Chronia is o.k.
Was not planning on getting Shard, but it looks so good. And that large shield/pick axe mode so cool.
Sandstorm is also looking fine. So many things I want, wallet gonna scream.

Sandstorm...I'm mixed on him. I actually enjoyed the Generations take on him. My wife says he just looks goofy. I'm not going to argue with her...not because I agree, but because I've been married almost 25 years and know better.
THat Starscream is damned near perfect. Now...just waiting for a third party to make a cannon that snaps over the sword.
Silverbolt...wow. Just amazing. Absolutely spot on. I think we can skip any BW Masterpiece for him. This is it.

Being so familiar with the original, I'd want to get Cybertron Starscream first to see what improvements they did on the original concept.
BW Silverbolt is also a must-have to complete my BW cast.

Looks like the Twitter user who made this collage used the wrong cartoon models for Sandstorm, the ones made by a Russian fan. They're all fuzzy in quality, and the blacks are so dark and washed out you can barely see the windows on the side of the helicopter or the details on the hood of the dune buggy.
Here's the correct models.

Especially when many pictures got their color changed, and toy pictures depends on the camera and general lighting.
What matters with these comparison shots are the overall shapes of the toy VS the toon. And for a Generations line, that's as close as we can get.

Silverbolt, why? I have the original and always thought of him as perfect. And this 95 years later modern tooling, he looks well the same.
Canonball, damn shame, I wished they were aiming for Armada Red Alert and not Cybertron Red Alert. I understand because of the recolor stuff but I would've loved an Armada voyager Redalert who isn't horribly deformed.
Cybertron Starscream, now that is excellent! I hope they do the Thundercracker / Skywarp repaints. Armada Starscream was a bit mid, okay but just dull. Also a bit loose in the joints, atleast mine.
Chromia, at first I was very excited! Then I realized she doesn't look like the Cyberverse cartoon figure. The head is all wrong, she needs cartoony cute big eyes and lipstick. She just looks like a bland generations figure. Perfect as is, but not that Cyberverse Chromia. C'mon HAsbro you did Cyberverse Arcee perfectly, why not repeat that?
That purple bird thing lady chick looks cool.
Sandstorm looks like hell to transform, so big pass.
What I'm looking forward to is a new Devastator, will he be deluxe limbs?

Because this is Legacy, not the Cyberverse line proper. Legacy keeps G1-ifying everything from stylized lines.noctorro wrote:Chromia, at first I was very excited! The limbs have been confirmed(?) to be deluxes AND voyagers. I guess deluxe arms and voyager legs. As for the torso, nothing is confirmed but I can guess both would be "leaders" who would come with the combining extra bits.
Posted by Till-all-R1 on March 10th, 2024 @ 7:52pm CDT
Anyhoo, It would be interesting to see how they mix Deluxe with voyagers to create a larger bot when typically it's been closer to Legends scale Since I don't have breakdown yet I don't know how "big" Menasor is or how it compares to the old Devastator.
In the past two bots formed the chest/torso so how does/will it work out with a Voyager, and which one will it be? The configuration is pretty much set, so it couldn't be the arms and legs which leave Hook and/or Long Haul. 4 Deluxe and 2 Voyagers? Would also seem kind of odd being that they all looked the same size on screen. It would also put Devastator at $170 when complete versus the old version being smaller bots.
So does that mean they will just try to Titan this beast or sprinkle it out via the main line over teh course of 2-4 waves?
Posted by Sabrblade on March 10th, 2024 @ 8:19pm CDT
Legacy Menasor is a smidge taller than the Combiner Wars Combiners and Siege Jetfire, roughly 12 inches or 1 foot tall. The Titan class Devastator was about 18 inches or 1.5 feet tall.Till-all-R1 wrote:Anyhoo, It would be interesting to see how they mix Deluxe with voyagers to create a larger bot when typically it's been closer to Legends scale Since I don't have breakdown yet I don't know how "big" Menasor is or how it compares to the old Devastator.
At this time, we don't know anything about the torso components. The leak that revealed Scavenger and Bonecrusher to be Deluxes and Scrapper and Mixmaster to be Voyagers didn't mention Hook or Long Haul.Till-all-R1 wrote:In the past two bots formed the chest/torso so how does/will it work out with a Voyager, and which one will it be?

He was a great figure for the time, easily one of the best, but there was a lot of room for improvement. The wings sat awkwardly over his shoulders for the action feature rather than on his back which isn't great. The cartoon also made him scale a lot larger (as well as fixing his wings) which the new figure reflects.

Even the Beast Wars Again repaints haven't been that dedicated. As far as his color goes, maybe it was a little darker on the show, but so much of that was set at night and in dark spaces that it's hard to really say for sure. I think it's spot on.

He was supposed to be a fused wolf and eagle, right? I guess I can buy his top half being that color if we're talking a gray wolf, but I think even those are a bit darker. And his legs are supposed to be an eagle's. I'm sorry if I come off nitpicky, I'm just trying to make it make sense. He just doesn't look like he did on the show. The others, as ridiculous as some of their colors were, at least adhered to their show colors somewhat.

Wait, and I don't mean this to come across as antagonistic or anything, but are you just not familiar with the variety of animals out there? Most animals, even among the same species can still be very varied in their colors and patterns. Them saying Silverbolt is part eagle and part wolf is about as non specific as you can get. There's more than just bald eagles out there, gray eagles are a real thing just like gray wolves.
South American gray eagle
Gray Tundra wolves
Obviously a toy isn't going to get all the color nuances, but I think they did a pretty good job with the black down the back of beast mode. This figure has colors closer to the cartoon than the original toy. Modern Hasbro is still trying to make Beast Wars figures look somewhat realistic, but they're at the mercy of 90s Hasbro's choice of colors like metallic gold. If anything I think the new figure could stand to be slightly lighter colored.

I was genuinely asking those questions, I am not familiar with all the varieties of eagles. I DID know there are more species of eagles than just the bald eagle. Wolves, I know a bit more about, but the gray tundra wolf specifically did not come to mind.Emerje wrote:Rodimus Prime wrote:He was supposed to be a fused wolf and eagle, right? We'll just have to agree to disagree. Each toy iteration of a character is a chance to fix previous failings, and unless they specifically wanted to adhere to the original toy's scheme, the new toy also fails, even if it's closer. But this is all a matter of opinion, if its acceptable to you, that's fine with me. It's not acceptable to me, and that should be okay with you. We're not spending each other's money on it after all.Obviously a toy isn't going to get all the color nuances, but I think they did a pretty good job with the black down the back of beast mode. Also, back when Takara was releasing their Beast Wars Metals line in 1999, they redecoed almost every figure in more show-accurate coloring. Consequently, the Takara Silverbolt was much whiter than the Hasbro version.

You'd have gotten the same issue if Cosmos was 2 per case, which we saw with Crasher.
But none of these figures are of G1 show characters, and none have very unique molding so if any are hard to find it will only be because of bad distribution and not due to demand.

They put a hold, but unlike many retailers, for some reason it takes several days (rather than just a "check" to make sure funds are there). So they dont actually charge until the item ships, but to secure your order, may take several days, kind of annoying.
As for which will be the hardest to find.... The voyager and leader being only 1 (and in cases of and 3 respectively) should be easy enough to obtain if they do show up in stores (Like G2 Grimlock, Toxitron, and the Voyager Cloudcover were in abundance).
If there are 4 deluxes (Cases of 8, and 2 per case), that would be even, then as WJ said, its up to distribution. My guess is that Lockdown might be slightly more popular than the others, but I honestly dont know. I'm just being pessimistic because Lockdown is the only one I'm remotely interested in, so according to Murphys law, that WILL be the hardest to get .
Lastly, is Roadpig part of this subline? I thought he was part of something else?

I wish! Between my two local stores one skipped the entire line all together, the other had multiple restocks of the Deluxes (I think I counted 6 times) and Cloudcover was plentiful (and still is) but never got the leaders, didn't even make space for them. Many reported the same and others even reported the Leaders going directly to clearance. Distribution of exclusive at Walmart is about as random as it gets, always has been, what's abundant at one store can be non existent at the next. We won't really know what's easy to get until after they show up in stores, we can't even use past distribution as a metric.
Lastly, is Roadpig part of this subline? I thought he was part of something else?
Yes Roadpig is the fourth Deluxe, there's only four this time around.

I am genuinely amazed there hasn't been a Cyclonus Armada redeco in the Legacy or even SS'86 line yet? Universe Cyclonus had at least three colour variations of purple. The Secondary Cyclonus (that had more screen time than the fifth Dinobot) could easily work with one of those.

You got all the deluxes, I got the Leaders. Too bad the stores near us couldn't have swapped these out to our preferences Yeah Distribution sucks. Paying scalper prices for a single deluxe because it was not obtainable is not something I like doing.

I'm surprised they didn't release Armada at the same time as the Sweeps to be fair. Both Cyclonus and Scourge are army builders within the context of the Movie. So it does seem like an oversight.

Interesting. In truth it does still bother me that Sweep was sold as an individual figure. A twin pack at least should be mandatory for a troop builder.
Sabrblade wrote:Some have bought the Selects toy-colors Cyclonus to use as an Armada.
I know, I read that before commenting. But the added decals and blue "ears" bug me with that release. If anything, Selects could be Cyclonus and Armada the other release. But it still isn't ideal. Given that just like the Sweeps, the majority of the colour scheme should look the same.
