Always good to see archived work dug up and presented.

Pretty sure these colors are meant to be G1 Motormaster colors and not a precursor to Shattered Glass Optimus Prime.Poyguimogul wrote:I have to reply to this as a faithful member of Seibertron.com (aka saber tron, you f'king weirdos) this figure is the "paint it black" to heavy metal. this figure un-doubtedly gave birth to what we now consider "Shattered" universe. So much the song "Paint it Black" is progenitor of "Heavy ? Black Metal"
Namely, there's a much greater presence of gray and black here than there is purple, which was the dominate color of SG Optimus and yet is only a minor color here.

I must ignore the troll
All I was saying is that I don't see much of SG Optimus in this deco, and see more obvious cues of Motormaster in it.
Though, he is right in saying that "Seibertron" is pronounced like "Say-ber-tron".

You could never be a troll, Sabrblade. You're too nice of a guy, not to mention you're my appointed partner-in-crime Seriously though everyone, we have a "Report this post" button in the right-hand corner of every post for a reason. Use it.
And Motormaster doesn't look half bad. Shame he was canceled along with a number of other releases.
Bumblevivisector wrote:Wait, was this guide created using old Thunderclash stock photography? I've never handled an actual Thunderclash, but there's no way the launchers could've retained the gravity-feed gimmick and still been retooled to meet U.S. safety standards right? Assuming the trailer was going to be the same remold as MW Optimus, you'd think they'd have used a photo of it instead.
The gravity-fed mechanism is still present I believe, but ignored entirely. The Machine Wars version has only the launchers retooled, and only supplied with two long missiles (from what toy I don't know).

I... I thought we had a thing together...
I feel that, while this deco looks really cool on here, the neon yellow shouldn't really be here. But that's just me.

Curious, if he would've gotten to keep the missiles that King Atlas came with (his bombs) or been stuck with Whirl's redone long missiles. How did Hasbro get away with Atlas's bomber gimmick anyway, with such short missiles?

First up, we have the original unedited images of G1 Swoop that were used for the figure's boxart. As you can see there were a few changes that occurred between the prototype and production figure. The prototype featured gold chrome on the figure's lower jaw, feet, projectiles. Additionally the tip of the beak was less bulbous on the prototype.

Next we have a proposed black redeco of Energon Megatron.
Lastly, we have a set of proposed G1 Minibot redecos that would have been released by Takara Tomy. Warpath, Seaspray, Powerglide, Beachcomber, and Cosmos in all new color schemes some of which are little more real world accurate.

Thinking the exact same thing man

Indeed. When I saw the thumbnail, I briefly assumed this was about the Gobots' prototypes. Add in Beachcomber's headlights making him look like his G2 incarnation, and Seaspray's the odd one out; the red torso makes him look like...something I've seen before, but I can't place.Hoitytoity wrote:Anyone else notice that the Cosmos, Powerglide and Warpath redecos are almost identical to the eHobby Gobots set that came out several years back? That was exactly the idea behind it. Take those unused decos and turn them into the GoBots.I have the set, and Pathfinder/Cosmos is exactly the same color scheme as here. Bad Boy/Powerglide had his olive green changed to dark blue, but is otherwise the same, and Treds/Warpath only had his visor changed to black, and is a slightly more forest green shade of green rather than olive.

An upgraded form of OTFCC 2004 Universe Megazarak. That's an idea for someone we could have used this toy for.Flashwave wrote:Man, i really wish we'd gotten that Megatron as... hell i dont know,

That Megatron was actually a proposed store exclusive that would have come with Smallest Transforming Transformers Soundwave. I actually had to double-check that since there's a similar Lucky Draw repaint with red instead of the green (using the smaller mold of course).

Right, and I'm saying we could have used this as an repurposed upgraded Megazarak, to avoid the redundancy of one more Megatron.JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:Sabrblade wrote:An upgraded form of OTFCC 2004 Universe Megazarak. We can never have too many Megatrons. At least he has the guts to change overall appearance unlike a certain other leader you all seem to love

This is one of the very few G1 Transformers I actually like.
I have thought about picking up one of the many KO versions I often see offered but really dont like that steel bar that joins his knees together.
That part seems to be missing or photoshopped out of the prototype/recoloured version.
My questions are, is that bar really necessary to hold Swoop together, or if one was to snip it off would Swoops legs fall off, or does it need to be present to accomplish Transformation?
