Got that right. Still, it's unfortunate that he's less show-accurate this time around, despite using that head and chest.Janus Prime wrote:That Optimus Primal is a tough toy to top, he still holds as a figure almost 20 years later.

I don't hide the fact I'm not a fan of beast wars but I have to agree that Primal toy is fantastic. It does so much in a relatively small space.

Huh. Could've sworn it was the Deluxe.

The primary difference between Robot Masters and Beast Wars Reborn Convoys is in the hands. The larger original has closed fists, while the smaller remake has open hands:

I have the DX version and it´s just wonderful; any chance to get this mold is a good chance. The DX T-Rex Megatron is also outstanding.

By "DX" do you mean the Telemocha Series DX versions or the Deluxe class scaled-down versions?Janus Prime wrote:chuckdawg1999 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Got that right. I own the Ultra-class Telemocha redecos. I love having the exact same molds that were available in the 90´s but with more show accurate paint jobs.
Posted by Sabrblade on July 10th, 2014 @ 6:03pm CDT
I've never actually seen any in-hand pics of those versions before, but the official stock photos make them look like the most show-accurate versions of those molds ever, minus their lack of the Beast Wars Reborn tooling. Had they included those, they would have been the numero uno perfect versions of those molds.Janus Prime wrote:Sabrblade wrote:By "DX" do you mean the Telemocha Series DX versions or the Deluxe class scaled-down versions?

The stock photos are very accurate, but they don´t capture the shiny effect of the silver on the limbs and the blue on the head of Primal, they really make the toy stand out in the shelf, despite all the black. Megatron is just great, the beast mode eyes pop up beautifully and it can scare you at times, he looks evil.
I tried to take a few pics but they didn´t come out too well.

Roadbuster btw is all sold out.
Based on the links and the contents of each item, this will sport a new plastic/paint apps but no decals (for Whirl and Roadbuster that is)

Yeah, these look close enough. I'm not that picky. Then again he did say he meant the Robot Master version so the point is moot.

The point I was getting at is that it's pretty hard to confuse such distinctly different shapes and colors to think that the top is the same toy as the bottom.chuckdawg1999 wrote:Yeah, these look close enough. And I knew he meant the RobotMasters mold, which does indeed look like the Ultra mold shrunk down (since it basically is), making it much easier to confuse the to in a more understandable case.

Eh, robot to ape, ape to robot. It all gets there in the end somehow.

Also, am I the only one who finds it funny that the Japanese releases of the Beast Era figures are (mostly) infinitely superior to the Hasbro ones, in spite of the Japanese dubs of Beast Wars and Beast Machines being utter abominations? Even the Japanese thought it was awful IIRC.

I prefer Hasbro's Waspinator & Rhinox (except for the guns)...

I'd army build the hell out of them if the alt mode looked more like the show. As it is, I'll have this and Hasbro's Tankors in bot mode on the shelf and my 4 smaller Hasbro Deluxe Tank Drones in tank mode representing the army of drones.Delta Magnus wrote:Looks pretty good! Loving Tankor in particular. Shame that the inevitable crazy price of Takara imports makes army building out of the question.
Takara's been doing more show accurate paint schemes on the Beast Wars figures pretty much since the beginning. In fact, I just acquired this for my collection (although on my 'cast' shelf I have a kitbashed custom representing Terrorsaur in bot mode) and that's back from 1997:Delta Magnus wrote:Also, am I the only one who finds it funny that the Japanese releases of the Beast Era figures are (mostly) infinitely superior to the Hasbro ones, in spite of the Japanese dubs of Beast Wars and Beast Machines being utter abominations? edit: Sorry, it looks like TFU doesn't like linking to their images. Anyway, it's the version on this page under Variations.

The first year had them all be identical to Hasbro's, the "show-accurate" variations appeared in the second year and are much rarer. Terrorsaur commands an especially high price, reach $200 MISB easy.

Yep, that's because in the first year, the show didn't exist so there was nothing to be done to make the toys more show accurate (since the toy line came first). Yeah, I just snagged that one for $170 MIB. They're definitely pricey.

BBTS and tfsource have him up as well both for the same price. tfsource is probably your best bet if you live in the states, what with their free shipping over $150.
