Then why would they pick it up with #80.5 as the FCBD book and #81 as the first full issue? I thought they were going to scrap the G2 aspect altogether. Let's face it, it's not like anyone is going to miss that short lived series anyways. It was absolutely preposterous and even more rushed and random than the ending of the G1 series. I've been perfectly content to go the last 20 years pretending it never happened and I have every issue of it.

Actually Inferno, I don't think thats correct. Seems like I read somewhere recently in a Simon Furman interview that G2 was NOT going to be included and that it would pick up with the events of issue #80 hence the 80.5 and 81 reference. I think some time has gone by (it may even be 2012 idk) Actually I think I read it on an earlier post here on Seibertron. Anybody else wanna jump in here to confirm that?
El Duque, CounterPunch, Rated-X, Seibertron??? Anybody?
I'm pretty sure I'm right about that because I was excited about this project so I've been trying to keep up with all of the news on it... I believe I read that Megatron would still be his G1 Walther PPK persona....not the green/purple G2 tank. And human characters like Circuit Breaker and G.B. Blackrock would be returning in some capacity. But then again, how could you let go of the Swarm plotline of G2?
Well, either way, one of us will be proven right in a matter of weeks now...
This is SO awsome, I feel like I'm ten again
As an adult looking back, I know the comic wasn't as good as say X-Men and other titles, especially by todays standards but it served as a very good contemporary piece of 80's Americana.
And I know there are gonna be HATERS that come out of the woodwork that complain about the artwork and crazy mythos but alot of you young'uns need to realize that this isn't directed toward more recent TransFans, its for those of us old enough to actually remember the original comics lol. Although I'm sure IDW will take whatever readers they can get moneywise.

Yeah? Too bad, personally I liked some aspects of the G2 comics. Bah.

Only G2 leads Marvel continuity up to Alignment and therefore Beast Wars, and even edicts from Hasbro can't stop that factor. Especially if you also happen to despise Beast Machines enough to embrace any continuity thread that T-KO's it off the other end of Beast Wars.
Continuity is no rigid string of events that can be retconned and overwritten as the fool Lucas would have us believe, but a battle waged in the hearts and minds of every fan, everywhere, every day. Whenever one of us talks about Diaclone like it's actually TF prehistory story-wise, whenever a Robotech fan uses Veritech and Valk interchangeably, whenever you see evidence that tells you Dr. Arkeville really was that human villain from GoBots using cybernetic upgrades to sneak into the TF cartoon...
