, I would love to see even more trailers, flatbeds, tankers, whatever. When I was a kid I always wanted more trailer options for OP. I wish some one would produce a trailer for Leader Movie Prime. I know a lot of you guys prefer Prime to come trailerless, due to cost and storage when in bot mode, but I want every Prime to have a trailer.

Sure it's definitely nice to have to have something occupying Prime's backside after so many years of seeing Optimus with a trailer of sorts, but this instance just isn't any more worth it to me than seeing him turn into Mickey Mouse or Thomas the tank engine. But that my own opinion.
What part of your CC broke?

I would be into that. No reason why Prime needs to be restricted to one trailer.

I was thinking the same thing, lets hope it just doesn't force them to rush it to market. Hopefully they don't sacrifice any QC to get this thing into our hands faster.

It makes sense, most collectors who want a trailer for Classics/Henkei Prime will only get one trailer. If Fansproject let BTS sell out before bringing out their version, when it came to selling their trailer the customer base would be significantly smaller.

Don't jumped to conclusions yet. We haven't seen proper pictures yet.

That's because the mock-up is inaccurate.
G1 Prime didn't pull his trailer that closely to the cab...no semi does. Magus was the way it was because there ARE some care carriers that do that.

Yea, I think that is what I'm going to do.
Nemmy will get the "futuristic" trailer, and Optimus will get the standard trailer.

I beg to differ; not always:
I based my estimation of how Prime would pull the trailer on the position of the "side skirting" and rear wheels of the trailer; I don't see why it would be positioned and shaped as it is if it were not meant to almost meet the "ground effects" on the cab in the same fashion as the City Commander.
Do you have access to information that would suggest otherwise, or are you also "eyeballing" it?
There's a basic engineering problem with having an articulated trailer for the Classics Op mold; unless you have a connection point that's really far back on the cab (like on the BT trailer), the trailer hits the "knees" on the cab when you try to turn. The only other possibility is to make the trailer high enough up to clear the "knees", which would lead to it looking awkward as well. I wager that FansProject is not going to go either route.
It's quite possible that the attachment point may be slightly further back on the tractor than it is in my mock-up, but I'm going to guess it will turn slightly if at all.
Counterpunch wrote:Magus was the way it was because there ARE some care carriers that do that.
The City Commander trailer is NOT a car carrier, so I'm not sure that wil have any bearing on things.

As you'll note, above I said "not always". I provided examples that your statement did not always hold up.
(The last photo, btw, shows a truck that is NOT EVEN CONNECTED TO ITS TRAILER, but I digress.)
We're both engaging in speculation at this point, but there are certainly real-world examples that back up the cab's placement in my mock-up is possible... I'll refrain from a tit-for-tat image posting. (Though SHAME ON YOU for citing Energon Prime as evidence of anything except bad design.)
(One intersting note from looking at the toy photos you posted: G1 Prime's trailer is really out of step with reality; the connection point is way behind the strongest load-bearing point on the cab.)

Except on Energon Prime being bad design! He's the E.Honda of Prime Time!

Generation 2 Optimus Prime did have that weird ass sound box to fill in the gap on the trailer bed if ya didn't really like it. Granted, the hitch location still made it a bit weird on turns, but given the actual shape of the sound box there wasn't any restriction like on the city commander upgrade set. I'm thinking maybe if this is going to be a debatable subject they could probably install either multiple hitching points or a shifting one to give variety and freedom of choice to individual taste. That's what the sound box basicly was to me... well actualy it still is

nexus_rayne wrote:It's a shame that voyager movie prime doesnt have a hitching point, that trailer would look amazing on him, for the classic prime, I feel the styling of the bts trailer fits better. With how nice the commander sets fit with magnus/nemesis, im just surprised that fansproject didnt put in a little more style than just a box
It's pretty early to count it out just yet. I suspect the final piece will be more intricate and give us a lot of compelling reasons to consider buying it. They're just putting out these really early shots to keep people from buying the BTS one. I'm in wait-and-see mode at this point.

Looks like we were both sort of right Boss:
It's mounted a lot further up on the cab than the BTS trailer, but still allows partial articulation of the trailer. Looks like I underestimated how big this trailer is going to be a slight bit.
The Godbomber homage is pretty cool; it would be rad if they were also developing Powermaster/Apex armor for this mold....
