That box makes me feel like I missed out. Why wasn't that pictured on the pre order page? Might have an impulse moment of I spot one at gamestop.

Anyway, I just thought of another one that Hasbro could very easily do since they already have the license. And it could just be a reshell with new back, car shoulders, lower legs, and head.
And package him in Beast Wars style packaging.

We could get the General Lee, but minus the Confederate flag. They've removed the flag on slot cars and some model sets and it's still recognizable as the General Lee with the big "01".
There were 3 shortlived motorcycle shows, M.A.N.T.I.S., Streethawk, and one I can't for the life of me remember the name of.
Would also like to see Baby from Supernatural.

They lost the licence after there JP toys failed... They where kinda crappy sadly. I love your Idea though.
I would love a crossover where Beast Wars style dinoformers fighting guys that turn into the different JP vehicles. Most of the dinoformers could be femmes! I doubt we'd ever get anything that cool even if they did still have the license. -_-

That's because it is. It's based off of the CW HotSpot mold.

Well, what do you know, they do share parts! Just the upper arms and legs though, the rest is all new tooling. Does that really make a figure a retool, or a part-recycler like Siege Chromia is?

Never even noticed. Hasbro/Kenner had the line for so long it didn't occur to me that someone else would have the license. Still, as long as Mattel doesn't randomly make a transforming JP tour car then a 1-off license is possible.

Personally, I would love for Baby (Supernatural), the General Lee (Dukes of Hazard), and KITT/KARR/GOLIATH (Knight Rider) get this treatment. This is fantastic.
Ya know, the A-Team Van would rock too, especially with a mohawk.

Streethawk was the one I was thinking about. I don't remember MANTIS having a bike. Pretty sure it was a flying car named the Chrysalis or something.
How about a female retool of Hound as Dixie, Daisy Dukes' Jeep?
The Bluesmobile
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
Speed Racer's Mark V
And because I'm a sucker for combiners, a combiner of all the Bat vehicles - Batwing, Batboat, Batcopter, and any of a dozen different Batmobiles.

I haven't seen that here at all, everyone in here has been naming vehicles to turn into new robots like Ectotron.
This has also made me think that we need a Scooby Doo/Ghostbusters crossover. They did it with Supernatural, so why not?
I think Baby might be my top pick for the next one of these too. That is a sweet car

Yeah, just a stupid ass product placement, why not use a G1 like someone else suggested?

Especially considering there is a G1 Prime sitting on shelves right now and Optimus is always 100% recognizable. Non fans might even think that's a fake toy.Cyber Bishop wrote:Yeah, just a stupid ass product placement, why not use a G1 like someone else suggested?william-james88 wrote:Carnivius_Prime wrote:eh, just as fake as everything else that tries to be 80s and retro I suppose. I've never heard of this show, but then again I haven't watched commercial TV in 10 or more years.

I also want to extend my congratulations to Johnny216, who designed this character based on Cybertron Red Alert way back in 2005:
As thrilled as I am to see this (I never did end up making a custom based on Johnny's art), I really don't like the black knees and excess amount of white on Ectotron. The 'Busters don't wear kneepads, only elbowpads (and they're grey, no less), and if they just wanted to evoke the white military belt of the 'Busting suits, they could've just painted Ectotron's belt area in white.
Also, anyone seen the robot mode's pack? He's supposed to have some kind of Proton Pack accessory, but it just looks like the rooftop equipment rack ends up there. Has it been sculpted to have a cyclotron, or do they mean he just comes with a neutrona wand?

But the point isn't for Transformers product placement, it's for this specific figure. Then they can turn around and when this figure shows up at Gamestop they can advertise it as "as seen on the Goldbergs!" if they choose. And really, any transformer could have been used, but using one that came totally out of left field like Ectotron is something that will get people searching for info, a figure people have seen a million times isn't going to do that. They may not know if it's real, but they're definitely going to want to see for themselves. It's good advertising for the whole franchise.

They addressed the Death of Optimus Prime in 1986 4 years ago and it’s not set in the 90s now.
In fact — and I’m not even a close follower of the show — I’m pretty sure that they cited deliberate anachronism as part of the show early on. They’ve referenced 80s events out of sequence, apparently intentionally. They’ve both indicated a desire to troll people about period accuracy and said that the show could go on for any length of time and still be set in the 80s.
A child could be conceived at the Ghostbusters premiere, grow up to watch Caddyshack in college, and die an old man at the premiere of Back to the Future.
It’s a fantasy universe where, effectively, it’s always been the 80s, will always be the 80s, things happen out of sequence, modern 80s nostalgia products (including t-shirts and toys) show up.
I don’t think this is sloppy. I do think it’s deliberate trolling on about three levels.

He features a Proton Pack like back with the equipment from the top of the Ecto-1 car mode, and he also includes an awesome green Slimer figure to go with him. He is currently up for pre-order at Hasbro Pulse for $49.99, and is due out at the end of July.

Fascinating to see he shares engineering with CW Voyager Hotspot. Had they gone the combiner route, they could have used Ecto 2 & 3 form the Real Ghostbusters animated series, and Ecto 4 & 5 from the comics.
