The Snakas blog has gathered up some in hand images from TFND of the two Dinobots Grimlock and Slog, which are part of the upcoming Platinum Edition Generations Dinobots set. They compare these two to their other toys, giving you an idea of how well they may fare in a specific collection. I have also included an image of their SDCC 2014 counterparts for comparisons.

That was released...ages ago. Before Thrilling 30 ages ago. Looks like the price on it is finally something reasonable at least.
Shockingly, G1 Sixshot didn't sell well for $200+
I paid the $185
That same feel when I paid 230$+ for MP-11.
The irony is, you can get a loose but complete and perfect mint looking G1 6shot for less than 100$ shipped. That's the price I paid and that's the price I sold it when I realised I didnt liked him.

They are priced at 109 on Robot Kingdom, not bad for 2 voyagers and 3 deluxes: http://www.robotkingdom.com/a91850000g1.html. And with the SDCC vesions already being available, I dont see that much demand for these, so a slightly lower price will be inevitable.
Also, while I spy some small differences on Grimlock (besides the head of course), the deco on both slogs appear to be the same.

The lack of the additional paint apps/stickers on his shoulders and legs? Yeah, less value for our money; not missing the apparent chromed-out crotch though
But I gotta say, I always imagined Grimlock would look the way he did in aoe, I was impressed

You didnt like him? I was close to buying that edition above for 100$ at comiccon this year but stopped when I realized he was selling for less on e-bay. I was still curious though, care to tell me (either here or in a pm), what you didnt like of sixshot?

Appart for G1 Galvatron (because I care too much for the character), I love my G1 toys to have realistic vehicle altmodes. Insecticons and dinobots excluded, of course. Sixshot is just... too many random things thrown together. It's a very solid toy and it's fun to fiddle with. I would highly recomend him. However, it didnt pleased me as much as I tought it would and I knew I would be able to easely sell him back. Also, there was some other TFs that need funding.
Will, if you don't care about yellowing or missing guns, you should buy 6shot. You'll have fun with it for sure.

I feel the opposite. FOC Grimlock was one of my biggest purchase regrets. I like the character (Marvel comics version rather than cartoon) so wanted a decent sized/priced G1 Grimlock but I thought that figure was mostly awful, especially the dino mode. I love my AoE Voyager Grimlock figure in both modes though and the one shown here is a beautiful blend of the two. First time in years that I've wanted a complete set of a particular Trasnformers group. Combiner Wars sure as hell didn't do that for me even with the obvious gimmick that requires a team.

This is what kills me. With the successful multiple runs of 3rd party Dinobots, you would think HasTak would realize that we want new, updated figures. Instead, we get knockoff movie figure repaints. It's disgusting.
What makes it even worse, with every set of this crap bought, the chan we of new dinobots get slimmer and slimmer.

Now from a G1er perspective you would prefer the original line up (or close to it) but from the Movie Universe (or at least the toy version of the Movie Universe) perspective then missing Scorn out seems odd and missing Slash out seems just regrettable.
That is twice now they have made G1 colour Movie Dinobots and twice they have not made those two. Not to mention Takara missed out on the black ones all being made and Hasbro didn't do the smokey platinum ones for all the moulds.
I would like to see Hasbro go back to making some 2 packs (say when Movie 5 comes out) and they at that time make either G1 deco Scorn and Slash or Platinum smoke deco in a 2 pack... then the one they don't do they offer at SDCC or New York Comicon as a follow up to the previous set of 5.
There is so many things needed that are missing and "Most Wanted" style two packs seems like the best way to do it to me.
I'm sick of all those over sized and overpriced "Platinum" & Year of releases - I would so much prefer smaller toys with a premium deco like we used to get from time to time in previous Movie lines - and that I guess Blaster and Perceptor are an example of.
I'm not utterly against premium toys in a larger size - it's just personally I'd rather have an Omega Supreme repaint than a Giant Cybertron Starscream or a Monkey (and I actually do like the Monkey).
I suppose the mold has long since disappeared but I would have actually liked to see a Mega Beast Machines Optimus Primal in show accurate colours before a giant red & blue version not to mention a Blue Savage/Noble.
But I suppose some love for Beast Machines is better than none.
I wonder when they will get around to doing another repaint of RID-2001 Optimus Prime - as a Year of Toy ? and in what colour - a cool colour of that Mould Like say Nightwatch teal or dark or light blue or even white would be really neat.
I think they should consider making some smaller additional "Year of toys" too like a 'Year of the Rat' Rattrap when the time comes.
It's not that I object to 'Year of' and Platinum release toys - I just think some of the choices are a little lazy.
Hasbro seems insistent on giving things you are less likely to want in a half hearted manner while a whole lot of other things that were actually in a TV show remain unmade (Like Black non-spikey Deluxe Prime Bumblebee & Deluxe Beast Hunters Blue Smokescreen). Not to mention they never did make a "Pre-Earth" Skywarp & Thundercracker out of the Cybertron Voyager mould either let alone Ramjet, Acid Storm and Sunstorm.
I can't be the only one who keeps their older toys and still wishes for completed sets can I ?

When did you say that? Also, I dont understand the question, the price tag of this set is as cheap as just 1 3p dinobot. Have fun spending 500$ on your dinos, I will just buy this at 100$ or less depending on the discount TRU gives.

Perhaps I said it on another board, so pardon me if that makes no sense. And that's basically what I meant is whether this will be cheaper than going in the 3P direction, cuz these look passable enough to me.

Yeah, it will be, I think this set will be ~$120, or at least similar in price to the sdcc set; dunno what that was, but this seems to be your best option if you like the look of them

Yes - Amusingly I nearly edited the post to put G1 in to prevent pople thinking I meant The Energon derived Mould then I decided it didn't matter as it was implied by me mentioning Blaster & Perceptor in the previous sentence. - Guess I should have done.
I've been looking at things like the recent Trypticon, Blaster, Perceptor, Blitzwing, Astrotrain and the previous Asian Exclusive Sixshot and wondering what else would work - one of the things that appealed to me was the original Omega Supreme as Omega Sentinel colours.
I wonder why they decided to remould the Energon One rather than use G1 version - I guess whoever worked in the department at the time was someone who had a downer on G1 moulds.
The other reason I brought up the idea of G1 toys as Platinum releases is that the idea of Sky Lynx redone as a Purple Gryphon still amuses me. But he'd also work OK in darker tones as Hatchet too.
It looks like they don't often want to make the repaints new characters though unfortunately.

The price was confirmed, no need to wonder anymore . You can buy this for 109$ online (I think?). But you are better off waiting to get them locally so you dont have to pay shipping. So yeah, the price was confirmed at being a much much more affordable option than the 3p dinos. You prety much get 5 for the price of one, I know I am biting

Seriously, they could have made an extensive remolds for each of these bots to give them a less squeletal and more classic look. Sure, it would mean greater cost, but still less expensive than designing new toys from scratch.
I can agree that the knights look was badass and worked really well with the original heads. Those really were good looking figures, all problems set aside

Agreed! those figures are just not worth the prices your paying! because those figures are usually made out of cheap feeling, thin, stress-easy plastic, limited articulation, as well as maybe other faults! it just cannot justify the prices you have to pay for it.
