Interesting that the short missiles are included for Thrust and not the safety standard ones included with the Commemorative Series seekers - wouldn't expect this one at US retail if that holds up

I would like to point out the phenominal price tag on this set, especially with all the talk regarding the Insecticons and YOTG Laser Prime. The only Conehead reissued was Dirge through TRU's Commemorative series. Outside of that, the trio was sold through E-Hobby back in the day which commands some pretty big bucks on ebay. With this set, and the original Encore seeker trio, fans can have an entire G1 set of seekers on the cheap. It's so awesome, I'm marking the occasion with the invention of a new word: CRAZ-MAZ-TASTIC.

Now, where is Trypticon?

Keep in mind that this is the Singapore price. I would expect the price to be more expensive here in the US.

Indeed! Even if I had the older reissues (which I don't), I'd still pursue these Platinum Editions. I'm a sucker for packaging, and these toys are packaged be-au-tifully.

I do have a feeling that Thrusts missiles wont be firing. odds are they will remove the springs for safety sake

Seibertron wrote:Thanks to fellow Seibertronian Daniel Oon, we now have pictures of the upcoming Transformers Platinum Edition "Seeker Squadron" 3-Pack of the Conehead Seekers with Thurst, Dirge and Ramjet. Daniel found the set at an Isetan store in Singapore which was priced at $109.90 SGD (approximately $78.89 USD). The appeal of this set, beside the amazing artwork that graces the front of the packaging, is that this is the first reissue of Thrust and Ramjet since the Collector's Edition packaged versions which were sold at Jaf-Con 10 in July 2001. Dirge was last reissued as part of Hasbro's Commemorative Series 11 years ago back in 2004. This news was sent to us via the Seibertron.com Facebook page.

The same thing was done to previous G1 toy reissues from Hasbro, like Perceptor back in 2009.

Oh, like the 1984-85 manuals versions stating that "it is only meant to hold the missiles and won't fire if at all" No problemo Sabr. Finally, my G1 Season 2 Decepticon collection is Complete! After 30 years!
Just like the others I only got the Dirge re-issue. Now, if only Hasbro could re-issue "Artfire" (heard a few years back that it was in the short list)

Did they also do it to Ratchet ?

Ratchet was Encore. I don't recall IH and Ratchet ever being re-issued locally. So their eye poking projectiles are safe to abuse.
As for the 1980s versions, the force of the springs were indeed neutered.

Indeed, thanks for pointing that out! Still, wasn't the rumor like $300 or something? Plus as expensive as the Insecticons were, this was a happy bit of info...

I expect these to be way more expensive for domestic release. So my guess is, even with shipping, these would be worth to import for many.

The Insecticons cost 79.90 $ Singaporean, which is 57.50$ US.
KMart sold them for 79.99$ US. And this will probably be the same price TRU charges for them because Canadian TRUs are charging 109.99$ cdn which is 86$ US.
So the Insecticons are 80$ US if purchased locally, and that is a factor of 1.4 markup (is costs 40% more than if bought in singapore).
Now, these seekers were spotted in Singapore for $109.90 $ Singaporean, which is $78.89 USD.
So, using the mark up from Asia retail to US retail as shown by the Insecticons, these coneheads stateside would be about 110$, so about 40 $ US per seeker. (and about 130$ for Canadians)
Not terrible but obviously not as great as one would hope.

When it was the three, much smaller, Insecticons (and, sure, the Energon cubes) for that price, I was afraid of what these would end up going for.
Plus, and I cannot find it now, I thought there was speculation or rumor of a high price...
Posted by triKlops on March 16th, 2015 @ 12:04pm CDT
While its not the spectacular price we thought earlier, i think after breaking down the cost per item, still worth the money.
The Insecticons were a harder price point to swallow, despite the new artwork and Energon cubes.

I will happily pat 130 CAD for this set

No problem. I am also more inclined to pay that, especially when a G1 conehead solo would cost be upwards of 40$ and be used (and maybe missing a missile). Now any TRU discount will just be gravy and I think its possible to reach that 80$ US for those who wait. Then again, these are reissues we havent seen before, unlike the insecticons, which make them less likely to stick around but at the same time makes it easier to swallow the price tag.
Part of me still yearns for the price we saw on Predaking, but it also makes me feel lucky I could get him at that price (5 Mega sized G1 toys with improved stickers, die cast parts and an exclusive new sword for 100$ was pretty crazy when you think about it).
Oh and this bodes well for the dinobot prices if ever that happens. My guess based on these prices would be 40-50$ a dinobot, so anywhere between 160-200$ US for all 5 (also my estimate for Trypticon).

Have no interest in buying the G1 toys. As I feel HasTak and Third parties are doing a fine job recreating these G1 toys.

iirc that was on the shortlist for the old Commemorative series (along with Trailbreaker, Ramjet, Thrust, Ironhide, and Ratchet) because Archer liked the character. Who knows what the fate would be now. Been a long time since that run

Still, I do really hope that set will have French on the box and will be sold in my local TrU. Even if I don't have interest in buying it, it mean that the other collector editions will finally be available EVERYWHERE and that Québécois will not be considered second class citizens anymore.

Well that's the good news, we arent second class citizens anymore, there is french on the box. The insecticons and the year of the goat stuff can ship to quebec and Devastator will be available as well.
Also, the price hike for canadians in general isnt as bad as I thought. Those platinum editions are high as all hell but its expensive for everyone.

HAHA! I know but that's the sad part that Kanrabat was eluding to earlier. YOTH Prime wont ship to my adress because there is no french on the box. It has been 100$ before and I would have bought it then but they just refused to ship to either my adress or their stores in quebec. The platinum releases this year do ship though so its all good from here on out. And as for the toy itself, I have the recent MP 10 rerelease with vector sigma and I am more than content with that. I will use that 100$ for the G1 reissues instead.
