Filming has been underway in Montreal for a while. A lot of it is taking place inside the studio buildings but the driving scenes are taking place outdoors and it seems so will part of the scenes dealing with the Maximals. We have new shots of a cave being built for the production of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. While we cannot verify ourselves, it was said that this cave was referred to as the "Maximal Cave" on set. This is in line with all the plot details we know of the film so far where the Autobots and Noah will have to find a mcguffin that leads them to a cave where the Maximals have been staying/protecting for many years here on earth. We also have images of a Transformer lying on the ground elsewhere in the Montreal area for a different scene. While the character will be added later, for now we have a bunch of metal painted blue marking where it will. The location definitely gives some junkyard vibes.

The images were posted on the Transformers FR website and Facebook page.

haha, I know there's no way it could be Orcanoch, TulioDude -- but that shape in pic 4, 5 and 6 made me think of it instantly. To be honest, I didn't even know the BW Microverse sets even existed before last year -- and immediately had to have one.

Wow, there's a newsflash.

From artwork and a teaser it will still take a year to 1,5 years and they have only a title.
So it's going to be a lot of time before we can see TF on the big screen.

I do have some hope since Bay isn't directing and Kurzman isn't writing (he's killing franchises left, right and center at the moment).

But I can't wait for a trailer in the future

Kurtzman hasn't been involved with any of these movies since Revenge of the Fallen, four movies ago.

Cybertron 21 has posted shots of vehicles for the Transformers Rise of the Beasts film arriving in Peru. Shooting is still happening in Montreal for now but it will quickly make its way to Peru and everything must be ready. The vehicles pictured seem to be part of the Terrorcon group. This group is headed by Scourge and it seems the black truck is his alt mode, as suspected by those who saw the initial art when the film was first revealed to journalists.
This might mean that while a chunk of the film's plot takes place in Brooklyn, clashes with Scourge (at least in alt mode) won't happen until the Autobots arrive in Peru. This is all just speculation though.

The Terracons just might be the saving grace of this movie for me. So far what I have heard just doesn't seem good but the Terracons are sounding great. I can not wait to get SS (or its own advanced toy line) figures of the Terracons. I wonder if they will retool DotM Megatron to make Scourge?

Back when certain fans were invited to the filming site, Ben Yee described Scourge's robot mode as resembling a cross between Cybertron Scourge and Prime Predaking, but also with smokestacks.

Maybe that's what separates the Terrorcons from the Predacons. Instead of beast-to-robots, maybe they're all vehicle-to-beasts.

I'm willing to bet, and the toy sales clearly show it too, that a significantly higher number of fans came in thanks to movies than left. And if they left, they were gone for a decade already, having gone to sleep around 1992, woke up at movie news, saw it, hated it, and then went back to sleep for hopefully 15 more years. New far outweighed old, and if the continuously running classics/generations line, and WFC sales are an indicator, they are still there too.

Prequels were awesome, and after the sequels came out, they were appreciated a hell of a lot more, especially with Clone Wars. Those were good.

The irony of the intelligence comment too, when you were literally, very quickly, and decisively proven wrong.

Movies sell. Movies have their fans. I am excited for this one, and I am excited for this one as i have been for the previous 6. I have enjoyed them all to some extent, and Dark of the Moon remains the best TF movie, period.

And Scourge remains the most anticipated thing from what we know about this movie already right now.

This the worst take of all right here.

He's a Terrorcon, who are the main-villain fifth faction in a movie that also has Autobots, Decepticons, Maximals, and Predacons.

He's a Terrorcon, who are the main-villain fifth faction in a movie that also has Autobots, Decepticons, Maximals, and Predacons.

You know, that actually worries me. Five factions? We're not going to get much character development with that many factions...just not enough screen time.

I'm almost certain you guys are setting yourselves up for disappointment. The comparisons to the beast scourge were only in robot mode. The only info out there is that he is a truck. The terrorcons are all vehicles so far.

I'm not sure they mean actual "dragon" when they talk about him. I'm wondering if what they mean is that the robot mode is more like Predaking's bot mode with the wide wingspan...similar to the original Scourge. Maybe a flight mode but not a dragon, unless he is one of the Predacons...
He's a Terrorcon, who are the main-villain fifth faction in a movie that also has Autobots, Decepticons, Maximals, and Predacons.

You know, that actually worries me. Five factions? We're not going to get much character development with that many factions...just not enough screen time.

I’m trying to stay excited for this film because I love Beast Wars, and I felt that Bumblebee was a huge step in the right direction. That said, the more details I hear about this movie the more skeptical I become

From what I've been able to gather, the Decepticons are very likely only in a small role in the film, my out of the blue guess based off of Nightbird being a Decepticon defector turned Terrocon, she's with a group that gets wiped out except her due to switching sides.

That's only my prediction though based on the hinted smaller presence Decepticons have here.

I'm also thinking that the Predacons are likely not main antagonists either and are only in conflict with the Maximals.

Yeah, both the Deceoticons and Predacons are bound to have smaller roles since they didn't even name a single one if those when going through the main players in the film.

So, this just popped up on Instagram. It is, allegedly, a list of CG model batch codes for the Predacons to be featured in the film.

HOWEVER, the inclusion of one particular character's name in this list leads me and others to suspect that it might be fake, as it's a character who was only first created very recently as a non-toy character, and would be weird to be added to this movie so close to their initial conception when they've barely done anything so far in their entire fictional existence.

To say nothing of the fact that the very first name on this list is also misspelled, when other, more complicated names on the list (one of which people have been casually misspelling for years) are spelled correctly.

A big problem for several fans in the live action films is how the Transformers are often times secondary characters in their own movies, with many human characters. While this is due to how costly the effects are, along with the POV style of shooting/mayhem Michael Bay deliberately chose for his films, the point still stands. The upcoming Transformers: Rise of the Beasts film seems to deviate from this, at least for the scenes shot in Peru. The Peruvian news site RPP reported documents detailing the 120 cast and crew members that will be on site for the filming in September and out of that list only 2 are actors. And since we know that key scenes of the film will take place in Peru, seeing such a low number of actors means the rest of the characters are CGI. It has been suspected that this is the place where the film's mcguffin is found along with the Maximals so there will be scenes where humans are the minority. Or this could be a misinterpretation of the article (like maybe it's just 2 Peruvian actors integrating with the rest of the cast) or of the source the article is using. We'll see. Of course don't forget that there will be lots of humans in the Brooklyn segment including a job interview for the main character.

A large number of robots can still be lacking in personality, as seen in any big Decepticon army scenes from the previous movies.

Lack of humans isn't an indicator that the robots magically become better characters.

The issue in the past is partially due to many human characters just not being good or annoying which makes one tolerate their presence less, I mean from what I could tell most people didn't have a problem with Lennox and Epps in at least the first film as characters which is probably because their roles in the films usually made sense as well as not being annoying.

Not sure if I'm just being bias in this case but I did love the Lennox team stuff in the first film, the attack from Blackout and then the desert stuff with Scorponok, that stuff wasn't just enjoyable because of the Decepticons but there were some good performances (imo) from the humans in this case.

Kinda going on a tangent but I guess my point is that just because we are seeing humans here doesn't mean that the film is going to have terrible robot presence, it's not like we are going to see actual Transformers on set outside of the vehicles and maybe some head on a stick props.
