We have a gallery up with several images of all the new reveals from Hasbro's Breakfast Press Event, which featured the reveal of the Power of the Prime line. It seems to encompass several gimicks and evolving them.
The Power of the Primes gimmick features Prime Master mini-figures who embody power literally from the original 12 Primes - or 13, if you're a believer. The Skullgrin figure we saw in the Breakfast Press event sports the holofoil symbol of Liege Maximo, who recently returned in IDW's Transformers: Till All Are One, and include Decoy Suits, the new version of Pretender Shells, but in diminutive size (similar to the Titan Master vehicle drones).
Deluxes will also be able to house the Prime Masters, and Voyagers will be able to hold up to two each, with a 'special armour' of sorts that will fit on the figure, or the arms for the Voyager. The 13th Prime's spark is, as expected, the Matrix of Leadership - which each Leader class figure will have, each to their own style - giving a narrative support to Hot Rod becoming Rodimus Prime in the new fiction too and toyline too. And Optimus Primal, the winner of the fan poll, will have the same gimmick and transformation from Deluxe to Leader

Jazz's car form reminds me a lot of those Lego race car kits from a lil while ago. Not convinced.
The Pretender thing is nice but far too small for what I was hoping the gimmick to return as... Very disappointing.
Can't stop smirking at Darkwing's head. I know it looked a bit funny before but it just looks ridiculous now. Looked better in the comics.

Ooh! What if the bottom of Dreadwind's feet are the Combiner Wars slot, and the combined Mode shown is by flipping Darking's socket head out? That should be really stable, if Dreasssd's legs tab together tightly enough

I hope Dreadwind and Darkwing combine better than that, bad enough they're using CW molds again. I really hope something is up with Starscream because as it is, it looks terrible. Do we know if the deluxe Hot Rod comes with the armor or is it a separate figure?

No. It looks to me like his chest is the bottom of the Titan Master cockpit. The arms look like the slide down to give better sheep clearance. His waist might have the same collapsible thing going on that Wheelie had to elongate the vehicle mode. But I ask not. Seeing an actual gimmick. Just mechanics for transformation

So, my guess is that since the Jazz figure has a CW tab, he'll be inevitably repainted into an analog for CW Sideswipe. With a pseudo lambo it seems the obvious choice to me.

Looks like Rodimus is in fact 2 figures in one. Hot Rod, and the trailer / armor to turn him into Rodimus. which also appears to grant him a larger head. And the Hot Rod portion has to be part of the package otherwise you would just be getting a leader sized trailer.
Seems like the TR Hot rod just became a tad superfluous though.

Well, true in that's why I've decided to pretty much skip Legends Hot Rod, but I'm keeping my custom TR Hot Rod anyways cos he's my Marvel Hot Rod and anyways if you have both TR Hot Rod and PotP ROdimus you can have both displayed at same time as before/after Matrix? I dunno.

it returned as more than that, did you see that Rodimus. Its a mega pretender like Thunderwing. You have two transforming bots that combine together in vehicle mode and then in one mode (the robot mode) the smaller robot fits into the larger robot. thats the tru return of pretenders, with characters that werent pretenders before. it will be like that for all leader size class figures including Optimus Primal
Which must mean that Optimus Primal will be a deluxe gorilla and turn into leader Optimal Optimus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He's a leader. if anyone still wants a great voyager Rodimus, just get the MP, he scales perfectly.

Oh frick. That Rodimus is a Leader? Godammit Hasbro... I may as well take it off my damn list now. I so thought he was a voyager and was so ready to throw money at Hasbro for it.
And no the MP does NOT fit in well with regular line voyagers. He's far too simple and smooth like I mentioned earlier. And he's a bit too large to stand with Springer who should be bigger.

Rodimus looks impressive. Too big for my main collection, but nice. I'll put it in my Hot Rod display, which now doesn't have room for all my Hot Rods. I guess I don't need to track down that box set exclusive Rodimus head!

Now that we know how the Leader class works, I can't believe no one has started begging for Jallguar and Leozack as a leader that combines into the Liokaiser torso. Or, I wonder if this is how TT might bring out a Liokaiser.
Also, people keep mentioning Jazz has combiner ports, but I don't see it at all. The neck piece I think people are referencing doesn't necessarily show that. Can someone give definitive proof that he has a combiner port?

Voyager Starscream looks promising enough where he'd scale well with my other Decepticons in place of the Leader classes. Hopefully we'll get Thundercracker and Skywarp as well.

So Hot Rod now comes in three sizes. Wee, Not so wee, and fricking HUGE!

Well Nexus will probably be a special condition as he's a combiner and thus will probably be a gift set. Unless they decide to release a Voyager class that combines with Combiner Wars deluxes.
And if you're referring to the G1 versions, yeah, we don't know much about them. The Aligned continuity, however, has a lot of info on them.

Man! I'm so friggin' impressed by Darkwing and Dreadwind. Never did see later figures of them that could combine until now.
Rodimus Prime looks pretty cool too but I find the parts that connects that shoulders looks similar Energon Rodimus "Shirt Mode" which is the one thing that I really don't like about.

I have to say, I know they're meant to go into the chests or whatever of the larger figures but those little "powermasters" actually look like they'd make decent heads, given they're TR compatible. They kinda have a sort of abstract, very robotic look about them, especially the one that comes with Skullgrin.

So my guess is that POTP will have a mix of the previous lines' gimmicks, and a new one in the form of "powering up" with bots that have additional armor bits and combination features.

No, I already stated I don't find MP Hot Rod to go at all well with 30th Springer because the styles don't mesh at all. Springer's got a lot more detail and edges and MP Hot Rod is too slick, plain (cartoon accurate) and slightly too large and that Arcee is far too tiny for either one of them.
See I own KO MP Hot Rod, real 30th Springer and upscaled KO Arcee. Springer and Hot Rod together don't work for me. Arcee is oddly somewhere in between in terms of detail and cartoon accuracy so she's in the middle like a buffer of styles.
I also own Titans Return Galvatron and he reeeeally doesn't work with MP Hot Rod in the slightest even in your excellent photographs. Besides, Hot Rod shouldn't be the size of Galvatron. He's meant to be smaller. And Rodimus Prime would be Galvatron's size only now HE'S TOO FRICKIN' BIG!!! argh...

Sorry, but there's something about the Masterpieces that don't work for me I tried Grimlock, and I almost tried MP10. The Size is right, but the detailing? Finish? Plastic quality? Something is different enough I can tell the difference. It doesnt work for me (and a lot of others, it seems)

Jazz and Sideswipe were the only 1984 basic Autobots not released in either CW or UW. Well we have Jazz now, and hopefully a Sideswipe at some point to complete the series.
Also if some (or hopefully all ) the deluxes have CW functionality, I wonder if they will come with HFG's. I only ask because I know being combiners is not their primary function, or at least if Hasbro would offer HFG's (or Computorn styled hands and feet) for purchase separately on their website...
