Am I the only one that things all these after market add-ons are getting out of hand? Sure some of them are pretty cool - but seriously, doesn't every thing need an expensive add-on/accessory kit?

At least the crown looks like the original prototype image...
The mug and Thrust are pointless though.

Nope, replaced with an apron

I agree the add-ons are getting carried away....

What's the mug from any way? The crown is well known, and the Thrust is obvious from the season 2 opening credits...

iGear is close to jumping the shark with this one.

The preorder says it from Maccadam's Oil House

About the mug I have no idea where it came from... But I find it even more 'stupid' than the apron . As for the mini Thrust it will be cool if it transforms and looks accurate, but we already have the WST one and the Kings Toys one, although the second maybe doesn't fit in Grimlock's mouth.

I find it odd that the Masterpiece prototypes show them with an accessory that isn't released with the figure, then another company releases said item. I wonder if it's a subsidiary of Has/Tak and not an independant company after all. I'm refering to Starscream's coronation set (he has holes for the shoulder things) as well as Grimlock's crown.

My guess is that when collectors and completists have finished purchasing MP Grimlock and MP Starscream in a couple years - Takara will turn around and release a second version with the crowns. Kind of like what they did with MP-04. Of course the downside of waiting is that they'll lose some folks who purchase these products instead.

It makes a lot of sense, although the coronation set was from another company, it was TFC, not iGear.

What they should release was an MP-10 Ultra Magnus Perfect Edition with a trailer, and also transformable so that we can have a proper Ultra Magnus Masterpiece. And they could also release the trailer separately for those with MP-2.
On another thought, if iGear did that trailer, which I doubt TakaraTomy (much less Hasbro) would ever do it, it would be a great add-on unlike this.

Not sure about autoroller, but they're the same people behind that "city commander" Ultra Magnus trailer that attaches to him ala g1 style.

Actually, it was fansproject that did City Commander, and two separate companies have each done their own autoroller, one of which is more show-accurate than the other

A giant flame that pegs into his dino-mouth.
His G1 grenade launcher.
His Pretender shell.
A tiny boombox-mode Blaster that he can carry.

Those are good ideas. The Pretender shell is a very interesting one. Maybe they'll read these comments and take notes.

Diem, you should copywrite these ideas now. They'll be products in a couple of months if you don't.

The last one is already a go from the same people who brought us the WSTF Dinos. I dunno if he can carry it, but ... he might be able to. Alt Tracks can.

Seconded. I agree, these after-market adds are getting downright ridiculous. In a target market this precise, you can't have a single failure or it could doom the company. This looks like failure. There are definitely better things to make...though none strike me right now 4 whiskey doubles into the evening.

Oh crap, I knew that, I own one of those city commander trailers... what I guess threw me off was that igear is making an addon for that same city commander set. A new head, missile launchers for the shoulders (as far as I know they don't fire, they're there for show), a sword, and maybe another accessory or two for Magnus. I think that covers most of it for that set (possible a more g1-esque ultra magnus rifle, correct me if I'm wrong on this).

I hope H will release Grim stateside. I'm sure many others share this sentiment.

I hope so too, as long as we find out before I purchase the MP.
Regarding Starscream's coronation gear, I got mine for that much, but it might've been on sale at BBTS. I'm pretty sure the regular price isn't that much more.

I also liked Starscream's Coronation set (although I think they made the tabs on the shoulder pads incorrectly ... I'm pretty sure the tabs were meant to move along with the arm ... that would increase the range of motion). Starscreams death was my favorite moment from the movie and now ... it exists in a grand scale.
It's a small thing, but it really annoyed me that it wasn't included in the set. The plane is a nice touch. I guess they added the mug in just for the sake of adding in a third item.

Rated X wrote:O.k. I only know about the G1 cartoon cause I dont read comic books. But what the hell does a crown, beer mug, and a mini-thrust have to do with Grimlock ??? Did I miss a really dumb bonus episode that was not included in the G1 series I bought ???
The Crown is from the Marvel Comics, and the mini-Thrust is from the opening credits of G1 season 2. I have no clue on the beer mug though, I've been trying to figure that one out myself....

You can actually see the mug at that page. Not that it's especially special or anything....
