I'm guessing Prowl uses the Enigma of Combination to rid himself of Scrapper's personality in his head, and it likely gets dumped into poor old Scoop.

The first introduction to him during Dark Cybertron (or just before that) has him reveal that his ship, Vis Vitalis, is a giant life support machine. So yes, there is that.
