"Destron" in Katakana, "Decepticons" in Latin script.

I'm gonna geek out here.

In the Masterforce series a newspaper states that Decepticons have attacked on one page and Destrons attack on the other. The headline is in Latin script. I'd say that this is absolutely correct on Ehobby's behalf. The difference is (drumroll) canonical.

And I want this toy.

First Convoys and Optimus Primes, not Destrons and Decepticons. I'm loving this, but I think in this particular case it might just be them trying to appeal to the western fans knowing it'll be In the TFCC store.

This is the first time we've seen Unite Warriors packaging isn't it? I imagine we'll see the combiners in similar boxes. It's pretty great looking. Let's see if those boxes say both Cybertrons and Autobots on them and what they do with the individual bot names.

Given the past trend of Legends, they'll give the Japanese name in katakana, and the US name in Latin script. For the different names between US and Japan, it should look something like this:

ファイアボルト (Firebolt)
Fireflight

スリング (Sling)
Slingshot

エアライダー (Air Rider)
Air Raid

ドラッグストライプ (Drag Stripe)
Drag Strip

Actually, I bet since this is E-Hobby that this packaging will differ from "Warriors Unite" packaging. It's strikingly familiar with their previous batch, TF Cloud.

I wonder if they'll be that exact or if they'll go with Hasbro's new names. I'm thinking they'll stick with the originals, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Yeah, but this is supplementing an existing retail line, when they've done that in the past they've tried to use similar packaging. The combiners will probably have window boxes, but I think the overall design will be the same.

It seems E-Hobby Grand Scourge was on a showy display this weekend at Super Festival 68, where gikogakodo, SiuGui Mok, and Autobase Aichi snagged some pictures from! The figure is the evil take on Hasbro's Combiner Wars Voyager Oprimus Prime, and specifically a homage to Superlink Grand Scourge (Energon Optimus Prime) who was actually only available as a model kit (Pla-Kit Collection in 2004). Keep scrolling to see the pics, and keep your optics tuned to Seibertron.com for all your Transformers News, Galleries, and discussion!

Gotta admit it, that toy may be an expense I cant handle and should pass on but the deco is absolutely amazing! He seems worth the price of admission.

Further proof of this being the best-looking version of the CW Optimus mold.

Wonder what else was on display at Super Festival 68. :-?

Interesting good, or interesting bad? I can't remember if you previously said you were down for this figure or not.

Not good or bad, just is.

I'm down for this figure, and have a preorder with HLJ. The gold bothers me in the context of traditional Scourge/Nemesis decos, but not enough to motivate me to pass.

Also, Motormaster is one of my favorite molds from Combiner Wars. So I'm happy to own a black Prime version (still haven't gotten regular Prime yet).

I know. Not Black Convoy'ing up the actual Energon/Superlink Prime was such a wasted opportunity. #-o

megatronus wrote:So I'm happy to own a black Prime version (still haven't gotten regular Prime yet).
Good. Don't.
I have no issues with the mold (flaws and all) but the lack of paint apps and laaaazzzy Autobot stickers on the shoulders (Y U NO TAMPO?) left a pretty bad taste in my mouth. Though Reprolabels did a pretty good job of remedying his issues.

Sorry, that red sword looks really stupid. It's bigger than him. And the way it's shaped, it looks more like a small flag or banner on a pole than as sword.

Of course it's bigger than him, it was originally made for a bigger figure:

Even the smaller version ended up for a bigger-than-Voyager figure:

And in case you were wondering, it does resemble an actual shape of knife: a meat cleaver.

Which is why this toy is just so damn awesome. I love when weapons/accessories get swapped from different molds. I wish they did more of that to help differentiate mold usage.

That actually make me wonder: are the molds for the weapons completely separate from the main figure? In other words: when the weapons are cast, are there any other parts cast with it? Seems counterproductive, yet for exchanging it's perfect. I mean, look at:

- The MechTech weapons
- The Simplified Beast Hunter weapons being used for Movie Advanced
- The Weapon Giveaway promotions

With that, TakaraTomy is more able to do so for some reason... :-?

That is interesting. My favourite example was when Hasbro's Predaking got Optimus' Star Sabre. And I assumed he got it because he was being manufactured at a similar time as the one for Voyager BH Optimus.

I really shouldn't be thinking of dropping the kind of money this will cost, but it gets prettier every time I see it.

Any word yet on names for the combined form or the guns?

I like the red Matrix Breaker sword, it reminds me of RiD Scourge's sword of fury, only as a ginormous meat cleaver.

The guns are just called "Scourge Guns". The combined mode is yet to be named, however if they're gonna follow the names from the original kit, it'll most likely be called "Grand Scourge Hyper Mode", mirroring "Grand Convoy Super Mode".

Thanks.

...Well, that's boring.

If they go with that, I'm gonna pretend Grand Scourge is the combined mode and the individual robot is just Scourge. :P (I was considering "Nemesis Maximus", but it's way too much of a stretch.)

I don't care what molds they are, but I really hope that this guy gets limbs that look like they belong to him (deco-wise). Either matching his deco, or homaging the actual Grand Scourge components.

I don't disagree.

But what I wanna see is the CW Optimus mold redecoed in Grand Convoy colors, like this (ignore the limb-bots, the Optimus digibash is the main focus):

While I am loving the positivity, I am wondering if your enthusiasm is felt by others. I like Energon Optimus too but only got him for cheap because the market price on that toy is low due to the low demand. Has this toy become more liked as time goes on?

I honestly couldn't tell ya. I've always loved that Prime, it was like a posable Megazord! And people might be excited about this, cause there were lots of "wow that's Energon'y" type comments and they didn't seem like complaints.

I'm hoping that when Takara drops this mold as Prime (and not as an evil one) that he actually gets deco'd as that, rather than just a nicer version of Hasbro's.
Re: First look at Transformers E-Hobby exclusive Unite Warriors Grand Scourge packaging (1680109)
Posted by Sabrblade on April 27th, 2015 @ 11:03pm CDT
I always liked the Energon Prime mold. It just had some odd torso proportions for its standard robot mode.

Though, it was the mouthed Hasbro version I had gotten and that mouth always bugged me because it wasn't show-accurate. I was always jealous of the Takara version's mouthplate (and much nicer deco to boot). I waited for the mouthplated Hasbro version to come out, but it took forever for it to come to stores that I grew too impatient to wait for it any longer, and didn't see it in stores until long after having gotten my mouthed version.

Replace the jet with Nosecone, use the First Aid shell, and find a suitable replacement for the submarine, and you'll have my attention :)

I have the Energon Prime mold, the very first version but the paint is scratched off something fierce (probably during transport). I may get a new core body (with mouthplate) and take a hand in restoring/repainting the original.

You could probably make something work with the Stunticons, Offroad and Wildrider/Brake-Neck seem like they'd match well, though admittedly that's Combiner Wars rather than Unite Warriors I'm looking at. Then again, Unite Warriors only has four Stunticon limbs anyhow.

i got the hasbro version cos well basically i couldn't wait :D

This guy does look better and I would've got him instead as the white feet/hands look more in line with the original. And tho i don't mind alpha bravo would have preferred slingshot + the price diff was not that much of an issue with this guy, think would've cost me less than what I paid for the others.

I think the white backdrop with the white hands and feet and all the other white bits really help to sell the overall look. Fills it out a bit more. Still looks nice. I'll be glad to own it.
